You mean winning at all costs, right?

Everyone has a line they draw that will prevent them from supporting a coach. With some it is going bat **** crazy and wetting pants on notional TV. For some other is it child molestation.

But for you, we really aren't sure where that line is are we?

Sweet.
that is very disingenuous of you to compare Bo's antics to child molestation. wtf man

JoPa =/= Jerry Sandusky

doesn't mean I like the guy
JoPa was told about Jerry Sandusky. He freakin let it go or didn't push stopping it. Not sure how it matters at that point. Maybe he didn't actively participate, but he is guilty enough to me.

I miss Bo when he was with Frank Solich. I wish they would have had a couple more years to see what they could do amd he could get more guidance from a seasoned coach (not HC but he had been a coach for decades)

This thread is a perfect example of how a loser mentality has set in for a good number of Nebraska fans. Bo won 9 games a season and people in here hate him. Scott Frost rarely ever wins a game and he has a cult following by a small minority of fans.

Did you support TO when he hid a gun from the cops?

I said if I was a PSU fan, I would still be a JoPa fan. I think that is how most PSU fans feel. You hate when he did/did not do but you love him as a coach.

I am not a PSU fan so I really don't care.

I actually liked Bo Pelini quite a bit. the feeling of hopefulness from 2008-2011 was very real, I genuinely believed we were on a path to start another dynasty. I wasn't bothered by the outbursts, most people who have played football past middle school shouldn't be. the media had an unfair target on him trying to paint him like a villain when he was just a throwback coach, and one who for a number of years had his players ready to run through a brick wall for him.

but then something happened in that Big 10 CCG against Wisconsin that just opened the flood-gates, and it was like a cancer had begun to spread where we would be a completely different team against good competition. got our **** pushed in by UCLA, a year where we had an insanely easy schedule compared to Frosts last few years. Minnesota became unbeatable, Wisconsin set records on us. Frustratingly, we would absolutely dominate lower competition the way the Alabama's and Ohio States do. it felt like the psychology of the team had been fractured and accustomed to just phoning it in against good competition.

who knows, sometimes I wonder if he needed a few years of mediocrity to right the ship, much like Ferentz has been allowed at Iowa. seeing his recent performance quells that notion to an extent.

But I am one of those weird Husker fans that is less into being prison-raped by Wisconsin, no matter if we get a squeaker win against McNeese State.
I get that, I do. But here is the thing. To get to 11 or 12, you have to get to 9 and 10.

This is the tactics that Anti-Bo guys have use.

Fights in the basements
coke parties
******* all the wives
Comparing them to JoPa
Calling him a lunatic
Claiming he was kicked out of a kids basketball game

It is okay, we know how it goes. We already saw it with Frost this season.

Secret apt's where they ****
His wife leaving him and leaving the state

we have a broader sense of reality that extends to knowing we're not going to get somebody who is immediately better as a coach in the Big 10 unless his first name is Hugh and his last name is Freeze.

doesn't mean we're satisfied with his current performance

we're a broken computer that hasn't been turned on in a decade, and instead of letting it boot up all the way, y'all wanna unplug it and plug it back in with a fancy new monitor every 4 minutes. each reset gets us further and further away from stability.

Crazy to think if he wins 1 more game a season, no one cares about him getting pissed.
the people who legitimately cared about him getting pissed are the same people who whine about people standing up at football games and complain about the grits at Denny's being too spicy.

Plus just look at his record at NU. Clearly he was doing something right.
His demeanor was a stain on the program and state he was a National embarrassment at the end of his tenure he couldn’t recruit and didn’t and his next gig was no D1 school it was Youngstown st and when he ran out of kids that were Nebraska recruits he sucked he sucked at LSU as d coordinator the second time my suggestion is stop following Nebraska and follow bo

I can't wait until all the questioning whether or not firing this or that coach was or was not a good thing stops.

I can't wait until all the questioning whether or not Nebraska is a blue blood stops popping up.

Neither of these questions matter and only get fans to hating on one another.

Blueblood titles never won the next game and all our coaches since Osborne haven't won a damn thing. The only two since that have had a decent go at their careers are Solich and Callahan and both haven't won enough for us to be lamenting.

