Hopefully it’s just to see what other options he has out there. No matter what position he plays, GS is the type of dude I want on my football team.
I’m not a football coach, but I don’t think I’ll ever understand how a player like Shrader doesn’t get a chance at QB in this system. He is plenty capable of passing the ball and picked up Moorhead’s complicated system just fine. Why he hasn’t been given a couple of series just to see what he can do is something I probably won’t ever understand.

Entered the portal. Loved watching the kid play.
Beats me. I guess Leach just doesn't want to consider a QB who's not a pure pocket passer. Strange to see him give up on Shrader so quickly.
I'm with you again trojandawg. I was on the same page with you even back to last season (even though we argued a ton), but I just didn't see the point in criticizing because I figured he was here at least another year. Now we've got the same issue with Leach, and we know he's here for another 2 years at minimum, probably the next 3 years. All we can do is hope for the best.Hate that. Product of us going to the air raid and getting a coach that won’t adapt. Two coaches in a row. He couldn’t have done worse than Costello and certainly has more experience than will and he would definitely not slide if we needed the extra yard.

If this thing doesn't work, we're going to see a house-cleaning of epic proportions. It's a damn shame too, we would have lost all the momentum of the Mullen Era. At this point it's hard for me to think we could have done worse overall than just hiring Todd Grantham. I think he was ready to jump up to a new challenge. I think he's stagnant down at Florida in the same ole DC role.
If I'm being honest, I think we lost all that momentum anyway, no matter how it turns out. Our identity is just so much different now than it was back then. Oh well.

Not accurate enough for leach, seriously, yet he kept
playing Costello for 4 games. Plus 90% of his passing game is
5-8 yard throws. IMO shrader deserved a shot!
Surely even a system coach like Leach understands to use what he has, and recruit to what you want to do. I don't want to waste a season, and I know he does not either. But I can't handle this bullheaded **** anymore. You're right, Kingsbury and Riley tell me all I need to know.i'm with you there. We are stuck with Leach after firing Moorhead. I'm willing to give Leach a little more leash because he does have a track record of installment and progressive seasons with different power 5 schools. So we are where we are with Leach. It's just frustrating to not see him adjust and use the run game and mobile qb. watching his form QB adapt his system in the NFL last night is just one of things that make you go hmmm. Most of his disciples like Kingsburg and Riley have adapt to using mobile QBS and various runs when given. You see those offenses able to move the ball again most anyone whether it's run or pass.
I agree with you also that we have lost our identity that we had built as tough bust you in the mouth football program putting players in the league left and right under Mullen. I will Arnett has brought back Bulldog defense. Leach has brought back discipline. I'm just want to see us have the same mentality on offense that the defense has. I just haven't seen it yet outside of one game. It just seems to passive. If the defense gives you the underneath and only rushes three you have to make them pay with that. I get our o line is bad, but adapt and tighten the splits. At OU they didn't agree with Leach on the splits and they ran tighter splits that work more effectively. Don't be stubborn to keep putting your players into something they can't execute. That's what guys like Moorhead and Croom do. It's been three games trying to do the same thing. have to change it up.
