You should be happy. You can full that forrester up for about $22
Here's the thing, you could have just said gas was $2.52 a gallon and that would have been impressive without the need to shave .40 cents off the price. But I'm happy to know you can finally afford a few gallons for your riding lawnmower car.

Look, Sally, I didn’t slam on brakes to investigate the prices of each grade. I saw $2.12 as the top number and that’s exactly what I posted with exact location. Because I know a singing, dancing sprite like yourself has nothing better to do on a Thursday night than investigate a gas price. Lol god you’re pathetic

Unfortunately, that requires visiting/living in Sumter, SC, and no one with a brain would willingly choose to do that.

My family lives there so I have to go into that Radioactive area

Gasbuddy has a lag time on posting new pricing

Prices are a day or two behind on the drop just like they are a day or two behind when rising

Clinton must be given credit for being the last President to balance the budget without crushing the economy.
FIFY.

Clinton signed the bill that Newt Gingrich and John Kasich wrote that balanced the budget. If H had been re-elected he would of signed the same bill.

Dick Morris had more to do with it than Clinton. Why? Clinton was going to veto it but Morris told him if he wanted to get re-elected he had to sign it.

I think Kasich took credit for that during his presidential run
Because he and Gingrich are the ones that wrote it. Spending originates in the house. Presidents sign or veto. They can submit a proposal and they all do but they are almost always DOA. Lastly , Clinton went on TV before the bill was done and said a BB could not happen for 7 years or more. Conveniently after he would be gone. Then Newt and Co. had one that on paper balanced in about 2 years. Clinton threatened to veto but then signed it after his campaign advisor Dick Morris told him he HAD to sign it.

I’m gonna pour myself another one of these as I read the gasoline prices you all are posting.

Now I am not jealous of whiskey

However I love mixing sugar free grapefruit juice and a high quality tequila in a glass with crushed ice while sitting in my backyard at night staring at stars and the night sky

Have seen some really cool falling stars showers

Been getting bored at home and think I may sign up to take graduate courses at the University of South Carolina in engineering if there is some research going on in power generation like magnetohydrodynamics or maybe hydro or fuel cell technology.

Plus my wife likes watching NETFLIX 24/7 in our large family room with the air conditioner on high and a diet coke and on one bothering her. She’s retired so what does it matter.

Something to get me out of my old age brain fog

Not a “brown liquor” guy, but it was on clearance sale at local Raley’s yesterday, and after some quick research, I determined that it was a good value at 112.9 Proof. Very smooth over cracked ice.

Learning is a lifelong process. Do it! 👍
I know it won’t play well with some, but one of my three is from USC-Columbia. It was a full academic ride & the prof that I wanted to work with, was there.

I’ve been on a deep dive into “senior” training exercises/lifts and I’m fascinated by what used to be “appropriate” for older athletes vs what they now know. Uncorked an 82” standing broad jump yesterday at the gym.

So maybe for Christmas will be less pain in knee

😱

Could get on my soapbox about electricity and bad policy moves that have us where we are today. But I won’t.

To me the biggest issues are
#1 Transmission line improvements
#2 Power production using MNR modular nuclear reactors and natural gas turbines
#3 Overbuilding green energy with solar farms and windmill farms when they exist they raise the cost of local power bills
#4 Government regulations from local to federal gumming up energy development

Loving the GasBuddy App

www.gasbuddy.com folks

Gas in Texas I checked a while ago $1.75 for a low

Huge amount under $2.00

Many states reporting to news like Fox saying spot markets in like 7 to 11 states are seeing under $2.00 but not showing up on GasBuddy

Sumter SC has gas at $2.25

Funny as some stations are at $2.75

Cash gets you $.10 off

On affordability gallon milk at $.99 all day and night at Lidl in most stores

Aldi too

Meat prices dropping Check out pork loins

Bought a bunch of the seasoned oven ready loins at 50% off $8.99 To $4.50 each.

Store specials are loading up

Wow the affordability crisis is being bombed big time

Unless you are a BLM LADY WHO HAS ALL HER GROCERIES AND FOOD HOME DELIVERED AFTER EMBEZZLING IT FROM A 501 -C Tax Corporation

LOVING THE FALLING PRICES

ITS THE MIDDLE MEN DUDES NOT THE GROCERY STORES CUTTING MARGINS

My Ca-“take” on these, given the regulatory environment out here…
1. It’s getting done, no question about it, but not at a rapid enough pace. Lots of CA is remote; heavy use of ground crews, helicopters, and topography slows things.
2. Moratorium in place; gotta get past that.
3. Yes. Rooftop solar? Great idea and it’s now mandatory on new construction here. Even better idea on warehouses, etc. Not a windmill fan; call me Don Quixote.
4. Feds aren’t nearly the problem that the regulatory abomination is at the state level. I have a special dislike for local regulatory agencies who are often manned by low-competency types drunk on their own meager authority. Yes, Malibu, I’m thinking of you elitist pricks.