I think many people here forget that Pelini won 10 games 3 times. And 9 games 4 times in his 7 years at Nebraska. 9.43 games/season.

I was livid when Eichorst fired him. Not because I liked Pelini as a person, but I knew we ran the risk of really sucking now, unless we hit a homerun.

Then I remember learning Nebraska hired Mike Riley. Mike f*cking Riley. From Oregon State. A proven perennial loser (at coaching football). I want Nebraska to win as much as any die-hard here or in our fanbase, but that was the day I knew we would reap the fruits for the seeds we have sown.

We deserve every bit of this. Not as a fanbase, but anyone involved in the inner-workings of firing Pelini - only to replace him with Mike Riley - should feel bad. Very bad. And dumb. Very dumb.

It is this kind of mentality that makes husker fans look stooooopid.

There is no evidence that his time at NU, if extended, would have been bad in terms of wins and losses.

I suggest you just rewatch NU games from the 90's, that is where you are stuck at.

I love how Bo haters complain that he got so mad but most of the Bo haters are the ones that post angry **** all the time.

Yep!

If you are firing Bo for his "demeanor" you better darn well have a coach that can/does win lined up.

I think a lot of the Bo-haters are not mad at Bo, they are mad that they used to say "anyone can win 9 games at NU, 9 wins are built into the schedule, a monkey could win 9 games at NU"...

I try on not post any about him I was all in Tom hiring him but as years passed and he ran out of callihan recruits he became stagnant he was also looking to leave he looked at the Miami job and was practically begging Ohio st to hire him, he wanted out. I’m glad he’s gone now the debacle that eichorst did was worse than steve petersen, eichorst had no business being a D1 AD, yes bo needed to go but another botched hiring of a head coach at Nebraska

It was almost like Eichorst literally had zero idea what AD's do.

Remember when he was like "Hopefully you never see me or hear from me, that means I am doing my job"

Damn
Eichorst fired him. I'm still convinced (sorta) Eichorst (formerly an assistant AD at Wisconsin) came in hoping to screw Nebraska.

Look at it: Eichorst hires a guy who failed at Oregon State. Oregon State hires Wisconsin guy to replace guy who failed (for many years, mind you) at Oregon State. I'm only semi-serious in that conspiracy theory.

The fact that he fired a coach who averaged 9.5 wins/season is ridiculous. No matter how bad he was at being a crowd-pleaser. Especially so, seeing as where we're at now.
Damn straight sir! I'll take 9 or 10 wins over 4 or 5 wins ANY TIME.

Lol.

I'd like Nebraska to get back to winning something.

Why you feel the need to service Bo Pelini all the time is strange.

He had his chance here. He won nothing of substance. He's worn out his welcome / has been fired at other stops since his time ended here and is currently unemployed. Either he lost whatever got him the gig at Nebraska or the game has passed him by. His next stop will likely be a linebackers coach in the NFL. Let him go. It's OK to turn the page.

Frost sucking over the last 4 seasons does not in any way lessen Pelini's sucking.
Last I checked he is making $2.6 million NOT to coach.

Any person who even has any knowledge of going ons in football KNOW that Bo turned down plenty of Jobs since he left Nebraska...including coordinator jobs in the NFL.

2ND anyone that has a little insight into Nebraska football KNOWS that Bo had a contract on his desk at least 2 times to go and coach OTHER teams WHILE he coached at Neb....and turned them down.

Now it's people on here that should know these FACTS.
I mean, I just sort of miss winnint 9 and 10 games and being in conference championship games.

But I am one of those weird Husker fans that is more into wins than if I like the coach or not.

You aren't WEIRD.....you just part of a dying breed on this website. Most of the ones who post now are coach critics who get in their feelings. They want a coach who is nice to the media, kisses babies, combs his hair a certain ways, played for the school. They want a coach who they can get to know and watch his kids grow and know their names.

They like feel good stories, the struggles, the pains, ra ra ********, participation trophies and THE LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD! That's the vocal MINORITY of the fan base on this website....NOT IN REAL LIFE!

