I don’t get wrestling anyway. If it were team vs team for the NC, I might be more into it. But it’s all about individuals. Not my cup of tea. Not to disparage the sport.

Does declining post-season action affect NIL compensation? After all we’re in the Pay for Play era.

Hes a moron who should keep his trap shut..who is he to call out our student athletes
Now they are student athletes? Horeshit. We all would have watched if RU showed up in a post season event, lets not pretend otherwise. I couldn't imagine turning down an opportunity to play as a kid that age. They should be called out, whether its business decision or not.

Let me breakdown the multiple comments like this that I've seen:

It's about appeasing older men who still think the athletes are beholden to them for their entertainment.
Its about appeasing the older men that either led the way for them, or appeasing the older men that are now asked to pay them to play. Don't ask those guys to pay you then.

Most of the guys whining aren't paying anything. I know that for a fact from all the times I've pushed NIL in conversations on TKR.

Play at this age and have a chance to play in a money tournament! Kids literally turning down $$$$$ to play basketball.

I remember when Pike felt compelled to comment on Schiano's contract negotiations, so I don't feel particularly protective of him now when he is taking incoming.

The post had nothing to do with pike, our players or basketball. It was about wrestlers competing hard in tournaments.
Goodall just affirmed that in a tweet. Always the same guys ,mainly one, looking to attack coaches at RU and loving the blame game-- again , Bac, any receipts where you've praised the school you " love"?

Bac is a fan and if you read his recaps, you know he loves the program. He’s higher than the highs and lower than the lows.

There is an institution above all. And fans, men and women, young and old, who are the economic engine behind it all

Rutgers defeated Michigan when Flood was head coach.
Yes!!!! And then more yes. Thank God for the Flood era. So many great memories and accomplishments as you just noted. Thanks for being the one guy capable of having the pulse on Rutgers athletics to point that out. You get it. Great post!!!

I said it on another thread and I'll say it here. It's weak that the players don't want to play. So I agree with Coach Goodale and don't have an issue with him calling them out.

Whether or not they should continue the season is a fair debate and I have no issue with the fans on this board that want to shut it down. But the players not wanting to play? No bueno.

I won't say you are wrong, but they are the people being asked. Choosing not to play when the opportunity in there isn't going to change minds.

Honestly....I do have a lot of really great memories of the Flood era. His run probably provided more ecstatic moments for the football program than anyone but Schiano version 1.

Has anything since topped the thrill of that Michigan win?
Beating Arkansas in Fayetteville? Getting them again at home in the big comeback?
The comeback in Indiana?
Routing UNC in a bowl game?

That stadium still hasn't been as full or as loud as it was in great Flood era games like Louisville (Bridgewater game), Penn State (first big ten game), Michigan, Michigan State (the Leonte return game...technically Norries Wilson not flood lol).

As BAC said , I'm still waiting for receipts-- his recaps??? so if I read the fifty paragraphs , I've never see his bitching about RU--are you for real?

I 100% believe this was not a shot at Pike or the players. One of our wrestlers (Poznanski) essentially retired from the sport right before the BIG tournament and the impression I got was that Goodale was supportive of the decision. I have no evidence to support this but just from following our team it seems burnout in wrestling happens at a disproportionate rate compared to other sports and I am sure Goodale understands this and is not taking shots at other sports.

Goody has 2 National Champions, how many does Pike have?
The entire Ashnault season and especially the win over the Princeton kid at the RAC was as good as it gets for me. I don't want to get into this kind of argument especially denigrating somehow any our wrestlers- we've had a bunch of good ones.

But the numbers are the numbers. He's gotta sometime beat the top end of teams in his conference. Otherwise what are we doing? Pike's team beat the number 1 team in the country two straight years - one in maybe the toughest venue in America. This year stunk but let's not act like Pike hasn't accomplished a decent amount here.
