I’m curious to hear what the experience was like (other than losing the game). How was everything from an operations standpoint? What was the atmosphere like?

Negatives...The pumped in crowd noise made it awful and the vote for change/social justice video made it worse, oh yeah on campus parking was supposedly $40....Positives...had plenty of room to stretch out, I got in smoothly and got a $7 beer. Student section was pretty loud... I don’t know what crowd size was but they could easily double that and still have plenty room to social distance.

Little to no energy at all the first half. Calm. Subdued. Team and most of the crowd woke up in the 4th.

All in all it was perfect weather and a beautiful day. Happy we were playing. But wasn't at all a typical gameday feel. Not even close. Was more like a spring game atmosphere

It had a spring game feeling to it. I thought the crowd struggled to stay energized. All in all, I thought the student section did pretty well.

I think they could bump it up to 50% capacity and the stadium would still have room to socially distance.

I think we will see more road teams winning this year due to lack of home field advantage.

No operation problems that I saw, other than the guy at the metal detector being overly adamant that me and my son be spaced 6ft apart. Maybe he didn’t realize we were together?

Concessions were good. I tried the sausage dog with slaw - better than the regular hotdog for sure. Might try the tacos next game. Lines were short or nonexistent where I was seated, as you would expect. Didn’t have the smaller stadium cups. Only 32oz and bottles. I’ve always preferred bottles so people don’t kick over your drink (obviously not a problem this year)

Hot Dogs still suck! Chicken tacos were like airline food. Needed something. Cheese? Sour Cream? Something. Line was very slow at our concession stand. Crowd was dead due to poor performance on the field. Very Spring Game Atmosphere. Capacity could easily be doubled or just back to normal even. Was so quiet that I often heard KJ clap the signal and I was in the 200 level. No pregame stuff on the field and no halftime show. Very boring night actually.

The 5 minute social justice/halftime video was way over the top. Most just ignored it, but I don't want to be preached to at a game I'm paying good money to attend.

I thought I was at a rap concert the majority of the game. It was probably due to crowd size but it had a spring game atmosphere.

It was just weird. Walking in with no tailgating was strange. Entry, beer, and lines were great. I had the BBQ sandwich (very dry) and CP pineapple sausage dog (solid). Clearly the Kylin injury and being down to Arkansas all game made it hard to get excited. It was clear that KJ was trying too hard to make a big pass. Leach should have told him to dump it off to the backs or run with it until they brought more than 3. No reason to not take the easy yards.

The spacing in the stadium is very inconsistent.
Everyone should be spaced out in the lower bowl for crowd noise. We have little to no home field advantage

I thought the crowd was pretty loud compared to how small it was. No problems getting in or out of the stadium. Lines were non existent at concessions and bathrooms. You can sit anywhere you want in the stadium because nobody is checking. They played an empty and broad themed social justice video at halftime that lasted an eternity and nobody listened to it. People boo’d after it was over because most of the people in that stadium worked their *** off to be able to afford to get in and don’t appreciate being told to be more “woke”.

Team sucked dick. Cohen and Covid has killed our game atmosphere.

Other than my seat sucking, crowd noise lower, fake crowd noise being pumped in, it was about the same. Restrooms and concessions were no problem.

Piped crowd noise was barely noticeable. It did nothing to inspire the team or crowd. It felt like I was at a Southern Miss game. 8-10K fans doing nothing. Oh, one good thing....BEER. Warm and expensive but an endless supply right there in the stadium. I shed a tear.

Sat in the student section, about an hour before the game started there were scores of people from the athletic department that aren't usually around the student section in normal situations trying to get people to socially distance and amazingly they were pretty nice about it. Once the game started they pretty much gave up.

Truth be told the student section was pretty close to a normal game atmosphere and there wasn't too much difference I noticed. Buying a beer at a football game was a pretty nice change

We were moved to the upper deck and couldn't help but notice that the fans around us weren't your typical upper deck type fans. Heard lots of rumblings around us about the heights and long climbs to the seats. I personally enjoyed the view of the field and change of scenery. Concessions and restrooms weren't bad at all. Maybe I'll save some money in the future and relocate up top.

Aisle seats are not safe. Too many people walking by breathing heavy. Most had mask but a few did not and the kids did not. I did not worry about it too much but I am sure a few did. A lot of people walking by you and only about a 1/2 foot distants.

I sit in lower level but it does take a little getting use to sitting that high. You can see the plays developed and you can see the interception coming before anyone on the field. It's amazing how tight coverage is.

Yeah I commented out loud on at least two of the picks that they were interceptions while the ball was in the air.

I noticed on TV how UGA and UA had the chairbacks set up in the assigned seating. The spacing looked very consistent and it made the stadium look nicer at the reduced capacity. I was hoping that our admin would do the same since so many of us are still paying the premium price for a lesser product. It would be nice to have that small benefit, plus it would encourage people to remain in their assigned seats instead of trying to move around.

I've been in East side upper deck 48 yd line for about 10 years I guess and much prefer it. I can buy faculty seats in lower East side but just don't want to. I really enjoy watching the play unfold and as others have said you can see exactly whats about to happen way before it unfolds totally. I've have friends that have invited me to sit w/ them in the Gridiron Club and the Scoreboard Club and I've done both a couple times and I wouldn't do that for anything permanently. To me the view is terrible especially from the Gridiron Club. Each to his own but I thought the food was mediocre at best too. In the upper deck we have the air conditioned concession areas with chairs and tables, seldom if ever a line for rest rooms and not long lines at concessions. If you need them there are 2 elevators now and 2 more in the long range plan. I'll stay where I'm at.

