Last coach I remember having different starters was Pelini. Solich obviously didn't have different starters and I'm not sure TO ever had a different starter since 1994.

Not sure how far back in history we're going, but I don't think that matters because all that matters is Frost's history and I don't believe he had different starters at UCF.
Didn't we have to have somebody start a game for Lee last year or was that just a halftime substitution? Armstrong missed games for Riley. TMartinez missed games for Pelini. Zac Lee got hurt. Cody Green got hurt. Zac Taylor might have made it a whole season for Callahan. Solich? Seemed to me we had to start a backup a game or two. I know Osborne had to start backups at times at QB. A backup starting a game at NU is probably more common during a year than not.

I meant my original question to you assuming Martinez would stay healthy all season. Sure if AM gets hurt then TG would start / play a lot.

But as long as AM stayed healthy then I don't believe TG would've seen the field at all.

2014 - backup never started (Fyfe?)
2013 - backups started most of the season, third string played a ton and had one start (Armstrong and Kellogg)
2012 - backup never started (Kellogg?)
2011 - backup never started (Brion Carnes)
2010 - backup started twice (Cody Green)
2009 - backup started twice (Cody Green)
2008 - backup never started (Pat Witt)
2007 - backup started last two games (Joe Ganz)
2006 - backup didn't start (Ganz)
2005 - backup didn't start (Harrison Beck)
2004 - backup didn't start (Beau Davis?)
2003 - backup didn't start (Joe Dailey)
2002 - backup didn't start (Mike Stuntz?)
2001 - backup didn't start (Lord)
2000 - backup didn't start (Lord)
1999 - backup took job and started (Crouch)

If he wants to go, fine. Show him the door and wish him the best of luck down the road.

Position battles happen...injuries happen...but if you're not willing to stick around and fight your way into the starting lineup... good luck son. We'll move on too.

why couldn't he go somewhere like say Oklahoma St or Ole Miss or Florida or Tennessee and compete for and win the job?
He could and may have an even money chance to win the job. But he will need to wait a year to give that a shot. And depending on where he transfers, he may find himself behind an established starter, or at some point after that competing with another talented youngster that was recruited behind him.

Joe Ganz took nearly every snap the year he started.

So I'll ask again, why does it have to be a JUCO or low P5 or low BCS?

This is how people slowly start to separate with 4-star players. It's like a girlfriend, but she's a dude, with a good arm and the ability to read defenses.

They tell themselves that "he'll get a bunch of playing time. I'll still get to see him every game." ("I'll still get to see her all the time. She just lives a few miles away.").

"Ya know, he's really going to be a strong leader as a backup." ("Ya know, she is still going to call me and help me make important decisions.")

"Oh he'll never leave. He was born to be a Nebraska Cornhusker." ("She's never going to be completely out of my life. She was born to be an important part of my life.")

"What, he's leaving for opportunities elsewhere??!!" ("I'm completely F**ked! Back to Extra Large pizza and breadsticks for one on Saturday nights.").

I guess I must have pissed off a lot of people that are ordering extra large pizzas with breadsticks on the weekends..

You know why Bama has not announced, right? Smart move by Uncle Nick
Yeah, he’s way smarter than Frost. When his returning qb found out he lost his job in 2016, the qb waited until mid-September to bolt to ASU. Too bad we won’t have Gebbia for those same two or three weeks but obviously Frost is dumber than Saban. (BTW the quitter has since quit ASU and moved to a third school.)

Best of luck to TG. I picked him to start this year. I can't blame him for leaving even if I wish he would remain here. If you think you have the skills to get to the next level, then you have to do what is best for you.

He couldn't even beat out a true freshman. Don't think he's going to come in and take a starting spot with a team that has four 4 star qb's on their roster.

Martinez is also a 4 star player. You act like Gebbia is a senior career back up. He is a RS freshman
