It would not shock me if Kuminga ended up at Duke. It’s what I have always expected.

Duke is going to be very talented, but also very young, again next season.

He's just going to ignore the fact his brother is at Texas Tech? Has Cunningham's recruitment not taught you anything?

I agree with this but it wouldn't shock me if he was at Uk neither . To be honest gun to my head I bet he ends up at neither . Bet he goes to a place he can be a big fish in a smaller pond.

But this thread cracks me up as Duke isn't talking about this and Brakefeild basically shot this down . I suspect a UNC ,NC st fan ect started this. But people love to talk about Duke around here so this will be at 7 pages soon .

Tech isnt allowed to pay the brother money in this instance. unless im mistaken , the brother isnt a staff member but a player... or a player manager right?

Kuminga and Cunningham situation are not alike . I’m not saying he won’t go to Texas Tech but his brother is player on the team he isn’t a coach on the team .

if you go listen to the podcasts from Travis and gang from the past week.. word is Kuminga's AAU guy is a former Duke player and they are trying to get Duke to recruit him again saying he's a Duke character kid. The thought is thats why Kuminga dropped LSU. I think that's the dead give away that he's gonna end up at duke. When the handler is dead set on a school.. he's gonna make it happen. The only way its not happening is if Duke declines and with LSU being out of the way .... I'm sure that was a demand of Duke's.

If you still want to bet me... how about a 5$ bet then. or we can do an avatar bet for a week.

Okay but...I get duke u on this one.;)

So like I said, its nothing like the Cunningham situation . Cunningham's brother is an assistant coach... meaning OSU can pay him 100K bonus (coughcough*secretlyforCade*coughcough) and its ok.... but Texas Tech cant do that with Kuminga's brother since he's just a player.
This is exactly what I said last week. Tech will overpay the under qualified brother with the understanding that Cade will get a big chunk of it.

Yeah but a big chunk of $100k is paltry compared to the ... what ? $30+ million Cade is going to get in a year and a half?

They're gonna get Kuminga, aren't they? They're gonna be even more loaded than we are next year. Hell Griffin will probably reclass as well. And, of course, it has to be in the same year we'll be loaded as well. It always seems to happen that way. Duke and UNC will return quite a few guys off this years teams to add to a loaded recruiting class. Striking out on Cunningham might cost us a title.

Rinse and repeat. We’ll have guys that shouldn’t go. They’ll have guys that should — and stay.

All this handwringing already about next year’s Duke team and all the players they will return. Someone please tell me the last player they developed over 2-4 years.

Terrance Clarke (who has committed to UK) is better than any player mentioned here. Hes the type special talent u build ur team around...had we not landed him then I'd be unhappy right now without class. Regardless of position he and Cade are the same size...and Clarke is wayyyyyyy more skilled. He will prove that this season and next season at UK

Could happen, but it’s a bit different with brothers who play and family members who get pied to bring their brother to a school.

Didn’t Wiggins have a brother who played elsewhere? $ometimes the big $chools just offer too much to turn down, you know.

The problem is, they have Jalen Johnson (a top 3 recruit). Probably gonna get Kuminga (the unanimous #1 recruit) And there's a good chance Griffin reclasses. They're still the leader for Patrick Baldwin, another top 3 recruit, who also may reclass. Clarke may be better than those guys, but if all this pans out for Duke, and we don't get Banchero to reclass or some other stud from 2021, they will have by far the more talented roster. We'll need a lot of guys to return to match their talent level and depth.

Cal will get his guys and let me guess if they get all those guys they’ll be able to beat an nba team and go 40-0 just to barely beat inferior opponents and blow it in the s16 or e8

This is not going to happen. No way would all those guys play on same roster and sacrifice minutes. Use common sense. I'm referring to the idea that Baldwin Jr/Griffin would reclassify in addition to Kuminga--who I believe would be a horrible fit alongside Jalen Johnson. Now Kuminga could happen for them, but if that does, why would Griffin/Baldwin want to reclass?

I love Clark, and he is as good as every player mentioned so far ......not named Kuminga.

Sounds you have thrown in the towel for next season. Your last few posts are based on what you think will happen in recruiting. I believe totally in playing the game to decide. If Duke gets Kuminga and Griffin in the 2020 class to go with Johnson their team is still not as good as the Barrett, Zion, Jones and Reddish class of a year ago. I think we are going to be fine.

I wouldn't worry about it yet.. Duke only has one impact player for next year, and that's Jalen Johnson, the rest are multi-year players that probably won't make much noise yet.

This isn't like the past 3-4 years where Duke has multiple top10 players.. sometimes multiple top5 guys.

You mean if they get three additional players all to reclassify despite playing the same position as the elite player they already have? Sure, they'll be good. They'll also be really good if Zion decides to come back and play for them or they're allowed to put 6 players on the court. None of that is going to happen.

Kuminga was never going to UNLV when his brother was there. This wouldn't be any different. This is a much larger battle then anything in terms of selecting a college. lol

I don't disagree about UNLV, but Texas Tech has the new hot named coach in college right now and his brother goes there, so the two are not comparable. Also, true that having a brother playing at a school is much different than having a brother/family member coaching at a University.

Agree with your take and I'd understand if he went there. Nike made sure to get him the hell away from Trinity Prep where he was enrolled which is an UA sponsored school as is Texas Tech. Kuminga would get tremendous development at Texas Tech with Beard and his Staff too. Just can't emphasize enough how brutal these shoe company battles are and nothing has changed. Nothing. The FBI thing was laughed at.
