You won't get an answer to that. It's like Pelosi accusing Trump of killing people and calling Covid the "Trump virus." The only thing these people do is wait for someone else to make a decision, and then criticize it. They have no solutions of their own.

I have come to realize it the last 3 1/2 months that we have a bunch of *****, snowflake, idiots on this board.

Meh, it's not a bunch...it's just a few. But they are very, very, stupid, and they are very, very vocal.

Take the most rare, horrible examples of people doing bad things and blast them into the headlines, make it seem like that's what's happening everywhere. You're not safe, those people are out of control!!

Then you give them more power. Willingly give up your rights. Gladly welcome the militarization of police.

There is definitely some truth to that. I think we've all been pretty close to a situation reported on the news and we've seen how things can be blown out of proportion, erroneously reported, and slanted.

That said, the looters and arsonists should be arrested and prosecuted. If the locals won't do it, the somebody has to.

Because it's ********. A laser would have to be super powerful to inflict eye or skin damage and the recipient would feel significant heat before damage occurred. You'd move if you felt it, rest assured.
.

You are wrong. Simple laser pointers to the eye causes blind spots. https://eyedoctorsite.com/blog/can-laser-pointers-cause-blindness/

A laser pointer’s light is concentrated into a narrow beam. If aimed at a person’s eye from close up, most or all of the light goes through the pupil. The already-concentrated light is further focused by the lens onto a small spot on the retina. This causes a thermal burn in the retinal layers and may cause a scar to form.

Not only that, Blinding Lasers are weapons. They have been used on pilots. BBQ-905 Laser Dazzler Weapon, the WJG-2002 Laser Gun, the PY132A Blinding Laser Weapon, and the PY131A Blinding Laser Weapon are 4 of those weapons.

That's just a 5w 5000mw laser.

If they're so innocent, why were almost all of them carrying umbrellas around in an attempt to hide their identify? If all they were doing was peaceful protesting, then there was no need to hide.

Agree 100%. Unbelievable that we have so many here that support attacks on federal agents and police officers. Sad.

It's such an honorable quality to completely make up ******** about what other poster's said. Nobody on this board supports attacks on federal agents or police officers. Quit with the ******** lies drama queen.

Not a single person on this thread endorses the attack. Obviously any human being who shines a laser in an another human being's eyes is a piece of ****. Full stop.

However, it's fairly unlikely that this event happened exactly as described (starting with the fact that the article itself says the agents might be blinded and the OP definitively states they were), and there's a decent chance that this could be an outright hoax, as these internet rumors often are.

But if it is true, it's incredibly unlikely that the perp has similar political views to anyone on this board. Assuming he's not a Trump-loving white supremacist provocateur, as many arrested for violence have been, you can be certain he believes Biden is a far right racist and is either writing in Bernie or voting so some socialist third party clown.

Hey libs...here's your chance to enlighten us. What should the "authorities" be doing to protect their citizen and their property...now if you reply nothing realize the situation will default to the feds doing the job so let's hear it. ??????

You enforce the law and let the chips fall where they may. It's not hard.

False. Every bit of this is false. And even scarier that 6 people upvoted this, hence believing this drivel.

It really only takes a few seconds for any color laser pointer to cause damage to the macula. But I’m sure you know more than the American Board of Ophthalmology and American Board of Optometry.

That sucks, tyrannical governments aren't pretty for anyone. Maybe you should stop voting for it.

Voting for a tyrannical government. Is that an oxymoron?

You should move to a place with a tyrannical government, I’d love for you to see the difference in between than and the US. Maybe you can move to one that does not allow people to drive, that way you won’t continue to 17 up the whole left lane thing.

Let me start by saying that I support peaceful non violent protest 100%. Once people start looting, burning and rioting you lose my support 100%.

I fully support law enforcements efforts to bring out of control mobs under control provided said law enforcement adheres to the letter of the law.

Now to the OP, why did you purposefully over sensationalize the post? I read the article. It said they MAY have some vision problems. It did not say what you reported in your screaming banner. You are part of the problem. I sincerely hope none of those LEOS are permanently injured.

There have been numerous protesters injured as well, some permanently. Just the other day a graduate of the US Naval Academy was injured by these police for not doing much of anything other than standing there. This incedent was recorded. Does that make some of you happy? If it does you are a sick bastard. You are just as sick as the ******** who injured the cops. There is no difference between you two. Society would be much better off without the both of you.

Instead of rushing in to sensationalize **** like this especially when the real details are sketchy, how about maybe give it a day or so to see what really went down. All you frikin knee jerk reactionaries are what’s tearing this country apart. Give it a rest!

