Why would we force out our point guard that played 26 mins. We didn't have to offer jack white a scholarship to make room for Bolden. smh
Don't ask me irrelevant questions about your douche bag program that I don't give a steaming dump about. I never said anything about you forcing him out.

Man y'all know Coach K is an idiot. He's a Pollock right? There ya go. Yeah he's a good coach, but he's also a straight laced, no BS looking fool. To put it simply. He's not a cool coach. Cal is. Who the hell would want to play for Coach K and not be able to do anything, when they can come to UK and be rock stars????? But for all you little Dook fan boys. Here's a joke about him being a Pollock.....Enjoy!!!

I once saw Coach K at a drug store, he was buying a box of C*****s. He went up
to the store clerk and the clerk said, "That'll be $3.99 plus tax." Coach K
replied, "Tacks! I didn't know you had to put these things on with tacks."

Wow, you guys are angry.

I'm sure if a freshman got a TON of playing time for Cal, played really badly, decided to transfer, and then his uncle started raving on twitter about Cal, you'd be PISSED at Cal. Like... super pissed.

[pfftt]

Every school doesn't work out for every kid. How'd that "Ryan Harrow" kid work out for Cal?
You're such an idiot. Harrow was handed the keys but burned.

These Dukies get awful sensitive when their "candidate for sainthood" coach catches a little flak. He over-recruited. It happens. Don't come on our board and tell us it ain't what it seems when their is evidence to the contrary. Until K or Thornton make a public statement, we can freely speculate to our hearts' content. Considering his backpedal routine following the Oregon drubbing, his credibility isn't exactly high.

Ha Ha. I love being the bad guys!!!!!!!! Duke's the innocent little, virgin, choir boys, with no personality and no tattoos (With an exception or 2)...... And we're the bad guys. HA HA....Yeah. We got players doing Lisa Ann. Coach K would have a heart attack if one of his guys went with a porn star. LOL I love it. I mean you guys are about to have your 2nd Mormon come in next year LOL.

And y'all Dook fans who don't know what I meant. It was Devin Booker. Look it up.

Just made my day a little brighter!

Don't know what this has to do with Bolden though. Was it scholarship?

Oh, and no reason Duke should be ranked ahead of us now, even WITH Bolden.. but I'm sure they will.

Maybe it was Thornton that wanted to transfer, why is everyone assuming he was forced out?

Because that is the Coach Krapinmypantski way, young Padawan. It is always funny to watch a young Dukie discover that Coach Klamidia is a jerk-wad...'but-but-but-BOBBY HURLEY'S DAD!!!'

Well I wasn't sure...If his dad is so worked up about PT, 15 minutes a game is better than sitting out a season...

also...if uk is on the short list...great...i'll take him...would be nice to have in practice...and then he could really be something the following season...

Thornton
Matthews
Gaberial
SKJ
Hump

with Tai in the mix and whom ever Cal gets between now and then...
Is that a starting lineup? If so, I'm not so sure Thornton would start, even as a junior, if UK lands Young.

Despite my distaste for Duke, I don't see how Thornton was forced out. The scholarships would have been fine, Bolden coming didn't matter. In actuality, Bolden probably would prefer (or at least been better suited) to play with a true PG, and not a SG looking to score.

Thornton probably wants to be the go to guy on a team. That or he had his faults with the team and/or Coach K.

For as despicable as Coach K is, I don't believe he ran him out of town. Duke needs a true guard, they could have grabbed a scholly from many other players.

@AMiller35 @DylanTheMan37 @GoodmanESPN K had Thornton reclassify last year and now recruits over him more the narrative IMO.

Yeah as much as I would like to dance on Duke's grave....Thorton wasn't forced out. K really did want him to stay because nobody wants to talk about it but Duke's defense has been abominable the last two years. They managed to bring their D up to an average level in the tournament last year but for the majority of that year and last year their defense has been really really bad. Thorton was the best defender on the team by a mile after Jefferson got hurt. AND he was the only PG on the roster for next year. Frank Jackson as of today is a SG. He has zero natural passing instincts or floor vision. He is a pure scoring guard. Not saying he can't improve this summer and during the Nike Summit they said he is going at the end of April to Duke early likely to work with the coaching staff on these very issues to try and improve. But I will be floored if Grayson Allen doesn't dominate the time with the ball is his hands next season.

I'm sure Duke will try to dismiss this as a problem player or a guy who was just unhappy, but it's gonna be hard to ignore these tweets.

Bottom line: they talked him into giving up his senior year to help Duke out, but now they're cutting him to sign Bolden. Not exactly a players first program.

Losing Thornton and gaining Bolden is a wash for Duke. Would suck that we don't get him, but this is a nice consolation prize.

In other news, Coach K isn't doing so great with the One and Dones, and is finding it not quite so easy to do what Cal does. If it wasn't for a gift-wrapped title, I'd be inclined to say Coach K has failed with the 1AD platform..

Harrows a pretty comparable situation imo.
I don't think so - I think it's more comparable to Kyle Wiltjer

we don't know what happened to make DT want to transfer - all we have is speculation: some good theories, some kinda stupid ones. Really, the only one who knows is Thornton.

That being said - it DOES look bad; the timing I mean. I know it was said somewhere on here that Thornton had been thinking about this for a while - but nothing had come out about it?
As I said, none of us knows what really happened - but how it's perceived could be damaging

LOL man he's trippin. We'll get 5-6 or maybe 7 All American 5 stars for 2017 and Humphries and Mathews will be on the bench, and Gabriel will be in the NBA. The only guy who may start from his lineup is SKJ. We'll have a lot of guys leave so it could be our biggest class. And LMAO thinking Thornton would start over Trae Young.

Harrow's father was very ill. He was in Lexington and his head and heart were with his father.......But don't let facts get in the way.......

This hurts the Devils a little. Puts a chink in an otherwise very strong armor.

The logical explanation for his transfer is that he knows he won't get much PT with Jackson coming in and Allen coming back.

If you think it's dirty for coaches to recruit over guys, then you should be upset at not only K but pretty much every coach in college ball.

It's part of the business.

Yeah, Kyle is pretty similar in that he came in, and then guys committed who were going to probably take a lot of minutes away. Thats the way it goes at the biggest programs, like UK and Duke. Cal, K... they are always going to recruit like crazy, and if a kid doesn't want to stay and compete, that's okay.

It might not look great (assuming that Bolden goes to Duke) but there were rumblings for months. Duke signed Jack White, who they easily could have avoided signing, and are keeping Sean Obi and Vrank, neither of whom are expected to really play. It isn't like most D1 teams are REALLY thin on scholarships.

Given that word has spread that K wanted Derryck to stay, and given that Duke doesn't have any natural PGs on the roster, it less likely that K chased him away like some big bad wolf, and more likely Derryck left on his own.

And given his uncle's rantings on twitter... well, seldomly do these sorts of public rants make the RANTER seem like the sane, sensible, adult one. Certainly doesn't in this case. What, K promised that he wouldn't recruit any more guards while Derryck was there? That he would play Derryck over better players? Doubtful.
