He has to make some changes.. Big ones.. Staff shakeup.. His recruiting pitch.. His business plan of getting guys the the nba as fast as possible..

Or I do agree.. Fans will turn. I'm not entirely happy myself. And when the fans turn he'll get weary and tired and will move on from Kentucky..

Were we really? We were playing above our heads and were lucky that we were even in that position.

Something needs fixed here
Our team last year was an elite team and we must've played out of our mind TWICE. Because we beat the champion last year and almost beat them again. This team isn't last years team but you never know when a team can click. I'm just hoping we turn it around.

The scary/sad thing is he’s subtly tried to “tweak” it a bit by recruiting kids who “want” to play together. The thing is — it’s burned us two years in a row: we don’t have Trae Young — and even with Quade we still whiffed on Bamba..

This year we got Zion’s “best buddy” Quickley .. and we whiff on Zion.

Also, many thought Drake would help with Zion (let’s face it — it’s why Cal brought Drake to BBM) and it didn’t — and we thought Canada connections (Jamal Murray) might help with Barrett (and it didn’t)

Matt Jones tweeted tonight that as of this summer Cal thought he was going to get Zion and Barrett. At one point he had to feel good about Bagley. Something is going on..

We were one play away from the final four last year and had a team capable of winning it all. Eat ****. Ok frustrated too but it doesn't mean our coach sucks. This season isn't over yet and I remember all the morons going wild in 2014 and we went on a deep tourney run and everyone pretended like they didn't think the sky was falling the whole year.
You **** and choke on it. Doesn’t matter how close we were, fact is we didn’t make it. Even if we had, we probably find a way to choke away another title. Cal’s ways have gotten old and tonight has highlighted that.

Cal was leaving the moment Brad moves on anyway. I'd hate for this to get bad and he leave with friction. I wanted Cal to drop the mic and go out on top in a couple of years.

Cal is at a point in his life where he is doing what is important to him as a coach. Unfortunately that isn't in complete alignment with UK fans at the moment.

This team could go 38-0 and the NCAA will make sure we dont go undefeated. This team could go 29-11 and the NCAA will make sure to screw us in the National Title game. It doesn't matter. I've accepted the NCAA hates us. We could 34-0 and still end up in the toughest region in the big dance.

Sissies.

Let the season continue on. We have some not very bright players who may or may not get it. We have had multiple games won and gave it away.

Still no team cohesion. Chances aren't great they will do anything fantastic in the tournament but we still have time. Crying now won't do anything.

And stop worrying about 4-6 players leaving.

It will be a stretch to have 3 freshmen given 1st round guarantees much less 4.

We have not had more than 3 freshmen go pro any year since 2010. We have not had a freshman leave without being drafted in the 1st Round.

Gabriel may go for money somewhere? Who knows?

Tai goes home? So what?

More people here secretly crying because of Duke getting Zion, 2015 should tell you nothing is guaranteed.

Whining about Cal mid-season when we were a last second shot from yet another FF last season and he has taken teams in 2011and 14 far in the tournament after poor regular seasons is premature, coach deserves the benefit of the doubt. He's earned it.

This total meltdown simply by projecting things that you have no idea of is weak sauce.

If K does win it all next season he is probably gone and if he doesn't with all that talent he probably retires too... they are better than us right now and unless Cal figures it out our best hope is K walks away after next season.

If you think I’m squirming when Cal leaves you’re sadly mistaken. Bottom line is he’s always been an average coach who made a living recruiting. Now that he isn’t doing great at that he’s just like any other coach. A massively overpaid and overrated one at that. The last 3 years have been VERY Tubby-like.

On no! 3 WHOLE YEARS and only one final four. Terrible

Dont you just love the people who show their anger and frustration at other fans instead of the team and coach that deserve it? Yeah its our fault the team isnt good. Its all because we're frustrated and tired of the downward trend we're on after the 2015 wisconsin loss. Has nothing to do with Cal refusing to change his methods to fit in with the new rules the summer after the wisconsin loss that benefits shooting teams ...

And I’m not talking about all the people that had been complaining to this point.

Losing Zion to Duke, losing at home to an unranked Florida team, and now probably losing 4-6 guys off of a team that just isn’t good.

Even the bluest of goggles, myself included, are starting to think things might be headed in the wrong direction.
No way is this team losing as many as 6 guys unless at least 2 players transfer.

