Does every 17n thread have to turn into a pissing match?

The last 6 mos or so it seems worse than I’ve seen it here. A lot of this recent pantywaste would have been ridiculed off the board 10 years ago.
The coaching search was rough with all the people freaking out over every rumor and the sky is falling mental approach. 247 still hasn’t recovered.
It has become hard to have a debate about anything in general, not just on this board. People blow up and become so entrenched you can't have fun with any debate. Also everyone is offended. Also everyone is outraged. There you go.

Twitter, and message boards in general have given a voice to everyone who is unhappy. It gives them a chance to instantly feel better about themselves when they can correct or belittle someone else. I personally hate it....but still try to post when I see something interesting MSU...and just try to grow my skin a little thicker 
When you have a group that makes decisions and forms opinions based on emotion rather than facts you're going to have clashes. There is an influx of overly emotional idiots on here currently

Patient Zero for the epidemic on here over the last few years. What was once just a lot of disagreeing and arguing has gone to become a shitshow of childish insults, racists and sexist comments(and deleted threads as a result), and made up 'facts'.

Agreed. Problem is, the goalposts for who is part of that group is constantly moving and depends on who agrees with you or not.
That’s just the nature of the beast now. Social media has created the phenomenon of echo chambers with people so dug in on their beliefs that nothing will change their mind.
It's true. The other message Boards are worse. I stalked on this Board for a number of years before I signed up to comment. This Board can be quite edifying and cathartic after a tough loss.
I love everyone that wears the Maroon and White, even if they are stupid or just say and post stupid ****. Hell, I even loved Stingray wrapped in Maroon and White. Can't say I'm at all grieved over his absence.

The only problem I have had is with the about 3 people that seem to think they are true insiders and anyone that doesn't agree with them is a troll from GP and couldnt actually be a MSU fan.
I don't think social media created the phenomenon. It just gave a place for idiots to be heard. I think most guys only have to deal with a few morons that can't help but tell you their opinion about whatever. Maybe a person or maybe two you're stuck listening to because of work, one or two b/c of family relations, maybe one that is in your social circle but you can't figure out who keeps inviting them (or maybe they get invited because their wife is friends with the other wives), etc, and mostly you don't have to deal with them that much. On social media, all of those people are very vocal and you can't really screen them out of things like a message board.
I don't think anything has changed for women as they will seemingly remain "friends" with people they hate for their entire life.
Kinda reminds one of the church committee meetings on what was done or what needs to be done.....
