All the NCAA had to do was look at and rule on his waiver. Did not even have to approve it BUT JUST LET HIM KNOW.

They changed a kids life by being lazy and scared. I hope he sues them and they crumble. Same with that UNC WR.

Me thinks he had a few issues at his other stops as well. This was certainly unfortunate but I think it’s fair to say he wasn’t going down the greatest path either way.

The bondage of nicotine is no different than the bondage of opiates, alcohol, high calorie food, etc. People can dump on Arik all they want, but those of us who have had "nicotine fits" know you can do some pretty strange S$%^ to get your tobacco fix.

Didn't Rhule mention the fact Gilbert had issues at Georgia too?

IDK how it is in the big cities now, but when I lived in Lincoln back in the 80's/90/00''s we had 24hr gas stations that today should be selling vapes.
ZERO excuses.

And yeah durr "everyone is different" is not an excuse to be a ****** person and commit crime.

It's a shame he can't focus in and apply himself to football. He apparently has some talent as a player. He's headed to nowhere but jail, and really fast.

Good for you! Keep it up!

Four weeks calls for congratulations, good work.

But four weeks is relatively easy. It is the desire to go back that hits you in six months, a year, two years, three years. I've been waiting more than 15 years to not want a dip when life threw me a curve. Not as bad a craving as when I stopped, but still uncomfortable as Hell.

Its okay though, I'm a fatty mc fat fat as well so I will be supplanting those cravings with food so I can get even fatter. Maybe somehow I'll be able to blame that on someone else/society. Maybe even get disability. Gotta have goals!

Interesting. I like to blame the NCAA for a lot, but it never occurred to me to blame them for making a kid choose to steal. And then suing them for it. That sounds like a pretty cool plan.

Quick question...so, I'm currently awaiting a car loan and, for whatever reason, the bank is taking their sweet time with it. You know how those fvcking banks are. Always ruining people's lives and ****. Anyway, you think I should just go steal a sweet ride and if I get caught, sue the bank for forcing me to do it?

I probably shouldn't be putting this on a public message board because now there's a paper trail of our kickass scheme, but oh well. Feel free to PM me more details.

I chewed and quit one day, about 15 years ago, never had another one. My thoughts were there would be certain things that made me really want to have a chew.

Golfing
Driving
After dinner

But I never had an issue. You will be good.

Good for you, I quit over 35 years ago but still paid the price for heart disease as smoking hardened my arteries and I had quad bypass surgery. I'm about to celebrate my tenth year of post bypass surgery, I feel very good for a 72 year old dude. Stay the course and live a long and wonderful life on this side of life and your family will thank you also. GBR!

Yes, it is the fault of the NCAA that he is committing felony burglaries. He is not responsible for his actions and choices. Geez, you must be a Democrat
Do you think that there is any chance at all, that if the NCAA had looked at his waiver and gave a ruling on it, that his life might have been different in the last 3 weeks? Yes or no. Of course the answer is yes.

Add in the fact that they said he had mental issues.

Look, I am not saying the dude should not be in trouble, of course he should. I am saying that the NCAA ****** up, regardless of what their ruling was going to be. I am all for accountability.

Arik should be in trouble with the law and serve time. We both agree on that.

The NCAA should be held responsible for not doing their job. It takes 5 minutes to read through a waiver file. We both agree on that. It takes 5 minutes to rule on it, we both agree on that.

Looks like he has something going seriously wrong in his decision making process. May be he find a way to get things right for his life.

What in the actual hell is this dude doing?
This dude obviously is not "playing with a full deck"! Appears to be on the path of a life long criminal. Time to just lock him up for a few years and see if that adjusts his attitude. Very sad though for a young man with talent.

It’s an unpopular view and almost nobody will agree with you, but I get it.

I’ve posted here about my son’s brain tumor before. It’s normally an easy tumor to remove but in his case it was nearly impossible due to its terrible location. No one around here seemed like they could do anything about it other than manage it with meds and hope it didn’t get worse. But there are a few places that can do this type of surgery and he was able to get it removed. But we had to wait 4 months due to ICU being full of coronavirus patients. I flew out there for it but when I got there it had to be delayed again because of a ransomware attack on the hospital. It was a clusterf#€k and no one knew anything. He wound up getting it done after another 5 week delay. But he kind of went off the wall in that 5 week period. He had already made peace with everything and worked his last day and was all mentally prepared just to have the rug pulled out from underneath him at the last minute. It was a hard 5 weeks and he exhibited a lot of erratic and dangerous behavior in that time. I was relieved that he was finally able to have his surgery before something terrible happened.

Not saying that excuses Mr Gilbert or anything. I doubt he has a brain tumor causing his issues. But I understand how the NCAA’s actions (or inactions) can affect someone who is already teetering on the edge. I think they need to act more consistently and have transparency so everyone can understand what’s going on. Their nebulous decision making process only makes matters worse.

This is such a great example.

Like I said, I do not think Arik should be free of consequences, not at all.

I just feel that the NCAA lame asses that, for some reason, were unable to look at a piece of paper over the course of like 6 weeks, need to be held accountable. It is not like they were unaware of the season getting ready to start.

And it is not their place to operate from a place of "questioning" ones reasons or motives.

It is there job to look at a file and say yes/no. But they did neither.

People with mental issues, no matter what those issues are and in your sons case, stress, anxiety, fear (I would imagine), well, all of that just gets amped up when you don't know.

Gilbert was essentially in a "waiting room", while waiting to hear news from the doctor...only the doctor never came out to give him information. That is brutal.

That 100% does not excuse his actions, not at all. It does though make the NCAA dorks accountable for THEIR (lack) of actions.
