Had 3 guys drafter in the top 10. 2 of the first 3. Had a transcendent player in Zion and did not make a Final Four. Is the narrative that K can't coach? That is what is said about Cal. The basketball world should know it isn't easy to win it all with freshmen

I’m interested to see if Cam gets used against him like the platoon was against Cal. Kid was projected as top three or four but fell to tenth.

Why is this even a thread?
Why did you open it if you didn't like it you could have passed on by or you could make a smart *** remark. I would have passed on by, but that's just me. To answer your da question. I was trying to point out that Cal doesn't win it all with his talent he accumulates because the talent is so young, Did I type that slow enough?

He can coach but K is getting old. Coaching up a bunch of teenagers to win a title is a young man's game. You at least need to have youthful energy. Last season, for them, is what happens when you recruit young bucks, but just roll the ball out, and let them play

ESPN failed to mention ANYTHING about how good they did as a team. Walked into the work breakroom and right there: Duke is the first team since Florida to have three guys taken in the top10.

Florida won the title.

Cal suffers for being an innovator.

Cal embraces OAD and its evil and ruining the college game. He takes the heat and then other guys (especially K) finally realize you have to get the talent even if it is only for a little while and it becomes acceptable.

Cal gets top 5 players and fails to win the title every year, so his coaching skills are questioned. Then other guys start getting top 5 talent (namely K) and fails to win the title, and people start to realize it must not be the coaching, it's having young players with no veteran leadership that is the problem.

I guess Cal needs to wait until someone else does it, let them be criticized, and then try it after they have dealt with all the criticism.

In other words, be an imitator, not an innovator.

I mean, I understand your point but I also understood it the first 1346 times it was discussed on this board and in other national media.

After watching some of the draft last night, all I can say is THANK GOD DUKE DIDNT WIN IT ALL!

It was plenty enough nauseating listening to them talk about those three draft picks and the reverent way they say the word duke. Had they won I’m not sure I could watch anything pertaining to college basketball for a couple of years, would be too sickening to listen to that crap rhetoric.

I have watched the NBA draft for years and can't honestly recall them still showing everything the #1 pick was doing 3-4 hours into the show. I mean dear lord do they honestly think we want to watch him waddling up and down halls, laughing with reporters and bro hugging RJ. One thing I didn't notice was them showing Reddish hanging out with the other 2. Maybe he isn't part of the brotherhood?

I think the question is how can someone have 3 top 10 players and not make FF. Your point is taken and I never claimed he couldn't coach. I said it is hard to win with freshmen dominated teams.
I know. I was in a tongue in cheek frame of mind when I posted. As much as I don't like Duke, K would have an arena named after him had he coached here.

Very well said. I think it is Cal and not the fact he started it though. If K had started it then it would have been the smartest idea ever and Cal would have been blasted for "copying" K

But K has never been an innovator.

He has always copied what others were doing.

I really think K is a great coach. He is very intelligent. He's shrewd and knows how to work the system. He is just not very innovative. He really hasn't had to be.

I didn't see the other 1346 and I am on here daily

There's currently a thread on the first page with an extremely similar topic. If you go back pages, there's a thread on every page. A quick Google search has article after article about K's inability to succeed with OAD players.

Your argument isn't new, you haven't stated anything that hasn't been said. But that's why we're here, to talk.

Simple, they both can coach.

It is not easy to make Final Four or win a Title.

In general people are way too critical of Cal and K is a media darling for whatever reason. As UK fans, many are sensitive to this because of a deep rooted dislike of K.

This is the answer. Coach K’s best days are long behind him. He pretty much whiffed on his last chance to make a Final Four. I really don’t think he or his program will have much national impact in his last few years
