We had that with Billy Clyde. We'd go from a players first program to a GET YOUR *** MOVING I DGAF ABOUT YOUR BROKE LEG! Type of program.
Surely you jest. What's everyone think of him? He's a likable guy and a hell of a basketball coach and he's always been very respectful towards Calipari and UK. I wouldn't mind to see Martin replace Cal here whenever he decides to hang it up.
This.I have to disagree with you.......the fact that he picked up Bowen says that he is willing to stick his foot over the line.......we don't need that mentality at UK.....UK is not Second Chance U like U6, Kansas and a few other schools.
Agree, there is not much way to sugarcoat or whitewash this.It wasn't a good move any way you look at it.I doubt he ever plays a game there. The way I understand it he could be eligible the second semester next year,so half and done at best.Lost all respect when he picked up Bowen.
Pimptino said Bowen fell in their lap. He had not recruited him at all. So I don’t know where you get UL recruited him since he was a sophomore.Frank Martin has been known to take high risk players and mold them into great college players and more importantly, men. The Brian Bowen commitment to UL though proven dirty, was different than the public perception. I always believed that Brian Bowen never step foot on campus at all. But he had been recruited by Pitino and staff since he was a sophomore.
That said, kid made a mistake choosing U6.
He like the Balls can't control what his father does. I don't know his financial situation, but I'm assuming it's not in the top 5% if you have your family living in Galt House, yes I know it's swanky but nevertheless it's a hotel. I am going to go out on a limb and say that everyone deserves a chance, he is only 18, I was a knucklehead and lucky I came from a small town se KY. Frank Martin will be a coach that doesn't take **** from players, if anyone can put Bowen on the right track it's him

Brian, his dad took the money, somebody put the family up at the Galt House for a period of time.He knew to some degree what was going on.He should not be eligible to play in college,by taking him Martin condones what went on/is going on in college basketball. The NCAA won't take a stand on anything that is fair to all, they operate on a sliding scale depending on what school is involved so it is up to the individual schools take a stand on what is right. Martin didn't do that as I see it.Seriously guys?
USCjr is not UK.
If Bowen can play it was a brilliant move for a team that rarely gets more than 2 impact players each year.
We appear a bit spoiled with our annual handful of 5 stars....
I wonder what the reactions would be if we considered Bowen back in 2007 - 2009?
Besides, his dad took the money not him....at least that is the line the fan base of whatever team he went to would say. And we would have as well before Cal.
Of course he shouldn’t be allowed to play at all. I am just glad he is not at UL.
And let’s be honest, I’d rather he get to play rather than the felonious transfers that UL, UT, and BAMA are willing to take in football.

I understand where you are coming from agree on some points but the Bowen case is only one piece of the ugly picture painted by the FBI investigation. As you say we don't know how innocent or guilty the kid was in all of this, but his family was not innocent It is truly too bad for the kid that his amateur status was collateral damage of what his father ,UL and the shoe company did.
As to what and how Cal did things at Memphis or how and what Martin and other coaches do at other schools, where they are in the pecking order doesn't define right or wrong. We see this differently and probably neither of us is 100% right or wrong, but it does make for god discussion.
Yes we do,and I like Frank Martin for some strange reason, just wish he had left this situation alone. We both agree he shouldn't be playing.
Agree, don't think he would be a good fit here at all but still the guy is good for college basketball overall.I think Martin is a very good coach, but I don't see his style as a fit here at all. He would hate all of the media and fan attention. It would drive him nuts and his brash way wouldn't sell here. In addition, his style of ball (while successful) is boring.