Villanova doesn't have 5 burger boys starting and they are doing quite well. Just needs to adapt and get some good 4 year players to go along with some studs. The writing is on the wall the NBA is going to kill the one and done sooner rather than later. William Clyde Gillespie to Cal. I'll stick with Cal. Cal was several bad calls from having another championship or two. Out of his control. Top three players go to Duke smells fishy. Also out of Cal's control. No call tonight. Out of his control. What's with all the Cal hatred?

I'm not the least bit worried about Zion. He's a human highlight film and that's great for the fans enjoying the game, Duke will love him but , honestly, I'm ready for us to get some guys back so I don't have to hear that damn wait until March crap that people spout on here with a freshmen laden team. I'm ready to watch the Cats dismantle teams in December. I want Duke next year. A loss to UK would completely derail their first half of their season.

Elite teams dont lose at home to KU and UCLA .... and to your most hated rival in UL on top of it. Sorry but last year was NOT elite. Maybe making a final four could of forgiven some of those losses.......

I truly get all the frustration, but we are victims of our own success.
Cal made Coach K get off his *** and change, and change he did.
Things haven;t been going good thats for sure, but for this old timer, I still stand with my Cats.
Not saying I agree or like everything thats happening, but it ain't over till the fat lady sings.
Its times like these the "blue" in a Cat fan shows.

Kentucky is the only team in the nation losing one year guys to the D-league. That's fine looking out for your kids, but you also are hired to coach at this University. I'm all for doing the best for the kids but OAD to the D league is not in the best interest of anyone.
Calipari can't make them stay if they want to leave. And most rookies end up in the D League some if they aren't producing immediately, which is going to be most rookies.

If Briscoe and Humphries can leave, I’ll go ahead and speculate and assume 4-6 will leave. Thanks though! Positionless Basketball is fantastic!!!!

No, it was just a bad day as a Cats fan (it happens) and you are relishing being able to use it as ammo to try and justify your ridiculous claims and expectations.

My point is all the freshmen, not discounting your number.

Again, never had more than 3 frosh leave since 2010. Wenyen and Tai may go for other reasons. So that's 5.

A complete overhaul in our strategy is needed at this point. We are no longer getting the best players so we now need to toss this "players first", "dribble drive" and "one and done" crap into the garbage can. It worked for a while but it is no longer working. Is Cal savvy enough to recognize that the landscape has changed? Or will he be stubborn and stick with what is obviously failing?

Go back to being a "program first" school that recruits to its needs. There's nothing wrong with trying to get some studs here and there when we can. But we definitely need more multi-year type guys. We need guys with the right mindset and attitude. We need more shooters. We need a more structured offense. And we need less of this "me first" **** that has infected this program and the horrible one on one kinda offense that was developed to cater to these kind of players. It needs to start being about the name on the front of the jersey again, not the name on the back of it.

The bottom line is Cal is supposed to be the best in the world at recruiting and we are getting our asses handed to us by Duke year after year. Next year is a lost cause. Mail it in. Give Duke the trophy. We are losing recruit after recruit to them.
Next, this team just flat out is not very good. We have 0 shooters. No go-to-guy. I don't know how it gets much better this year. Can we get better.... Yes? But can players that cannot shoot or really even score all of the sudden become good at it... No.
Also, does it matter if they leave or come back.... I mean, they just are not very good. A few of them have potential to be solid, but not great. I'll withold judgment on Vanderbilt because he's only played two games, but clearly he can't shoot since he hasn't even attempted a jump shot.
This circling, dribble driving offense works when your players are good and can create shots, hit jumpers, kick out and hit threes, but our players can't.
I don't have the answers. I know some of you will hate all this and act like I'm not a fan, but to those I say, "None are so blind as those who do not wish to see."
Do I think we should fire Cal? Well hell no. But something does have to change. Like some other posters have correctly stated, I am all for "players first" but at some point Cal has to realize that you are the coach of the University Of Kentucky and the front of that jersey means a hell of a lot to those of us who have been UK fans since we were in the crib. I BLEED the bluest of blue. I could care less if we have 5 first round picks if we don't win the championship. Who does? And I damn sure don't want a team full of mediocre players who leave after one year to go to the D league. Again, I'm not saying we should mutiny or anything, I'm just saying something needs to be done. Cal has some things to answer for in my opinion. We should have 3 championships since he's been here without a doubt, and we have one.
Again, I don't have the answer, but I do expect something to change because I don't want to continue watching the team I love be a glorified NBA d league training camp where stars and mediocre players come and leave after one year and do nothing for our University. Here at UK, like it or not, its banner or bust. You're move Cal.
