I know, I know, it's not nice to kick someone when they are down, but hell, the guy is stealing $2M per year, so here it goes:

"I can tell you this about the offense: We'll have an offense that can score points," Ash said. "It's going to be exciting and it's going to be fun to watch and it's going to be one that players are going to want to be a part of and fans are going to want to watch and show up every Saturday on the field. "

"If we play a defense that is big and physical up front and maybe we don't match-up with a two-back pro-style look we get in the gun and spread them out and do some different things," Ash said. "At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter. I know a lot of fans are concerned about that. At the end of the day, in this day and age, you have to be able to score points. And we're going to put an offense that can score points."

"As a defensive coach, I faced a lot of different types of offenses, and I know what I want to see offensively," Ash said. "I know what hurts defenses. I know what I don't want to see each week."

"Game day, calling it, might be the easiest thing to do. It's actually formulating that plan throughout the course of the week, making sure you're sound and you're adjusting right and what you're going to do in situations that will probably be the bigger task.”

"My overall defensive philosophy is about simplicity and effort and fundamentals and belief in what you're doing. ... It's all about the details and all about being a really good teacher."

"Nobody said this was going to be easy. This is a tough turnaround, and for anybody that is frustrated more than me, I'd like to see it. I'm frustrated, but I also know we're going to keep working. We came here with a plan, but there's a lot of things that go in to turning around a program, and it doesn't happen overnight." — Ash

I'm not even going to put the one where in year 3 we were going bowling.

The moment Ash got scared and hired Kill to slow down the offense and run out the clock, he sealed his fate.
He completely reversed everything he said.

I truly believe that if he had stuck to his plan and hired another spread-type OC we would be showing marked improvement offensively in year 3 and at least competitive against the rest of the division, if not projected for a bowl.

"Nobody said it was going to be easy, I never came here and promised any wins. I never said we couldn't win games either, I never did that. I came in with a process and a plan and we're going to stick to that plan, we're going to keep going. We're going to recruit, we're going to develop, we're going to keep coaching just like we did when we first got here."

Ash comments on the Michigan 78-0 loss.

Hires OC Kill......

Coach Ash - you keep using those words. I do not think they mean what you think they mean.

How about we add a pat Hobbs quote here that will live on forever .
From December 2015 on chris Ash:

"In 25 years in higher education, he's the single best interview I've had with any individual," said Hobbs, the dean emeritus at Seton Hall Law School.

"And I say that not because it was a polish or like an interview technique. He is the person that came to this with the most knowledge of Rutgers and where we are, with a plan in his head for how we were going to attack this and what we were going to do.

Incredible.
We are circling the rim then down into the bowl, he never clarified which bowling he was referring too. So in a way he is a clairvoyant he was right all along. We are going to be in a bowl. Just not the one we hoped

Hobbs forgot to mention he's interviewed people for two positions in his life: nanny and head football coach at a B1G school.

I see arithmetic may not be a strong point. 8 games remaining out of 12 is approximately 67%. Still plenty of the season to be sure.

Ha you’re correct .
I would say ash’s arithmetic is worse than mine. The goal is to score more points than the other team.

So was Ash just spewing pure "tell 'em what they want to hear" ******** (apparently what breezed him through the interview) or has he just been that terrible at doing what he wants?

Not a good look either way.

Well, perhaps a backhanded compliment but at least he wasn't the RU head coach who said "one day our better will be better than their better" after another bad loss.

When you're going through a tough situation, trying to build a program and turning things around, that (fan apathy) is (a concern) because the perception for recruiting is important,'' Ash said. "I think we do a great job of communicating our vision, our plan, and what we want the program to look like in the future to recruits. That's why I think in the last couple years, we've signed some really outstanding players and I think that's why we will in the future.

"We do want fan support and we do need fan support. They want to see us win. We will get there, I promise you
