While I agree with you about the double standards, a lot of the people who refuse to be critical of "their team" now justify it because of verifiable progressive excesses. For instance, while you're dismissing everything as "hating the gay," what we're actually talking about is a cross-dresser being invited to the White House and walking around openly showing their fake breasts.
I also don't think there needs to be a Gay Pride event at the White House anymore than there needs to be UFC fights there, although I do recognize the difference between some huge gladiatorial spectacle people had to pay to watch and something to engage an interest group that is inherently political. I suppose you could have a fairly decorous Gay Pride event at the WH, but that would mean it would be very different from other Gay Pride events that are far from the kind of buttoned up event our president should be hosting. Gay Pride events are just as inevitably going to descend into debauchery and buffoonery as UFC events are going to descend into trashiness and outlandish partisanship.
