It's inevitable to get crazy post on a message board. Anonymity brings out the worst of people.
It's a terrible look to bash your squad right after a loss when emotions are high and there is not as much filtering. But I think out of most large fan bases, we are pretty in control. Often times most of us think we have the new wrinkle or idea that gonna make us win number 9, but it'd very rare to see anyone attack players which happens more then it ever should on other boards.

People have passion and they love Kentucky basketball and will defend them to the end, however after a home loss to a rival and with alcohol involved the passion can turn on each other. Right or wrong they are going to vent and say things maybe they shouldn't say but eventually they will go on to bed. It's kind of funny to read some of the posts the next day but most of the time I try to be fair in what I say, even though I was really frustrated last night I didn't say too much. There is an old saying in Kentucky that there is only three things that matter, Christianity, coal mining and Kentucky basketball. So I guess it's alright for us to argue with each other, outsiders not so much.

There were a lot of inexcusable posts made after our loss last night. A UK loss and alcohol are obviously not a good combination. Maybe we need to implement a breathalyser before posting policy on here.
I like it! Install a breathalyzer on each device and post the BAC under "likes received". Might even make a contest out of it.

Just clean the board up yourself , I don't see the point in discussing anything with someone who doesn't have the ability to be rational . There's a good number of posters I don't see anymore .

Nothing has changed other than our ability to disseminate information in real time on a global scale.

What was once the bastion of the coffee shop moved to the call-in show to now the internet.

That's a good point, but with a distinction. The anonymity of the internet emboldens people. You could get punched out at the barber shop or at least have some sense shamed into you.

Big difference. When a lunatic posts something every other lunatic in the world can read it. Then you get an effect rather a bunch of dogs when a fire truck passes by. Dogs love to howl and bark at each other.

The coffee shop was only so big. The Internet is bigger and the dogs can type.

There was more than one coffee shop or corner store.

I find fault in the thinking that this is some new development. The internet just simply amplifies the voices. The voices have always been there and always will be.

I saw a thread started last night by a poster with a total of 13 posts who said that he wasn't going to defend this team anymore. I just shook my head.

I wanted to ask him when has he ever defended this team in any of his previous 12 posts. But, I just chose to ignore him. He won't be back when we win again.

I haven't counted my ignore list but it has to be one of if not the biggest on the board and it's a far better board than it used to be . I like talking to people who can think after a loss instead of emotional tantrums void of reason .

Starting to sound like the hateful and embarrassing posts toward the Harrison twins and Cal at that time. Of course they went on to lead us to two Final Fours.

There is no fault, just a failure to understand that everyone can read this.

How many fans of opposing teams, coaches, recruits and their families heard the dogs howling in the seed and feed?

The dogs have always been there. The yipping carries much further.

It's why I tend to stay away after losses. Some people go way too far in the personal attacks on players, coaches and other fans all over losing a basketball game. It's kind of juvenile.

However, we're riding a losing streak now. The attitude here will be extremely negative until the Cats win again.

This also allowed most people to sleep on the outcome of a game before they started discussing it. It gave some a chance to sober up. It gave other time to suffer their gambling losses......not they are lamenting on their computers during the game.
