Thankfully we have rational people who make these decisions. Cohen went to the CWS two years ago and a super regional last year.

Matter of fact I probably go on and walk the bases full. Makes a double play at every base. But I have NEVER seen an intentional ball thrown in what looks to be the right move to intentionally walk a man, then a coach change is mind, mid intentional walk, and turn around and pitch to the batter. I have NEVER seen that. And of course, that batter beat us.How do you not walk the hitter with the winning run at third and 1 out? How do you defend that?
You need a double play.
Ok a regional. Point stands. You can't fire a coach off of two good years for one bad year, not at this school anyway.

Ok, losing a 7-2 lead with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth is on the coaches. Good grief guys, even the Cohen apologists have to agree that he, Mingione, and Thompson have had a terrible year and deserve every bit of this criticism. The constant defending of them is ringing more and more hollow.
They better get it right next year, especially if they want to start construction on the House That John Built.
This was awful and fans are rightfully pissed.
to set things straight and clear the air, you're on record as saying we will be worse next year.
How do you defend the decision tonight to pitch to a hitter with 1 out and a runner at third? Tell me how that makes sense?
They thought they could get a K there. Obviously. Had anything as small as the field being in "normal" condition been different -- that's a chopper to 3B and the guy is either frozen at 3B or hosed at home.
I thought it was a bad decision and certainly appears so with hindsight. But it was not indefensible.
It's on Cohen and Thompson and Mingione in the fact that they recruited pussies and have allowed them to remain pussies. That loss was on players being pussies. Plain and simple. And more than just one or two of them. They didn't put on 3 batters with one out to get. They didn't show up the umpire. They didn't choose to go to first on the hard bunt back to the pitcher for the first out in the 10th with a gimme at second if we aren't being uptight vaginas. They didn't cause the passed ball in the 10th -- and the ***** effort to get the ball and make a play when Collins had time to hose that guy at 3rd. They made a very perplexing decision to go after the batter after initially planning to intentionally walk him -- but that was an extremely small piece in how we actually lost that game.
When you said "They made a very perplexing decision..." you encapsulated the last 7 seasons of Miss State baseball very nicely.
That was another perfect amalgamation of our season. Prettymuch.

Have we at any point this season been able to consistently get a strike when we needed one? If coaches thought process was that he was hoping for a strike there than he is more stupid than I thought.
It is year 7 of Cohen ball. Whatever happens is on him. If we have ***** players , then he is a ***** coach. This is HIS team. HE recruited them and coaches them. HE is responsible for this team and they are an embarrassment to this program. No excuses.
And the underlined part perfectly sums up the last 7 seasons.
I'm confused where I stated otherwise?
Yep -- ***** coach. Played for a title 2 years ago. Fahrrrrr John Savage!!1!11!1
I'm not one for calling out players. These kids are a product of THIS coaching staff. It's unfair to place them in the spotlight right now. The players deserve better than this. My greatest complaint about any player has been that they don't develop under Cohen.
I did not say you stated otherwise brother. I think we agree. we got a ***** team cause cohen is a ***** coach. im on board with you.
Count was 2-0 wasn't it? How do you go for k when already down in count?
How much exactly have we won over the past 4 years? I know over the past 2 years we are 1-5 vs Ole Miss and 1-5 vs LSU in weekend series (I get the feeling going back beyond that its not much better, prove me wrong if you would like to). I consider those the two measuring stick series for our program. Ok we managed to sweep a horrendous Auburn team and and an equally horrendous Missouri team on the road last year to get to 18-12 (meaning we were 12-12 against teams with a pulse). Look I'm willing to give credit to Cohen for 2013, but in the context of the 6 other seasons, one appears to be more of an outlier than the others. I challenge you to find the most recent 7 year stretch with a worse SEC or overall record than the past 7. I'm not sure there is one.
Playing for a K is a bad percentage play every time. No hindsight needed. Just incredibly stupid. But that's the Cohen way. I'm going to play my hunches, percentages be damned. And the 10% of the time I'm right, I'll look like a genius. They thought they could get a K there.

Cohen handles our pitching staff now too? I'll just add you to the unreasonable melt category...
Cohen is butch's boss. Butch doesn't make that call without Cohen agreeing