Husker fans I know are tired of this ****. It's showing in the stands now so they can't hide it. Now you they giving away tickets and got buy one get one free bs! So no matter how many Kool aid drinkers you have on here....the real Husker fans gone lead the way. Not Frost, not Trev.....the FANS!

I mean I’d take 9-4 or 10-4 any day compared to the crap show that’s been going on since his departure. Sometimes I wonder what Bo could have done with those 2015 or 2016 teams, I think those would have been 10-11 win teams with him as HC. Maybe we’re not only cursed by Solich, but by Pelini too. We also haven’t beaten Iowa since he was fired.

Anyway, I still find it puzzling why some people still hate his guts especially with the results we have had since his firing. Some will say “well with Frost at least we ain’t getting blown out”. Well that’s fine I guess if your content with living off of moral victories.

Serious question, how long do you think Bo would have been here had he not been fired?

Literally he was challenging his boss to fire him the year before.

Everything else aside, he wasn't happy here and was going to leave as soon as he had a good opportunity in front of him.

Fair question..

This is how I FEEL....my opinion as well as some facts. I think Bo would have stayed here long as WE WANTED him here. For the moat part it really didn't turn til his last couple years as you said. That's when THE MEDIA, as someone said earlier, started digging in on Bo.

Then Eichorst came and wouldn't talk to Bo. Remember his famous " I talk about my coaches at the end of the season" mantra in 2013?? He was hired to fire Bo and let him twist innthe wind that year. When Bo was trying to reach out he got the cold shoulder.

Then the media started asking Bo did he feel feel he would be fired by Eichorst basically every week. That's when Bo finally snapped and said "if they wanna fire me then fire me". I can't fault any man for how he feels when he has no support.

Frost has support, but I can tell you if Moos, Trev started distancing and the media started asking him bout his future he would snap. Hell he already bout to snap for losing so much. He is stressed to death without the extra bs Pelini went thru

I can get behind almost everything you said. I'd even venture to say most if not all of it is true. My only question or push back would be did he really suck?

I don't agree that he sucked. In fact I'd go you one better. IF you truly felt like Bo sucked then we are more than likely relegated to simply sucking. 9/10 wins a year isnt sucking. With a BIG schedule under no circumstances would I consider that sucking. Even with the blowouts.

Again I'm not Pro Bo or even what most would call a Bo guy. But if his resume at Nebraska is considered sucking good luck finding someone who doesn't suck. By his resume their was only maybe 4-5 other coaches in the country who DIDNT suck.

Pelini sucks. You can say Riley til your blue in the face, but Bo Pelini sucks. It was the right thing to fire him for a lot of reasons. Just because they didn't find the right guy doesn't make Pelini's termination a mistake.

Bo Pelini, missed he is. Correct he was saying, good luck winning without me. PEDs the reason, huskers won titles in the 90s. Many obstacles Bo faced. Very similar to trump it is. Never go a chance, from half of the fan base, like trump never got from his naysayers. Many Debras, Bo faced. Scared they were, of alpha males. Bo, alpha Male he was. Out of fear, nothing good comes. State of our country, bigger example it is. Miss Bo, I do. Many others, do, but admit it, they will not. No difference does it make. Losers we are now, and for a long time we will be, until a true outsider comes along to take over, and all those who interfere with the program(donors, insiders, media, selfproclaimed important higher ups), go away.

I forgot about all the monkey talk. We're still monkeyless. And "imagine what Riley could do with all the resources at Nebraska." Apparently it wasn't much.

Point is, and like it or not, Pelini had us the closest to what we expect out of Nebraska football. That doesn't mean we're stoked about getting our doors blown off here and there, but it's a fact. Pelini is the best coach we've had out of the last 4. Perhaps even 5 if you want to count Solich in the mix.

I don't blame Eichorst, he just did what he was told....just like Pederson did. I blame "Chancellor" PERLMAN. He is the one behind the Solich and Pelini debacle.

That bastard was a egghead who was jealous that the football team got all the attention and not research and education.

I wanted Frost just like almost everybody else did. For some reason he just couldn't get it to work out.
