Wonder if Michigan State would take him? They were the favorite until Penny made an offer he could't refuse. He logged minutes against Gonzaga too. I expect he will leave Memphis tho, they were much better without him playing.
He shot them out of the Gonzaga game. Put him in and he became a chucker, most of them bad one on one shots.Just another example of underaged/underdeveloped talent getting exposed in D1.
Worse than Boston and not eligible for the draft this yearHe is way better than Boston was. He will be a first round pick this year.
He had better stats in less minutes playing in more meaningful games than Boston on a much more successful team. Plus Bates was a year and a half younger than BostonWorse than Boston and not eligible for the draft this year
They were not a much more successful team in the games he played. They were almost .500 in a mid major conference until he left the team and they went on a tear..

That is my understanding as well. He may end up at Michigan St.Worse than Boston and not eligible for the draft this year
Uh hell no!!Bates is raw but has a ridiculously high ceiling. It isn't Cals style but if Sharpe leaves and we are left with a bunch of role players again, I'd take him ina heartbeat and run the offense through him. Let him be "the man" like he wants to be. Better than watching the weave for 25 seconds with undersized and underathletic guards bc you know we aren't going to run an O to get good shooters good looks consistently.
Why is he not eligible?Worse than Boston and not eligible for the draft this year
I hate to say it but even the early season Memphis team would have destroyed the Boston UK team. They were not a much more successful team in the games he played. They were almost .500 in a mid major conference until he left the team and they went on a tear.
That’s also for penny who has shown to not be as good at meshing elite talent. He truly just lets the players run the show. Bates was also barely 18 so another year of maturity helps.Uh hell no!!
Want no part of him.
When the team gets better, as soon as you stop playing, uh... that says it all.
NBA.I know he left Memphis does anyone know where he will end up ?
They did not become “a much more successful team” until after Bates stopped playing. They were crap during the part of the season when he was starting..

Why is he not eligible?

I think you are correct & I don't think you will see him reclass.Dillingham may be in the same boat if he were to re-classify into the '22 class. He would be playing as a 17-year old until January. He would be a two year guy I think.
I believe 18 years olds still can be drafted IF they turn 19 during the same calendar year of the draft. But Bates doesn’t even pass that test, he just turned 18 like a month or two ago. Thanks for the information. I had thought it was okay after one year of college.
