Unfortunate, wrights a very good player but Marcus Hammond is by no means a settle, he’s very good and may fit us better.

Wright actually would have been a PERFECT fit because of his shooting and rebounding.

Hammond looks good too, though.

Didn't Bobbi Klintman also choose Colorado? Not exactly a blue blood but I hear Boulder is very nice.

It completely invalidates your argument so probably a smart move by you
To be fair, I completely forget he existed. However, the point more or less is Pike is a significantly better coach than recruiter over the last 4 years or so

All due respect. Agee was a bust and until proven differently so is Hyatt

BUT HE CLOSED ON THEM. The post said he didn’t close on anyone. Words have meaning. People just want to say nonsense because they’re frustrated for whatever reason but hyperbole doesn’t help anyone.

Think we have different opinions on what a target is then. Agee for sure wasn’t it, it was clearly Paulicap. Simpson was taken after they missed on Floyd. Reiber and Woolfork were taken after missing on guys too.

Cliff was 100% the target, as was Paul. Jaden probably was too, Mathis too.

He 100% is a good coach and developer of talent, but to say he has struggled the last few years in recruiting is a completely fair assessment.

Struggled is better than “hasn’t closed on anyone” which flat out isn’t true. Words matter. And when you recruit you plan on misses and have back up plans.

He’s landed one big time recruit 4 out of the last 5 years. We missed last year but that was the first time in awhile.

For some of you, its gotta be allllll good all the time, there shall be no criticism of any sort. Anyone who says pike is a great man and was the right hire in 2016 but he kinda sucks at on the offensive end of the floor and recruiting is treated like they're hitler. It is okay, you are allowed to criticize where warranted.

Let’s not put recruiting failures all on pike. There’s a staff that’s supposed to set the table, but that table has been mighty empty lately. You’d think $600k would at least pick up some appetizers.

I have been pretty critical of the offense in the past, but actually in the second half of the year once Mulcahy stepped up, they played vastly better offensively than they have in the recent past. The last two losses of the season against Iowa and Norte Dame were almost entirely due to defensive breakdowns, particular excessive switching, especially with Cliff coming out to the perimeter. Iowa and ND moved the ball around, found open players, and had open lanes to the basket. The team never adjusted to what was happening to them.

correct. Dave, there was zero competition lol. Between the 4 of them they had one other power conference offer. Your arms are gonna get tired from carrying pikes water if you don't slow down

That guy is a blind homer.. try being objective once in awhile. How can you say his recruiting has been good?

Hyatt isn’t a bust. Solid role player .

And two big free throws against Indiana . Has there been any bigger free throws made in rutgers history ??
I don't think he was brought in to play 10 minutes a night and be a role player.

Wrong. This is an example of our country today. If you disagree with someone on the right, you’re a liberal. If you disagree with someone on the left, you’re a racist.pike has clearly recruited well, he gets no credit for it because he doesn’t get the big fish. And he wins with who he gets. I have no clue how this portal class will turn out, but given his success here at Rutgers, the quiet majority will wait it out and see how things finish. We will also support him and the team. That’s what fans do. We would love for Rutgers to recruit like Kentucky and win like Duke. But we ain’t them. Nor do I think what we’ve become is our ceiling. I believe we can, in ANY sport, be a top third team of the B1G and win titles, even natty’s, occasionally. But it is always a slow ascent.