By injured you mean he might have broken his wrist?

It’s pretty clear in the video he is being told something and won’t do it.

I mean in the back ground you can see smoke, chaos, officers in full body gear. If the 17ing police tell you to get out of the street, DO IT.

If I am in the street and they tell me to move multiple times and I defiantly stand in front of them disobeying a lawful order, whatever happens is on me.

I fully support officers doing their job.

Deal with rioters like any other criminal.

When riot cops and federal goons start beating the **** out of peaceful protestors and journalists, that's where I draw the line.

Here's the story. Draw your own conclusions. I think they went above what was called for in the situation. Not moving does not warrant having your hand broke. Pepper spray, maybe, but not a baton on somebody just standing there. That was overkill. He was outnumbered. They could have spun him around and put cuffs on him, or possibly even put him on the ground and cuff him. This was NOT what was called for.

It surely isn’t always obvious that you are on the “right” side.

And it really doesn’t matter how long it takes, or how far away, or how powerful it is.

What matters is why?

Why would you point a laser in a officers eyes (or anyone’s)?

They have guns.
They have the law on their side.
They have guns.
They are there risking much.
They have guns.
They are public servants way more than politicians are.
They have guns, tear gas, mace, etc.

WHY? Why would anyone do it? And, if someone does do it, why would anyone be upset at the consequences that moron receives?

17 if I know why people use laser pointers for this. I'm guessing they do it to be dicks and 17 with 'the man'.

FYI waving a laser around makes it easier for snipers to choose targets.

Downvote away, you sympathizers of jobless, spineless, destructive, godless degenerates.

I'd gladly volunteer. A couple doses of "pink mist" will end this quickly.

Why is authorities in quotes?
Regardless, I think authorities should stop violence thru deterrence and arrests when necessary.
Deter first if possible thru discussion and warning.
If property is being damaged, work to stop the damage and arrest if necessary.
If people are being hurt work to stop the damage and arrest if necessary.

Seems reasonable to me. People keep posting examples of police not stopping violence and damage, but it seems ok to me if they stopped it.

This board took a HUGE left turn when Cohen was hired. It doesn’t even seem debatable at this point. I wish I was clueless as to Cohens political viewpoints, as an athletic dept should be run, but it’s spilling over. FWIW, I support KH and the flag change, but it’s getting weird in here.

Harming officers is wrong. I cant believe I feel compelled to state the obvious, but if i dont then morons post about how I'm defending people that hurt others.

Ok so moving on- how long does a laser pointer need to be in someone's eye for damage to occur? I have 0 idea, this is a genuine question.
I cant imagine people could get the laser into an eye from distance for more than a moment, like less than a second. The victim would obviously move one it was felt and at that point its trying to hit a tiny moving target...right?
Or is it much easier than im imagining?

Awful to hear people are being hurt.

This seems like a sincere question that so many people on here have no idea about. Yes these lasers can be incredibly dangerous. In the US lasers are limited to 5 mw of output which if you blink fast enough is "safe". The problem are most of the cheap eBay/Chinese lasers are not regulated and can be more powerful or easily modified to be more powerful. It is also very common for the cheap green lasers to not have a proper IR filter which makes them cause more damage.

The police officer in the streets take orders. Their is a hierarchy in cities. In many areas, those officers have been told to not engage even when a person is getting beat down. That actually happened this weekend. In Denver, the head of the Police Union clearly stated that an order was given to retreat.

My question is why are these things only happening in Dem controlled cities.

This board went from good ole baw dove hunting and steak talk to social justice suffragettes starting around when Cohen was hired. His household political viewpoints are well known, but I prefer an apolitical Athletic Department. From Vic bouncing for no apparent reason (only speculative) to Cohen forcing Leach into a clusterfrick of a situation about a pathetic nothingburger of a tweet turned sinisterly racist made worse by decisions to Frankenstein a dead story.

I don’t think I see the connection that you’re trying to make.

And I don’t think you want an apolitical AD, you just don’t want a liberal one. If our AD posted something on twitter about all lives matter or supporting trump, I’m sure you’d be fine with it.

No, there were just fewer political posts and you could live inside the bubble believing you were shouting into an OWM echo chamber.

When political posts started really permeating the board, that bubble popped. I’m sorry the fanbase isn’t the reality you perceived it to be.

Wrong. I don’t want my AD making any political statements. That should be the expectation because any statement one way or another will alienate a segment of the fanbase when the job of the AD is to unite the fan base behind the team and university.