Gas prices Sumter SC

$2.29 a gallon

Hamburger dropped this week to $4.38 a pound from $7.00 a pound at Piggly Wiggly Sumter

Is this an ominous sign for the TDS crowd

Maybe as election next November can see a lot of price drops and moderation
You live in Sumter?

It would probably be less on average if Shaw AFB was able to sell it for what they wanted to. To my knowledge they are obligated to sell it for just a few cents less than of base, regardless of what they would sell it for.

I don't like the economics of the on roof solar. Based on numbers you can never really make any money on it and the homeowner is at all the risk.

I am staying a mile away from that deal. Mandated roof solar adds like $30-$40 thousand to house cost. That's why people are not able to get into new houses.

New homes need to be bare bones getting in and allow homeowners to remodel up in a few years as they learn what they like in a house.

live out in the boonies in the country and thinking of moving to some retirement village if I can get wife to do it.

She loves our home in a small town and has a mini pioneer women thing and I am just like her but my health is slowing me down so less work on upkeep needed at the house

Totally off topic, but I don't know of a single conservative that owns a Subaru.
I’ve got a long-time (30 yr) friend down in Yorba Linda (Orange Co.) who bought one about 5 years ago. Nice car, but you can imagine the grief he’s gotten.

I asked him if the purchase was the first stage of transitioning…he didn’t appreciate the comment.

"I asked him if the purchase was the first stage of transitioning…he didn’t appreciate the comment." LOL

I just think its odd. So much so I typed it in the ole search engine. This is what it spit out:

Liberals are more likely to buy Subarus due to a combination of targeted marketing, practical vehicle attributes, and cultural alignment. In the 1990s, Subaru of America discovered an unexpected customer segment: lesbians, who were often financially stable, childless, and interested in outdoor activities. The company responded with advertising campaigns that subtly appealed to LGBTQ+ communities and progressive values, such as slogans like “It’s not a choice, it’s the way we’re built,” which doubled as both a reference to the car’s all-wheel drive and a nod to sexual orientation. This marketing strategy helped solidify Subaru’s reputation among liberal and LGBTQ+ consumers.

Practical features also contribute to the brand's appeal. Subarus offer standard all-wheel drive, good fuel efficiency, and reliability—qualities that align with liberal priorities like environmental consciousness and outdoor lifestyles. These traits are especially valued in regions with harsh winters or rugged terrain, such as the Pacific Northwest and New England, which also tend to be politically liberal.

Surveys reflect this trend: in 2024, 28% of liberal Americans and 33% of gay women said they would consider buying a Subaru, compared to only 16% of conservatives. This 12-point ideological gap is the largest among automakers. While not all Subaru drivers are liberal, the brand has become culturally associated with progressive identity, reinforced by its support for causes like animal welfare and environmental protection.

WOW.

all that might be true from a marketing perspective, but IMO Subaru makes a really good car. In fact, we're considering buying one for our grandson when he turns 16. They're built well, have all the safety features and are dependable.

I agree—They are good cars; early in my career, I was flying into both Pittsburgh and Charleston (no, the other one) and I’d always ask for a Subaru Legacy because they were so good in the snow.

In Pittsburgh, it was great. I was Hertz Club Gold and the Legacy would be running with the heater already going.

So, yeah, I’m actually a Subaru fan. I enjoy the diversity of views/lifestyles here in California even when I don’t completely agree with them. Because of what my job was, I learned to listen & debate rather than hurl insults in order to get things done. And yeah, downtown is an echo chamber, but that’s to be expected.

The slam on my friend/former coworker was a long-time gotcha for when he incorrectly surmised my lifestyle because I stayed in shape, carefully styled my hair, talked about my cat, loved to cook, wore bright pastel colored button-down shirts/polos, and didn’t date female coworkers. Then, told other coworkers about his assumption.

I agree to a point, but understand that there are people in other states (California) who now have gas bills so high that it is almost not worth going to work - likely an exaggeration but it was putting a real strain on them. These are in areas like SanFran where lower-wage workers have to live over an hour from their workplace (the example I was given was airport workers - baggage handlers, etc). This was when gas was over $6.00 a gallon.

I used to think that high gas prices were an inconvenience and high Diesel prices break the economy. But high gas prices can too in some areas.

For the record I am NOT opposing the embargo/boycott/whatever of Russian oil. But it is important that people understand the true cost of higher gas prices.
You clearly don't know much about California or San Francisco. I live here, and have NEVER paid anywhere close to $6.00 a gallon for gasoline.

Just going off of Google and what I was told.

And according to AAA the average gas price in that area (San Fran) hit $6.43 in June 2022. The post you’re quoting was from 2023 BTW.

But the point was that high gas prices are more than just an inconvenience. I know we’re all millionaires here but outside of TMB it causes real people real problems.
