"I loved my time at Rutgers"

"I gave all I had to that program"

"They make it hard to be proud of what is going on"

What the HELL is with that language? Does this kid even consider himself an alum? Does he even consider himself one of "us"?

Certainly doesn't sound like it.
That's a joke right?

I was big Gary fan when he was here. Heck, I didn't even have an issue with the Kent St. fiasco. I agree that he has every right to say whatever he wants. At the same time, when you make public comments you open yourself up to public opinion. Thus, I also have no issue with anyone voicing displeasure with Gary's most recent comments.
Yeah! Me too. Nice to see there are others that just loved those five picks against Kent St. Not too many can do that as well as he did.

He is going to be a rutgers hall of farmer . Same with hart and teel. If Hall of famers are not at head the head table we must have a better program than we thought .

Dear Lord there are 15 football players in the RU HOF whose last names begin with the letters "A" or "B" for crying out loud!

All-Americans deserve their OWN table. The "head" table." Bottom line IMHO.

Who knows what context that insta-text was made under. Why are we reading is private insta-hicky anyway? Nova had a good career, I don't think he is complaining about that, sounds like he is complaining about RU having to get yet another OC.

Not really, though I can see how it could be taken for sarcasm. I don't talk about Rutgers in the past tense like that. I consider my connection to the school to be more "current".

What the hell "head table" are you talking about?

Don’t agree with Gary’s rant, but it will be hard to be successful as a program if we can’t have some long term continuity in the coaching staff.

Kill moving on due to health reasons which is why it's a dumb rant and not appropriate.

This....on one hand I respect Nova because he took more criticism from fans than any other player at RU I’ve seen and stuck with it.....on the other hand Nova could have had Bill Walsh as an OC and I don’t think it would have mattered.....he was an inconsistent QB who showed flashes - one week he’d look great and the very next week he’d leave you scratching your head. Guy got benefit of the doubt and got to stay in as starting QB week after week way beyond what he should have.

He did throw into double coverage occasionally

The problem I have with GN's post is that its genesis appears to be RU looking for another OC, which is a bit unfair as it was precipitated by JK's health issues. He has a legitimate complaint that he had 4 OCs while at RU, which is a nightmare for offenses in general and QBs in particular. His complaints about 2 head coaches is also unfair as GS left for the NFL, not another college program or was fired. His complaint about 3 conferences is disingenuous as the conference changes were due to the death of the BE and the transition to the B1G, which ultimately was a godsend for the program. He could have made his point about the need for continuity in a much more constructive way while welcoming the new recruits to the program "that I love".

Of course we're speaking figuratively. This isn't Game of Thrones.

But even when speaking figuratively there must be some context, right? I don't get your point.

For ex-players there are only a handful of ways to maintain relevance with the program of today. They can be playing on Sundays, they can be an outspoken advocate of the program or they can write large checks.

Gary Nova doesn't fall into any of those categories. We all appreciate the work and the accomplishments, as a player, to be sure. But this rant carries no weight. He's just another guy whining on social media.

AMEN to what Gary said. It was Chaos here. He was a warrior and if it comes down to busting him for grammar and syntax the you've missed point totally.

Merry Christmas Gary. You're an all-time RU man with a seat at the head table.

Agreed. I have No problem with Nova’s statements. He was, to a large extent, a victim of circumstances. No team for whatever reason should have nine coordinators in nine years! I think he is merely pointing out the obvious, that the coaches are treated far better than the players at the college level.

The guy hadn't had a seizure in how long before being hired? Obviously there was a chance but not enough for you to be calling someone stupid. And since his years at Minnesota he had taken card of his health, was exercising, eating right, and again had not had a seizure in quite some time. Hence the reason he took the job. Hell he was working 12 hour days at K State without any issues. So maybe you should go back and read his story of why he even considering coaching again.
It had been a little over a year since he had one. The stress level at K State no matter how many hours he was is no where as close as what it is coaching. I read his story when he was hired and said back then it was a bad idea. My whole point was you can't say that couldn't foresee this happening because he was seizure free.

ehhh- not sure what got the rant going but I can understand his frustration. As a QB the OC coaching changes hurts you the most. The kid gave us his very best for 4 years, maybe his best was not good enough for us but he did give it. My only thought about the rant though is that there comes a certain amount of years after you were here that it may feel like it is finally ok to vent. Don't know but I never had a problem with the kid.
And yes, he threw those Int's but to never forgive, that is kid of fuxed up. It isn't like he threw them in an effort to lose. Had made some mistakes and a couple of them were not even close to his fault and guess what, many of his Int's were because he tried too hard.

I don't disagree in principle but this rant is much the same as any other rant. Words are wind. Actions effect change. If he thinks that we've lacked stability in the coaching staff, I would agree with that, but there's only one thing that solves the problem. As far as I know, we're still waiting for Gary's check.

Gary is 25 and just starting his career . He probably isn’t making much coin just yet. If checks are what you are after you should check out the current events board or tax thread on this board . Lots of board members here seem to live in half million dollar homes and above . Hit them up .
