Saw this coming, was disappointed that there wasn't more to the night king story.
Now who does the honors of giving Cersei the slow painful death she deserves? Jamie or Tyrion?
Maybe the most intense 90 minutes in the history of television...wowza

Great episode. Loved most of it. Not a fan of how the NK went out. Didn’t get any motivation or closure on his arc. Seemed rushed or a cheap exit.

She could’ve used some ghouls face instead. They have blue eyes as well and they don’t shatter when you kill them..
Have never watched it. I guess I enjoy the drug-addled stories related to Walter White and Jimmie McGill too much to want to watch another series. I hope Better Call Saul goes on for another 10 years. It's not as good as Breaking Bad, but has potential.
True, I thought they were in deep **** when the dragon torching him didn't do ****. Also thought Jon Snow was done.
She did!
Things I loved about the episode:
- The initial charge of the Dothraki, and the way that you see off in the distance that their fighting...doesn't go well. That was intensely scary.
- The wave of undead was exactly what it should have been: a 15 foot wall of just death hurling at everyone. That was also quite terrifying.
- Most of the fighting was scary, and the Red Woman was amazing with what she contributed.
- Arya "Badass Little Stark" doing the damn thing.
Things I did not like:
- The move from huge exterior battles to interior creepy running around made it very hard to understand just how many soldiers were actually still alive. Most of the Dothraki are dead, and all of the Ironborn are, but how many Unsullied lived? How many Free Folk and Knights of the Vale and Northmen? It was really hard to tell by the end.
- The dragon fighting got really chaotic and hard to see. I realize that that was probably the best way to do what they did, but it was just not easy to follow. Also, Rhaegal, the dragon Jon was riding, apparently lived, but just got really jacked up. Drogon living was amaze-balls.
- Too many key people survived. I called all of the deaths that actually happened, but a few people I had tagged as surefire goners actually lived, and I'm a little "meh" about that.
The thing with the Night King: The White Walkers have always just been this force of nature thing. They've always been scary, but it's never been that deep. So, ending it like this makes sense, though it "felt" a little like "Well...ok..."
The REAL nasty stuff should be happening starting next week. OOOOO CLEGANEBOWL! What's the action? I'm betting the farm on the Hound.
Yes, same here. We hear and see what a bad *** The Night King is. Then he is taken out easily in 1 episode. With the first strike. Thought it would take a few episodes to defeat him. Basically it took 1 episode to defeat him and it will take 3 to defeat Cersei. That doesn't seem right. I think the main focus should have been defeating the night king, not Cersei. Still one of the best episodes ever.
The thing no one is talking about...there’s no army left to march south. I’m sure they’ll pull something off and beat the golden company/iron born/Lanister army...but they’ve got one or two dragons and like 20 people left. Or that’s how it seems.
I wonder if there is more going on. Like others have said. It just doesn't seem right. It was to easy and to quick of death for a character that has been a menace for 8 years. Is it possible the Night King somehow took Brans body just before he was killed. Remember a few episodes back When asked what the night king wants, Bran Said. "he wants me"

They don't have any Dothraki anymore really, but I think maybe around half of the Unsullied lived, and maybe a smattering of Knights of the Vale and Northmen are still around. And some Free Folk. I think they could maybe field 10,000. The NYTimes review did kind of an "estimate" of who was left, and they have about that.
Plus, two dragons. Rheagal lived, even though he got seriously messed up. And we saw what even one dragon does to an entire army.
Totally agree on the point that too many main characters lived. My wife and I listed who we thought was going to die before the episode and our lists went like 8-10 deep.
Neither of us saw Lyanna Mormont going. But Edd, Beric, Theon and Jorah seemed like shoe-ins. I was really expecting at least Grey Worm, Gendry and Pod. Also maybe a Thormand, Breainne, or Davos.
I had Brienne pegged as dying, and then either Jaime or Tormund. I also had a sneaking suspicion either Jon or Dany might die, but not both. I didn't think Lyanna Mormont was going to die either, but man she did and she also went out like a G.
The show has really walked back the "no one is safe" feeling it always had in favor of the much more broad-stroke plot points its trying to hit before it all ends. That's cool, but it also makes it a little more of a "normal" show now and not so much a "OH MY GOD WTF" show.

I don't think that's it: Martin sat down with Benioff and Weiss and explained the rest of the story arcs as he had them mapped out. I think it's more so that the show is needing to wind up somewhere with certain people doing certain things. Back in the day, when anyone could seriously die, we were still so far away from the conclusion that it felt a lot more chaotic and ambiguous. Now it's like...ok...we know where all of this is going in a very basic but clear way.
At least, that's my thought.
I figured Brienne and Jamie were safe based on the Valonqar prophecy. My guess is that Cersei will kill Brienne (or Brienne will die in the battle) and Jamie will avenge her by killing Cersei. Thus fulfilling the prophesy.
The Brienne/Jamie storyline will come full circle when Brienne stabs Cersei in the back and becomes the "Queen Killer."
I will be shocked if it isn't Jamie. However at this point it almost seems to obvious.
I just read where someone had asked the creator why so little time was spend on the night king. He said something like. The main story line of the show has never been about the night king. It has always been about the throne. The night king was always a secondary thing. So he wanted to focus most of the time on the battle for the throne not defeating the night king.
So I understand it better from that point of view. My thing is they basically wasted 2 episodes of doing nothing. Condense those 2 episodes into 1. Use the other and this episode for the night king battle and defeat. Then use the other 3 for defeating Cersei and the battle for the Throne.
I suppose with some good recruiters and remember the military offers college reimbursement...gotta think that will help.
They don't need an army. One or two dragons will take care of Cersi's Army in literally minutes.
Man, two different times I have started to binge watch this series. The gratuitous female nudity was not enough to offset the difficulty in understanding who was who and what in the hell they were saying.
Lol My wife was the same way. t takes a full season maybe 2 to understand who and what is going on. Im not even sure I understand everyone and their connections fully yet. lol
