Chas Dodd doesn't bad mouth the program, won us a bowl game, and didn't get the extraordinary benefit of playing with Carroo.
He should be at the table too if Nova is.

Doubt Dodd gets in the Rutgers HOF. Nova, teel, and hart will get in.

The OC part of his complaint is dead on. Unfortunately he didn't stick with that and included 2 HCs and 3 conferences which makes him sound unintelligent.

As rants tend to do. Too many people use social media as a platform for emotional rants that can, all too often, do more harm than good... if they do any good at all.

Freedom of expression... yes, but a little judgement and tact can go a long way in making sure your point is well made.

Without Nova I don't think we beat Arkansas away and UM, he was on. With almost any qb we could have beaten Kent and PSU. He had some great games and terrible games. He played hard and I thank him for his service but I don't agree with the public rant, what good does it do? Wild speculation on my part - he has been feeling around for coaching jobs, who wouldn't with the salary lunacy going on, and he has not gotten a warm feeling from Ash.

The issue with Nova was that he was either really good, or really bad. He rarely had a pedestrian "manage the game" stat line.

Don’t agree with Gary’s rant, but it will be hard to be successful as a program if we can’t have some long term continuity in the coaching staff.

You just did a much better job of saying what I think he's trying to say. I don't so much have a problem with what he seems to be saying. It's the delivery that's disappointing to me. I wonder if he's reached out to the current AD with his beef.

Is there any kind of mechanism or group for former players to interface with the department, or is it an informal thing that the individual player has to initiate?

Looks like Gary had a hard time in English class!

ehhh- not sure what got the rant going but I can understand his frustration. As a QB the OC coaching changes hurts you the most. The kid gave us his very best for 4 years, maybe his best was not good enough for us but he did give it. My only thought about the rant though is that there comes a certain amount of years after you were here that it may feel like it is finally ok to vent. Don't know but I never had a problem with the kid.
And yes, he threw those Int's but to never forgive, that is kid of fuxed up. It isn't like he threw them in an effort to lose. Had made some mistakes and a couple of them were not even close to his fault and guess what, many of his Int's were because he tried too hard.

Never understood folks who can't or refuse to get over certain things.

I just think, if you're a "loyal son" and mean well, a social media rant is not the best way to see that the guys who come after you don't have to go through the same thing. Now, if he's actually tried to deal with it directly through the administration and they're blowing him off, this might be one way for him to get his point across. Or... could it be he just wants to vent, and that's his only purpose with this?

He's whining about 3 different conferences? That's not something RU had any control over. AND, without us moving out of the hybrid BE/AAC, he'd have never experienced a game like the 2014 victory over Michigan.
I agree with one exception. WE experienced it......HE delivered it.

Actually seems like the truth hurts your feelings and you sound like a snowflake.
Why would my feelings be hurt? RU success or not, has zero bearing on my life. Nova's comments flow into an empty abyss like Al Bundy and his 5 TDs: people have little cares for the past and you come off like a hanger-on'er hack.

Sad really Nova is venting years later. It reveals he has little else in his life.

What did he say that was wrong?

The fact of the matter is, had RU had an OC the caliber of Fridge or even Cignetti his entire tenure we likely win a lot more games.

The conference stuff I view more as trials and tribulations not whining.

The problem I have with GN's post is that its genesis appears to be RU looking for another OC, which is a bit unfair as it was precipitated by JK's health issues. He has a legitimate complaint that he had 4 OCs while at RU, which is a nightmare for offenses in general and QBs in particular. His complaints about 2 head coaches is also unfair as GS left for the NFL, not another college program or was fired. His complaint about 3 conferences is disingenuous as the conference changes were due to the death of the BE and the transition to the B1G, ultimately was a godsend for the program. He could have made his point about the need for continuity in a much more constructive way while welcoming the new recruits to the program "that I love".

My feelings exactly.

I struggle with the "hard to be proud" part of his post. Not a former player or an insider but unless I am really missing something, now is a great time to be proud of the team and their efforts on and off the field over a few extremely difficult years. We're moving forward to a very exciting future and I wish Coach Kill well.

O I see Gary wants some more time in the sun shine. Time to give it up Gary, your time in the lime light is over and no matter how hard you try it's never going to happen again. Make no mistake this is all about Gary(look at me, me, me) and not about him caring about anything.

Didn't Kill leave his last job due to health issues?
Yes he did, left KSt because his health issues improved in the non coaching athletic department administration position he held there.
But seems like they took a turn for worse, again, while the RU OC

It doesn't really matter if Nova were correct or not: he shouldn't have said it. What good does it do other than make him feel self-righteous?

Some unsolicited advice to the young man: Don't trash where you've been. Look forward. No prospective employer wants to hear, "I was great but the place was terrible." It immediately makes one think, "What will he say about our place?"

Al Bundy. Ted Bundy was famous for racking up something other than TDs.

Important program numbers:

Gary Nova 5 INTs (including one on possible game winning drive) vs PSU in a close loss.

STFU Gary. Never forgiven.

Now all the Gar-etards can come down hard on this post like I give a $h!t.

Dear Gary,

1. Life is hard sometimes.
2. That which doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
3, Learn to roll with the punches.
4. We all face obstacles in life.
5. Many of us overcame and continue to overcome more formidable obstacles in the game of life that make your rant seem petty, as it pertains to playing a game. And we don't whine. We press on.
6. Be thankful you received a free education for playing a game.
7. If not for the coaching change, you would not have had the luxury of playing for one of the finest offensive minds in football, Ralph Friedgen. But you see this as a problem. SMH.
8. If not for the conference change, you would not have had a chance to play on one of the best stages in college football-the Big 10. Yet you somehow see this as a negative. SMH.
9. Learn how to take lemons and make lemonade. It will get you far in life. When you pour a glass half way, see it as half full, not half empty.
10. See your future. Be your future. Make, make your future. Stop dwelling in the past.

I don't get it. Everyone here seems to have opinions all the time. Why the hell is a former starting QB who holds some records not be allowed to speak on national signing day regarding news regarding our OC situation and college ball in general?

It's will take a generation and Millenial misery to come to the conclusion you keep your mouth shut.

Something us adults were taught by the heavy hand of our fathers and learned.

But you didn't learn how to put a coherent sentence together. Shut up.

Could not agree more. It is a fact that's he was a huge part of all our signature wins that were post ray rice era. Arkansas , Michigan , & Washington state. I also think that's if it's on instagram that's a little diff than putting it on twitter. I took a little umbridg with the last cryptic line about what's going on over there but I will give him a pass. He was a heck of a player for us and maybe the new regime could do a little more to connect with some of the players we had before they got her.
