The culture wars waged by the right are pretty evident. The cancelling of anything arbitrarily deemed 'woke' is a glaring example.

I'd say that whatever cancelling the Right does is in response to the Left. The Right does some cancelling now, to the limited extent they can since they control so few institutions, but over recent years all the cancelling was coming from the Left. The Right started cancelling to the extent they could in response because the alternative was to sit there and do nothing while the Left kept cancelling.

Twenty or even ten years ago cancelling was not even remotely a thing. It's all recent and it was all initiated by the Left.

That is my issue. Nobody appears to have the term "woke" nailed down. If it means teaching history unvarnished, sign me up. Even if it means being aware how race has shaped our civic history, no problem from me.

Some of the nonsense, sure, I am against. But handing control of defining woke to a guy like Desantis is very unappealing to me.

‘Woke’ is an active (not passive) movement to change others (both beliefs and actions). The ‘movement’ validates manipulating truths and restructuring history (and often…but def not always..redefining the term ‘victim’)


The great Martin Luther King wanted to motivate people to change themselves…while Malcolm X wanted to force change by ‘any means possible’. I’ve clarified the one I respect.

The ‘woke movement’ is DESIGNED to insight anger and division (by action and words)…while (unrealistically, without a true basis) empowering the minority (and that’s not a ref to race…which I have to say…because otherwise I get the racist tag).

It is selectively applied. They highlight whatever causes they want to make a big deal out of while ignoring ones that don't serve their purpose.

0There are lots of examples of this but an obvious one that jumps out at me is the NBA highlighting all these causes they want to be highlighted and then when one NBA front office person makes one tweet supporting people in Hong Kong, who are being oppressed by a totalitarian government, the entire NBA apologizes and grovels to China because their bottom line might get hurt otherwise.
