I don't really follow soccer......... but assume this is kinda a big deal?
Nah- PSG and Bayern. Don't know who the third team will be once the German and French leagues capitulate.Assuming the 3 unnamed teams are from Germany.
I believe I saw an Italian team mentioned as thirdNah- PSG and Bayern. Don't know who the third team will be once the German and French leagues capitulate.
Dortmund but I think this will get squashed - total money grab & Uefa has already condemned it by saying players who participate will not be allowed in world cup - you know uefa's money grabNah- PSG and Bayern. Don't know who the third team will be once the German and French leagues capitulate.
(again, i don't follow the sport) - but why is this bad? wouldn't seeing the best teams play be a good thing?Hopefully this is the last straw for the casual fan. The big clubs think they can do whatever they want to generate more money and no one will care. I won't watch.
I'll answer this in two parts:(again, i don't follow the sport) - but why is this bad? wouldn't seeing the best teams play be a good thing?
unlike US Football or basketball or baseball - where clearly those teams and leagues are the very best (even NHL too...)
I see soccer separated into several leagues - where the best teams don't always play...
we love when a good soccer team comes to the US in a visit - don't we?
It would be the equivalent of the top 15 CFB teams/names forming their own club and saying no one else can play.(again, i don't follow the sport) - but why is this bad? wouldn't seeing the best teams play be a good thing?

I immediately thought of the break up of the Big East when I heard about this and I remember how I felt. All that righteous indignation amounted to nothing. Money talks and UEFA/FIFA are bluffing- at least long term. As long as those clubs stick together, they hold the better cards.Dortmund but I think this will get squashed - total money grab & Uefa has already condemned it by saying players who participate will not be allowed in world cup - you know uefa's money grab
I have heard the Roma might be in the mix. It makes sense, capital city and American ownership. Hoping they get the nod.I believe I saw an Italian team mentioned as third
Here is why it is bad. Let’s just say numerous countries played equal baseball. The baseball world wants to form a super league so the Dodgers, Cardinals, Red Sox, Yankees and Cubs all leave MLB. Is that good for baseball in the US?(again, i don't follow the sport) - but why is this bad? wouldn't seeing the best teams play be a good thing?

Good analogy. Here is why it is bad. Let’s just say numerous countries played equal baseball. The baseball world wants to form a super league so the Dodgers, Cardinals, Red Sox, Yankees and Cubs all leave MLB. Is that good for baseball in the US?
Poor analogy. Baseball has a salary cap, luxury tax, and an amateur draft, among other things. That's why an expansion team can beat the Yankees in the World Series.Good analogy.
Not necessarily. If they are kicked out of their domestic leagues, they will not be able to support themselves on the Super League alone. As currently proposed, it is still a tournament. Once a team is eliminated from the tournament, who do they play? As a West Ham fan, if they kick out the "big 6" and remove all the results against those teams, we go the to top of the table! Maybe it is a good idea after all...As a Wolves fan will be hoping these 6 are kicked out of the Premier League if this goes through. Won't be holding my breath though.
I honestly wouldn't mind a league with just the likes of us, Everton, Leicester, Leeds etc. At least we'd have a chance of winning for once. There are plenty of good players out there, they can't all go to the super league. As a West Ham fan, if they kick out the "big 6" and remove all the results against those teams, we go the to top of the table! And how will the remaining domestic league teams support themselves? They are also facing deficits, although smaller than the big clubs because they spend less on staff, and what broadcasting company isn't going to either cancel or demand to renegotiate their television broadcasting deal? You think ESPN wants to pay the same money for Eibar vs. Alaves in La Liga vs. the prospect of Barcelona or Real Madrid vs. anyone? And there are still few to no fans in the stands. They will slit their own fiscal throats sooner than you think. Not necessarily. If they are kicked out of their domestic leagues, they will not be able to support themselves on the Super League alone. I agree both sides have much to lose, but a least the remaining domestic league clubs have have a league to fall back on. There are plenty of clubs in the Championship (and the rest of the English pyramid) who would be happy to step up and replace the 6 clubs that are leaving. I agree they would need to give up a ton of the TV money, but at least they have games to play. The Super League teams won't have enough games to play to earn the TV money. And how will the remaining domestic league teams support themselves? In Italy, for example, only one club actually owns their own stadium. What kind of hit will all the smaller club and their host cities sustain if you take away the teams the draw in all the fans and sets of eyes watching the tv?
Yea it is good for the US. More content and in your example of equal baseball played in other countries a higher level of competition on average. Here is why it is bad. Yes. And if you made a super conference consisting of Alabama, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, and Oregon, Rutgers sports and 90% of the power 5 are irrelevant.would anyone really notice?
Since it is European soccer I really don’t give a **** but it’s kind of fun watching them lose their **** over this!
PS: I’d rather watch an ice hockey match than any kind of soccer
Responses to your questions:The Premier League is the best in the UK (or just England?)
Bundesliga is Germany
Serie A is Italy
La Liga is Spain
Where does PSG play? Or Ajax?
Are the French and Dutch leagues considered as good?
What about Scandinavia or Russia?
ThanksResponses to your questions:
1) Premier League is primarily England. It has included two teams from Wales - Cardiff and Swansea. Those teams are currently in the Championship League, which is one level below. They could get promoted back to the Premiership one of these years. But it's just England and Wales. No teams from Scotland and Northern Ireland.
2) PSG (Paris St.Germain) plays in France and Ajax in the Netherlands.
3) The Dutch league is definitely a notch below the Big Four. The French league? Depends on who you're talking to. Some include the French Ligue 1 in the "Big FIve". But if it's a Big Five, Ligue 1 is probably the weakest of the five. Still, that's a very nice pond to be the smallest fish in.
4) None of the Scandinavian leagues, nor the Russian league, are in the class of the Big Four or Five.
