Briscoe and Humphries weren't freshmen - I suspect they both realized they had reached their ceiling with UK
I never said anything about Freshmen. If Humphries and Briscoe can leave to play pro somewhere, so can Wenyen, SKJ, whoever.

I'm not ready to jump ship, here. This is a discouraging season, but Cal is a smooth dude. We'll be okay... Just not this season.

We’ve missed out on about four national championships with the way the breaks went so enduring this crap (this season) is always discouraging. We were a last second shot (and crooked officiating) away from winning it all last year only to lose our team and end up with this squad.

That’s why losing under this system always hurts. Because it’s not like you’re returning anyone to help. It’s starting all over again and hoping the class lives up to some of the hype.

I don't know if Barbee is to blame for anything but I never like the idea of former head coaches returning back to being assistants. Its a host of issues. You want a young hungry guy who is going to kill himself trying to make a name in the college ranks. Antigua, Pastner - wouldn't want either one back. Once they get the head coaching position, they can't recapture that desire again.

As for kids leaving, I'm sure we'll lose 1, maybe 2, and I know this isn't the rationale that can be applied to their decision making but they're kidding themselves - if we or they think there are players on that team that won't be in the G League in 2 years trying to keep from playing overseas. They all need to return

When we lose guys who are never projected to be first round picks, I just assume they all leave. Watch us lose three at least.

Villanova doesn't have 5 burger boys starting and they are doing quite well. Just needs to adapt and get some good 4 year players to go along with some studs. The writing is on the wall the NBA is going to kill the one and done sooner rather than later. William Clyde Gillespie to Cal. I'll stick with Cal. Cal was several bad calls from having another championship or two. Out of his control. Top three players go to Duke smells fishy. Also out of Cal's control. No call tonight. Out of his control. What's with all the Cal hatred?
Yep, the last time they made it past the first weekend besides 2016 was 2009. One good run since 2009 and all of the sudden we are doing it wrong?

There is not one, ONE, ONE kid on this team that is a first round choice. The only kid I ever wanted to blow up in 52 years of following UK other than Dialo was Bobby McCowan for breaking curfew in Starkville, MS. Everybody needs to stay and with the new kids, maybe there will be enough stability to make next year a year when we can make a deep run.

Well Joe B Hall left after 12 years and Tubby left after 10 years...and in both cases not exactly by choice (Hall may be an elder stateman now but in 1985...at least behind the scenes, not so much). And this is now Cal's 9th season....you guys apparently think he's lost his edge somewhat?

I guess just like a President/prime minister, even the greatest ones at some point have an expiration date. I'm certainly not ready to declare the sky is falling now but I kinda understand where the rest of you are coming from.

I think you missed my point completely. Just trying to say the one and done is coming to an end soon, but you don't have to start 5 freshmen every year to be good. Villanova is ranked first at the moment are they not, without a ton of star power. You are absolutely correct that they don't make a lot of deep runs in the tournament. I was not saying adopt Jay Wrights philosophy. Just Cal will find another way to win once the NBA pulls the plug. Also mentioned that he would have won a couple more times if it were not for things that were out of his control.

This team could go 38-0 and the NCAA will make sure we dont go undefeated. This team could go 29-11 and the NCAA will make sure to screw us in the National Title game. It doesn't matter. I've accepted the NCAA hates us. We could 34-0 and still end up in the toughest region in the big dance.

This! After losing to UNC in the E8 last year I said that Cal wouldn’t win another title here, and not because of his style or his system, but because the NCAA won’t allow it. They will stack the deck against us wether we’re 33-1 as a 1 seed or 24-10 as an 8 seed.

This has been a longtime coming. Zion nothing to do with it. We have back to back losses and guaranteed to lose multiple guys after this season. Sick and damn tired of a "players first program".

The problem is Kentucky wasn't doing any better before. News flash they won't do any better after.

If you think I’m squirming when Cal leaves you’re sadly mistaken. Bottom line is he’s always been an average coach who made a living recruiting. Now that he isn’t doing great at that he’s just like any other coach. A massively overpaid and overrated one at that. The last 3 years have been VERY Tubby-like.

It’s sometimes hard to fathom how dumb you are

The problem is, our fans aren't patient enough to have a coach build a team like that. They complain about one and one, but don't seem to think players improve from one season to the next unless it's someone who could've went pro like a Terrance Jones. The worst thing about one and done for UK is our fans seem to have forgot how it takes certain players awhile to develop and learn the game better. Good news is the one and done is probably going to be done away with soon so all teams will be on a more equal playing field, at least the blue bloods.

Kentucky is the only team in the nation losing one year guys to the D-league. That's fine looking out for your kids, but you also are hired to coach at this University. I'm all for doing the best for the kids but OAD to the D league is not in the best interest of anyone.
This is a good point. When you lose OAD’s that leave a Final Four or title behind its one thing or at least lose top-5 picks, that’s understandable - but to lose 10–15 games (this team will) and have them all leave is wearing on many.

Already have turned. Name me something that is better at UK than at Duke right now. UK is not the gold standard anymore. I hate it, but that goes to Duke.
Another gem of a post. Just stop pretending to be a UK fan. Nobody believes it anyway.

Disagree. We would be patient IF we thought most of these guys will return. How are we supposed to be patient when this roster will look completely different next year? Patience in the one and done world is a luxury we cant afford

Why is it that whenever a critique occurs over a game, or fans' opinion on the current state of the team, or just the mention of a period of bad weather, Tubby and BCG get brought up?

Need look no further than secondary market ticket prices to see how many fans have already turned. UL tickets were as cheap as they've been since pre-Pitino.

And I’m not talking about all the people that had been complaining to this point.

Losing Zion to Duke, losing at home to an unranked Florida team, and now probably losing 4-6 guys off of a team that just isn’t good.

Even the bluest of goggles, myself included, are starting to think things might be headed in the wrong direction.

it's happened to most if not all coaches here at one point or another.

Dont you just love the people who show their anger and frustration at other fans instead of the team and coach that deserve it? Yeah its our ******** fault the team isnt good. Its all because we're frustrated and tired of the downward trend we're on after the 2015 wisconsin loss. Has nothing to do with Cal refusing to change his methods to fit in with the new rules the summer after the wisconsin loss that benefits shooting teams ...

Never hear it in person though , do you?
Wonder why??

So, maybe for a year or two, possibly, we would be second, or even third? Wow, I wonder how the Duke fans survived all those years when we were first? I remember, not too awfully long ago, the last of the Tubby years, and then suffering through the nightmare called Billy G. You know what, this isn't all that bad. Plus, it makes sense that Catbenimble, Zaytoven, and ck-2 are all over these posts. They are probably UL fans who are dying to see Cal leave, so they can beat us once more. A year after Cal does decide to hang it up, real fans will be looking back at this as the good old days.

My family has season tickets, had them since Rupp opened. I'm just being realistic. I Love UK, but very frustrated with the state of the program. Not a fan of the turnstile program.

Realistic? UK was 32-6 last year. Lost to eventual champ on a last second shot. This season ain't over yet. If you don't like the program anymore, plenty of options for you.
