Does Geo truly believe playing college basketball and not being able to profit from it as "modern day slavery"? Or did he just put it in there for dramatic effect? If it's the former, he's a moron, I don't think Geo's a moron he's a smart kid. If it's the latter you and him use "racism/slavery" as a conversation piece to make your point more emphatic. You both demean there uses by using them as conversation pieces.

Don't whitewash the topic of Slavery and Racism yourself by ignoring the impact of their legacy on our nation. I can talk about it because I have experienced it's sting. I speak of what I know. This is not theory for me brother. I imagine a world where we can understand each other by being gracious and seeking first to listen before passing judgment.

Now asking players to allow Rutgers to sell items with their names on it abs Rutgers on it is one thing but they should not be taking away their right to do so without Rutgers name on it.

Anyone, period, has the financial wherewithal to pay for college. It's just of you are willing to make the sacrifices in life to do so. Does it mean working your *** off and accruing loads of debt, yes. But that's life. Geo still hasn't had to live in the real world yet. He has a lot of growing up to do.

They are all overpaid and compensated.

You think the players are over compensated? Or agreeing with me that the coach's are?

I don't think there's a definitive answer to either one of those. Some players are certainly overcompensated for the value they bring and others are under compensated. On average for the amount of time the players put in and what they get in return - i think its close to fair.

The coach's also are getting heavily rewarded for results, which drives more money to the school. But the players don't have that upside. And I' not arguing that they should. But at the college level I'd argue we should have some sort of cap on coach's compensation & perks.

That is the compensation.

No basketball and the hundreds of hours of time in exchange for the scholarship is the compensation. Their likeness shouldn’t be part of it.

Life is tough buddy. Look at how long 'Saved by the Bell' has been running in syndication - 30 years - and Dustin Diamond gets nothing for that. Spent the rest of his days doing hole in the wall stand-up comedy and then contracted Stage 4 lymphoma in his mid-40s. I guess Diamond was/is a modern day slave as well!

I think the NIL thing wont work out well for RU or college sports as a whole but i really hope it happens just so these kids realize their true value isnt close to what their circle told them it was.

and then they’ll complain more that they now need a piece of tv revenue and then before you know it they blow up the best deal running and college sports collapse and they go play in a no name XFL type league getting paid ****, playing on weird networks in front of no fans and not getting educated

I don’t know. Plenty of social media personalities less famous make a fair amount on merch. I don’t think they are expecting to make millions, but they could make thousands a month.
