Sadly, for that team, I do. Rapinoe ruined them. Fitting that she was a big reason for the loss.
One player on the current team kneeled like 8 years ago to support Colin Kaepernick and the far right Christofascists are rooting against an entire team that is representing their country because she triggered them so heavily.

They rejected us, and did not want to represent us. She just wants to use us to play soccer. I’d rather have a lower talent player who loves her country carrying our honor with pride than a team that has talent but would rather burn the flag and it’s people than respect them.

Even if they were, who cares. Just standing there quietly has never been viewed as disrespectful until like a month ago when the Christofascists suddenly decided it was.
And I do agree that the pay thing is also ridiculous. Fewer viewers worldwide means fewer dollars in payments. It is what it is. I don't blame them for trying to get more money, though.
Former players called this team publicly and basically said there was no leadership on this team. I’ll never pull against the USA but their cries for equality and everything else they bitched about (besides focusing on winning) made them hard to route for.
I thought they were terribly coached and very poorly focused. Vlatko needs fired ASAP. The worst womens' team since I've been alive. Too many old players and too many young players. Kind of like the 2018 cycle USMNT. Once the current younger group gets more experience, they'll be back and angry. But Rapinoe and Co. It's time to retire. You had your time, you won your cups. Let the youngins take the reigns.
It would never occur to me to pull against a USA team. Especially when it is over a constitutional rights to speek freely and protest.

I feel the same for the most part...I did see some of them seemingly having some love for this country, so while I am not happy they failed...for those of the Rapinoe ilk(haters of this country despite so much privilege's most can only dream of) I cannot say I am very saddened.

If they represented America, I would probably root for them, but they don't. They represent the minority of America's haters.
While I am not happy as in another post stated, the team as a whole seemed a lot less enthusiastic than many others when their anthems were played. Not all, but it is not all about the kneeling. It is about the disdain that many on that team seems to have for this country and the opportunity to play a game for money. A lot of the other countries do not have the luxury of playing year round and workout with little to no outside jobs. They work 40+ hours then try to get ready for these competitions. Is the USA perfect, no, but it isn't shabby compared to all the others. Anyway, I feel many at the WVU games do not really get it either. I understand views change more generationally, but some of us still see the great in this country despite the flaws and are so very thankful for this country and those that fought to keep us free...some fights may not have been as necessary as others, but the ones who fought through 1950 at a minimum was for the greater good of this country or the world. So you can be sad we lost, I can be somewhere in between and others can be happy to see it the other way...it is the USA.

First of all, I don't think that is true. Other countries have had their athletes be critical of their home countries and governments.
I am just not a fan of cancel culture. And it comes from both sides... Nothing Rappone or a few others said or did would lead me to cheer against team USA. However misguided they may be.
I'm cheering against them, not America. They shouldn't be allowed to play on America's team, so those who allow it are just as guilty.

The culture wars waged by the right are pretty evident. The cancelling of anything arbitrarily deemed 'woke' is a glaring example.
