1) Mike Gundy (we hired the wrong Mike when Riley was hired)
2) Clay Helton (he already knows how to win at Memorial Stadium)
3) Matt Rhule
4) Bill O'Brien
Gundy would be cool, the rest are meh. Shame O'Brien didn't get hired by someone last season so he wouldn't even be considered a candidate here, he sucks.

Mickey.interim. I like it. IF he can turn this clown show around he could be retained and maybe keep some of the skill position players in place. Next head to roll that needs to roll is Chin’s but the choice step up isn’t as obvious as Mickey. Maybe Mickey can light a fire under Chin’s ***.
Ugh, that’s right: Chins is still here. Womp womp sad trombone music.

Any chance at all that Mickey’s first act is to fire Chinander? If this is MJ’s big chance to win the job permanently, he has to know that this d-coordinator doesn’t give him his best shot.

That's the confusing part that a couple of my Nebraska friends are scratching their heads about. But I guess - enough is enough
Making the move at this point is about saving the brand and the passion of our fan base, which are much more valuable than $7.5M.

The level of apathy from our fan base for these next two home games would have been a huge embarrassment with Frost here.

Also, by keeping Frost here for the next two games, you are essentially telling the players that $7.5M is worth more than their season is. How can you expect those kids to continue to play hard?

Alberts just sent a strong message that Nebraska values competitive excellence over $7.5M. Great move imo

I wonder if Frost was asked to fire Chin and refused

About time. Sad for Frost. Long overdue, though. Good choice of Mickey Joseph as interim. I hope he can stay on after we hire someone else.

coaching carousel is 2nd best place to be in college football aside from the pinnacle

I am glad the university sent the message that money isn't the most important thing

as usual, Nebraska Football will be the talk of the nation despite the many haters and losers who claim our premier brand has diminished

The timing is odd, I guess they agreed to take care of him instead of waiting 2 weeks.

On top of that you have to ask why sacrifice your whole year for 3 games? Unless the plan all along was to let Mickey do a real time on the job coaching tryout.

It would be the only thing that makes it worth delaying the inevitable a year ago.

I also truly believe we should be the odds-on favorite to win the B1G West right now

the rest of the teams in this division suck just as bad as we do & they have worse players

I’m not going to dance on his grave. Sad day for me but inevitable it seems. Mickey needs to lay claim to the job permanently. He’s one of the best recruiters we’ve had at NU.
We need a coach. Not a recruiter.

I feel bad for him. He came here a hero and was forced to leave. Wrecked his marriage in the process too. But, at least he's rich. Had to be done.

If there truly was an altercation there may be language in the contract that lowers the buyout immediately

Other language that lowered the buyout … anything less than 2 wins in the first 3 games is possible

I always remember the Nebraska fan who said to Iowa fans leaving Kinnick, “You barely beat us and this is Frost’s worst team.”, in year 1. I do NOT want you guys to hire Urban. He would turn it around for you guys for sure.

Of course I am sad that Frost failed. I posted last week that we should not be rooting against him and hoping we would lose. I wanted him to succeed as much as anyone. But he had 4+ years and he did fail. He needed to go. So my exuberant reaction was not dancing on his grave, but a reaction of joy that this sad chapter in Husker history is over and we can move on to better things hopefully.

Does Mickey know Defense? If not, maybe not the best idea?

Not saying that iHCMJ should take on defensive coordinator duties; we all know how that turned out. I’m wondering if there’s anyone worth elevating on the defensive staff that would put out a better product than the dumpster fire we witnessed last night.
