Take a look at the "All Dems" percentage. It looks very close to the MAGA percentage for Republicans. And here's the scary part, many MAGA's are old and will eventually die away so the MAGA percentage will go down, especially when trump dies. While on the democrat side, the socialists percentage will grow as old democrats die and new democrats (under 35) are able to vote. The democratic party is being taken over by socialists and it's happening faster than you think.

I personally blame the current/old democratic leadership, they suck and have sucked for a long time now. There's only two outcomes for the democratic party, maintain the current bad leadership or be taken over by the DSA. It looks more and more like we need a third party that's in the middle and actually has a plan. If the third party can get over 50% of the Dems and over 50% of the Repubs, then it will have over 50% of the population. With that, then both the Dems and Repubs can be treated as fringe parties.

I suppose the silver lining (if there is one to the leftward lurch) is the most radical DSAers will grow disaffected when the DSA fail to achieve the more provocative outcomes they have pitched. The provocative policies are DOA anyway.

If it just ends up being progressive policies that get implemented I might quibble, but some of those might do some good too.

I hope you're right, but I thought some of trump's policies were DOA and yet here we are. As we've seen with republican voters, it's not good enough to prove the other side is evil, they'll still vote for evil. My gut is that we're going to see the same thing on the democrats side.

I wish progressives didn't use the scare word "socialist" so more people would take them seriously and look more closely at their actual policies, but here we are. The only thing that really bothers me is they aren't sharply separating themselves from the most extreme policies of the DSA because no matter what they advocate, if they aren't shouting down things like no borders, police or prisons, those will be the only things people will remember about them.

And unless DSA candidates start winning generals instead of primaries, there's no reason for alarm yet because they would need power to enact those extreme policies, so my hope is they separate themselves from the extremists before we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I still don't know why "progressive" isn't a good enough term because there doesn't seem to be much daylight between progressives and democratic socialists, but maybe I don't know enough.

All I know is the people are pissed that their priorities are being ignored and only one side is addressing their needs, hence why their numbers are growing. This could be a good thing if they play their cards right.

There is concerns because if the DSA candidates win general elections, then we get socialism. If the DSA candidates lose, then we get MAGA. The DSA wanting to eliminate the senate and basically changing the foundation of our government, that's a show stopper. They're choosing to call themselves DSA because there is a different between DSA and progressives. Remember when people used to say to MAGA's, "when trump tells you who he is, you should believe him". That same thing applies now to the DSA. When they tell you who they are, you really should believe them. They're socialists and want to change our democracy. Believe them, they're not hiding it.
