Anyone notice the bloody shins on the power cleans? I like it. A few scraped up shins shows they’re puttin’ in work. I’m guessing we haven’t seen bloody shins effort level in the weight room in several years.

They should hold fall camp in Junction, Texas and practice on dirt fields full of goat head burrs and run gassers for three hours at a time. That would probably free up a lot of scollies for 2019.

They took pics of the players in January, and Frost was not impressed. There in no comparison in terms of how closely their nutrition is being monitored vs the previous staff. They are even wearing Fitbits to monitor the amount of sleep they get each night.

Very true

I remember when BTN was doing their rundowns on each team after they had visited each campus. The talent maybe it was Gerry Dinardo -commented that Nebraska looked and practiced like a PAC 10 team. We were- the Oregon State of the plains- makes me nauseous even thinking about it. Yeah- lets copy some loser program from the west coast- thatll work

Heard Nick Saban speak at a Nike Coach of the Year Clinic in Orlando
He said EVERYTHING Bama does is a competition
They used these rubber devises called TUGS- to do tug of war- so their kids wouldnt get rope burns. Competition is how the big boys train their kids to be warriors and love competition

Clemson does the same thing:

Bigger surprise is if Gebbia is NOT the starter this fall IMO.
If I had to guess now. I would say it will a battle between him and Martinez. With Gebbia winning out. He could shock us all but I don't see POB being much in the mix.

If I were POB and was not in the mix, I'd think about giving Craig Bohl a call. Personally, I think he is very much in the mix.

Why would it be more of a surprise?
Because all the feedback on him last year made it sound like he was the true #2 performer but they wanted to preserve his RS. Because he'll have had two springs and a fall of playing college football and practicing against D-1 athletes.

Because he's a notorious film rat so he's certainly not going to be outworked in terms of knowing the offense. Because he's probably the best passer on campus. Because POB looked shaky at best in limited backup duty last year. Because Martinez has played exactly one game involving real contact in the last year.

Because there's a lot more throwing involved with this offense than people realize and as the staff battles to build an OL and running game, they may find themselves having to air it out to try to stay in games.

That was my thought process. Three QBs practicing in a new system. All 3 ran some in their high school systems, with Martinez and O'Brien having better success running the ball than Gebbia, and O-Brien and Gebbia both throwing for 70+ completion %. Martinez was at 60%, but ran for 1,400 yards as a junior. Looks pretty wide open to me.

That thing looks like a good way to have a foot or ankle injury due to the close proximity of the players foot placement to one another.

I don't think it is going to come down to talent or skill level. We all know, all 3 are very talented Qbs and athletes. It is going to come down to who does the most work and learns the quickest. Right now by all accounts Gebia has been studying and watching film more than anyone on the team since Frost got there. Also seems to be stepping up as a team motivator and leader.

What I really think....is that we are all wasting time and bandwidth discussing who the starter will be. To me it's the same as Crystal Balls and placing percentages on the likelihood of getting players to commit. All of it is a waste of one's time, because none of us know much about what is going on in the hallowed halls of North Stadium.

Even when I heard directly from a guy that had lunch with Frost leading up to his hiring, I still wasn't placing percentages on Frost's being hired. I guess when it comes to Nebraska football, I stick with what is black and white and try to stay away from the gray areas.

Edit - Not judging anyone for supposition or floating rumors or the like. It's part of what makes Husker football fun for some. It's just not really my thing.

No one should take offense or be bothered by guessing the QB spot. If Gebbia or Martinez wins out (yes or OBrein), then so be it. We will be in good hands. Both were top 100 QBs.

I for one don’t care which wins, I just hope he’s ready to roll and does well. I don’t care if the winner is a huge runner like Vince Young or Michael Vick. Just as long as he’s hitting on hit comp. percentage, doesn’t throw a bunch of picks and can manage the offense. I’m more then confident that Frost can and will figure out how to make our offense dangerous still, even if our starting QB can’t run a 4.3 40 and/or can’t break ankles with the jukes.

I’d be happy if Martinez wins out and I’d also be happy if Gebbia wins it. Again, we SHOULD be in good hands regardless who wins the spot. This is my opinion only, but if OBrein wins out...then we may not be setting very well at QB. He was a freshman last year sure, but he just didn’t seem to have that “IT” to him last year. But who knows, maybe Frost and our QB coach/OC will flip the switch on for OBrein.

He showed me very quick feet, the ability to flip his feet into good throwing position like a catcher has to do throwing to 2nd base. I recall one pass in particular that made me say wow out loud was when he was dropping back and spotted the TE popping open and stopped on a dime, flipped his feet and threw an accurate pass. The quickness in terms of making the decision and then executing it was special, at least in my eyes. There is little doubt in my mind who was the best QB on campus before Martinez got here. He's the wild card, he's not going to outwork Gebbia.
