Interesting stuff from Jay this week. It's encouraging, but it's not...but it is I guess. He gets into how a lot of it is just mental stuff and alignment stuff. A lot of it wasn't their guys flat out whipping our guys at least defensively.

The good news is that's coachable. You expect that to improve with time and experience. These guys are on their third DC in three years, there are gonna be plays like that where they're just not lined up right, not reading it right.

If it gets to be year three and that's still happening that's a problem, but I get it in game 3 on a big stage like they were. It takes a ton of reps to get everyone's brain synced up. I'd be more worried if he was saying that NU did everything it was supposed to and just got run over because they couldn't take on blocks or tackle ball carriers.

I admit that I bought the hype hook line and sinker. I’m a business owner and after watching the first two games this season I realized just what Frost was in for. This is a complete rebuild. A turnaround that no one can really grasp unless you’ve been in a similar situation. I think about my own employees that I’ve hired and the amount of work it takes to get them trained and up to speed with what we’re trying to accomplish. Frost is doing the same. Changing culture, implementing systems and schemes, and working through drastic roster changes. What he is doing is going to require several years. This program is not a quick fix. Frost knows what he is doing, he’s a great coach, and he will get this thing fixed and moving in the right direction. When he does it’s going to be big. But it will take time and patience.

I agree with you and landing the top in-state talent and not letting it go to places like Iowa, Wisconsin, and Stanford to name a few will help bring the pride back to the program.

Frost is trying to fix all the problems that we've had in the past 17 years. That's a monumental task to do. Bo couldn't do it in 7 years, Callahan wouldn't get rid of his DC and Smilin' Mike was a terrible hire from the beginning. I'm not going to lie, I also drank the Kool-aid but this is going to take 3-4 years and that's being generous assuming that everything progresses quickly.

As I've said in other posts, support our coaches, players and enjoy the ride.

I’ve always enjoyed the ride but the past has given me hemorrhoids..

The problems lining up and frustration with not being sure what you're doing should eventually get fixed IF we stay the course. JMHO. Eventually some of this stuff is going to become second nature and will hopefully lead to fewer break downs. It's funny though, watching the Rams and Vikings last night they still have mental break downs and screw ups at that level and they've got nothing else to do in life but play football.

Great analogy, and made even harder because we lost so many veteran "employees" at qb. Some jobs lose veterans and find it hard to replace them with people with any experience in that field. Having a true freshman means you aren't just training the scheme but also how to do all of the basics of the job, from taking contact to eye placement and feet placement, and mechanics. It could be worse but qb is especially important in this scheme because the tempo controls the offense and our defense, as quick 3 and outs means the defense is screwed. Our current team should run a very slow ball control offense based on physicality...and they are currently doing the opposite.