The guy with the old bulldog flag from Section 4 got moved up top. I was pissed.

Yep saw him up there. I was really surprise. I figured his Priority would have been good enough to be lower level. I guess it could be the people he goes with game with got stuck up there and he moved with him.

You may have seen the other bulldog flag guy. There's a guy that's sat near me in section 6 for years with a similar flag. Saturday he was in the section beside me, west upper deck.

The experience was fine overall. It was a very odd atmosphere. Everything from parking to walking into the stadium just had a creepy feel to it. As far as game day ops go, they get an F from me in all facets. Here are my gripes:

1.) The piped in crowd noise. It wasn’t loud enough to add any value to the atmosphere but it was just loud enough to be an annoying distraction. Playing it the entire time, non stop. Through tv timeouts and everything. ESPECIALLY when we had the ball. Doesn’t make sense why you would want a low annoying humming sound blaring from the speakers while your own team has the ball.

2.) The social justice video was absolute garbage. Completely killed what little atmosphere there was. Was 5 minutes too long, the student athletes spoke monotone the entire time throughout the video. They played it before the game and at halftime. Most people beside me immediately went to their phones or said screw it and went inside the concession area when it started. The game is no place for that.

3.) The band’s halftime performance. SO we do not allow the band onto the field at halftime but we do play a video of them performing on their practice field from a few days before. Explain to me the logic in that?

4.) Our clock operator in the stadium is a moron. If you can’t figure out when I am referring to, ask me. It was pretty obvious.

5.) The new food was good but I would like something other than bbq during the game. At the very top of the stadium that was our only choice. I guess I would have had to go all the way to the ground to get something different.

6.) Parking was not 40 that I know of. I parked over by the hump and got in and out with no issues at all. It was free parking from what I could tell. At least we weren’t asked to pay anything.

7.) The crowd. The crowd was pretty good and loud for the most part. My thing is that we could easily fit several thousand more people and still have plenty of space between everyone. It seemed to me from the looks of it that there was absolutely no system to decide who sat where. Very poorly handled by the university on this front IMO. I saw a game (maybe Clemson) where they had everyone striped from the top of the stadium to the bottom. It looked very uniform and made sense. Ours were just scattered all over the place. Not to mention I didn’t even know if I had tickets to get in until about 4 days before the game. Again, I think the entire situation was handled poorly by the university.

At the few times they showed the student section on television, it looked like it was pretty full. I don't think they could have possibly sat 2 feet apart, let alone 6.

We were moved from Section 3 to upper deck There were and infestation of Ants under our bench seat in several places and got on us several times until we got someone to come spray them and sweep them up. Very disappointed that pre-game maintenance didn’t pick up on those 200 feet off the ground.

I think the issue with the band not marching is they don't want the sidelines crowded with band members before and after halftime. Social distancing and all.

Yep, I noticed in an email monday that they were delaying the sale of student tickets until this coming monday instead of this past monday like they usually do (instead of selling student tickets two weeks in advance they are selling them 5 days in advance of the game) I have a feeling they are changing protocols and are going to sell less student tickets due to the amount of people in the student section....

What would expect them to say if you did call?

Well before Saturday, Mississippi State University had made clear where they stood with that particular political issue. They fully support it obviously.

People have different political opinions within families often. I guess buying a ticket to a MSU sporting event isn't necessarily an endorsement of the Democratic Party, as it wouldn't be if you had dinner with a Democratic relative. However if you sit down at the table, you know the Beliefs and arguments if politics should pop up in the conversation. Just up to you if you are ok with that. But you aren't changing their mind.

1. Very eerie with no tailgating.
2. Entry and exit of campus was a breeze.
3. The jumbotron volume is still set for a full stadium as it was noticably louder in the scoreboard club.
4. The 'Hey' cheer is even more screwed up since the band does it from the corner of the student section instead of the middle of the field. But, instead of a timing issue with students rushing it, it sounded more like the crowd was doing it in rounds like you used to sing row your boat when you were a kid. That, of course, was due to the speed of sound. I heard 3 distinct groups finish at 3 different times.
5. Unlike ole miss, we didn't mic our band in the stands. And, our band sounded better because of that. The natural sound is just better and although limited in number, they were plenty loud.
6. The piped in crowd noise, while not bothersome to me, was strange as I don't think they ever turned it off. Timeout, injury, let-down play etc.... it just seemed to keep going.

The NBA has learned the hard way. The finals are down something like 70% and Silva made a statement saying they will keep it out of the game next season.

Had this been a normal crowd, it could have been very bad for MSU sports.

I would say, in terms of the messages you see on the court and our jerseys, this was an extraordinary moment in time when we began these discussions with the players and what we all lived through this summer. My sense is there’ll be somewhat a return to normalcy, that those messages will largely be left to be delivered off the floor.” Adam Silver said.

I understand those people who are saying, ‘I’m on your side, but I want to watch a basketball game,” said Silver

70% down! Can you imagine how much that would push MSU back?

Down 70% would make Saturday's crowd be a normal crowd, but with tailgating allowed. It wouldn't be good.

That's good to hear. The last year we went to a game was in 2018. We left our parking lot, trying to get to Columbus, but couldn't make the turn we needed to make. Wound up having to go toward Hwy 12, and there were 4 or 5 highway patrol cars there, all with blinding LED blue lights going. Couldn't see a thing. Were forced to turn left before Hwy 12. Long story short, we wound up near Mayhew Junction, after traveling on a gravel road for some distance, and had to go north on 45, then to Columbus. Exiting campus under normal conditions is a hot mess. For some reason, GPS was useless in the boonies, and was never familiar with that part of the campus and surroundings.
