This alligator was found in Little Eagle Lake in Humphreys Co, MS. He weighed between 850-900 pounds and was 14 feet long. He was estimated to be over 50 years old.

or was getting into residential areas eating family pets, it shouldn't have been killed.......</p>
I went fishing with 3 friends about a month ago out at the refuge and I walked right up on a 9 or 10 footer.. He just turned his head and opened wide.. didnt run off or anything. scared the **** out of me forsure. I took a few pictures I'll have to find them.. I got about 5 feet from the sucker.</p>

The water was so low that they just all floated around in the middle of the lake. You could see 20 or so at the same time.

I left Starkville in 1996, so I missed that period. We even used to walk through the woods to a back part of the lake to fish and I never saw one. I just wasn't paying attention. I never thought there would be gators that far north. I was wrong.

Drowned in a commercial gill net in Little Eagle Lake in Humphreys Co. 2 weeks ago.
It measured 11 feet 9 inches with some of its tail missing (I estimated about 12-14 inches). (14 feet long - nope!)
It was 63 inches in the belly with a little bloating due to the hot day. (7 foot around in the belly - nope!)
I believe it was 40 or 41 inches in the tail.
We estimated it weighed between 675-775 pounds.

That's nothing, they've caught a couple in the ATL.
Had one last year that was hanging out on the Chattahoochee river, right at the I-285 bridge in Cobb county. Scared the hell out of a couple of flyfishermen, it did. GA DNR captured it and moved it south.
Then another one popped up a little further upstream even. AJC went nuts over it for a couple of weeks last summer...
Granted, neither of them were of a size, both well under 10'...
But still, how'd you like to be standing the water, waving your stick and turn around to see That floating behind you? Hmm??</p>
