Having traveled many paths through life and moving through many organizations involving people one thing was for sure when new people show up there is some chaos and pecking order needing to be established
When you boys from Iowa show up with your ideas and ways of doing it one will definitely see some train wrecks and damage from getting to know one another
Generally going slow and smooth works good but most of us say F IT and just go balls to the walls out the chute
And the well documented and written words definitely had royal origin LOL
On the slow and smooth approach vs eff it, an angle to this is that HROT was shut down without warning. I had resigned myself to it just ending as we knew it after 25 years (I would have just paid the $120 but then my FSU homies would have been left out plus many who won't pay the $120 out of principle). Then a couple of guys started DMing other posters through On3 (FSU guys, ironically enough, who rehomed to HROT after their site shut down and/or went to hell), and word spread organically. That is why it was like that scene in a movie where a couple people show up to a party and then more uninvited guests just keep walking endlessly through the door as more and more people figured out in real time what was going on. We mostly kept to ourselves in that original thread and then something happened where all hell broke loose. It was all likely in response to Piggy. Then as the reality set in that our old site was probably not going back to how it was anytime soon, we set up a lot of the familiar threads we liked (Wordle, Putin, Maptap, Memes, 100 mg THC, etc). I guess that really rubbed people the wrong way as a lot of it
IS truly sophomoric. Then a few guys found this place who rub a lot of people the wrong way (Scruddy, Gibbs, Northern, etc) who actually vibed with guys like Piggy and John Hughes, and basically this place has turned into a copy of where we were, integrated with what you all have going on. It is actually quite an interesting case study.
