Amend the rules on what it takes to get a medical. Make them win 2 matches at WTT or something, otherwise you don’t get the O-shirt.

Somehow, the NCAA can’t even think simple well enough not to screw stuff up.
Let me blow your mind . Usaw decides what the criteria is and the NCAA allows the Olympic RS.
All Olympic sports operate that way with the governing bodies establishing the criteria.
I believe wrestling, swimming and field hockey were the sports that were given Olympic Redshirts in 2024
No more Olympic redshirts for 2028. If an athlete picks 4/5 they could use a regular redshirt in 2028

Not sure what took so long but we finally have a federal class action suit challenging the decision to not allow athletes who used their last year of eligibilty this past season without ever taking a redshirt to gain a fifth year.

Group of 11 athletes challenge new NCAA eligibility rules in suit

Eleven Division I athletes -- all who depleted their eligibility in the 2025-26 season, have filed a federal class action lawsuit alleging that the NCAA's new eligibility rules adversely affected their ability to extend their college careers.
