So here is the poll...
Before the season I posted something like this (not a poll, just a general question). not one poster said they wanted him gone.
Everyone that posted in response said that nobody wants him gone, it’s just criticism.
11 games into season a thread is started saying he should move on and that post has about 30 likes.
So, what gives?
Finally a poster has the balls to say it, and suddenly there are many who want him gone.

Nope, just want to see some tweaks that the normal average fan can relate to. Adjustments. A few more set offenses rather than asking freshmen to "create" their own. Less AAU and more Division I college basketball. Less NBA draft talk (I'm fine if we have kids leave that should leave, but let it happen in the background and be humble about it).

I would agree with the gist of this as well. I also don’t particularly like the NBA talk, but I understand it’s part of his recruiting pitch and I think he feels it’s necessary to emphasize in order to get those Uber elite five star kids.

So, I guess I can live with the NBA talk as long as we recruit and perform similar to the first 5-6 years. But, if you can’t get those Uber elite guys, the NBA talk doesn’t fly as easily. I get that.

No....just 'tweak' (his word) a few things:

--Swallow his pride and hire an 'offensive coordinator' (doubtful)

--Place as much emphasis on basketball skills as he does athleticism when recruiting

--Put in an actual in-bounds play :D

These are all valid as well. Be willing to play zone at times if personnel dictates. He is a stubborn guy in some ways. Even Coach K has no qualms playing zone with the young kids if needed. Not sure why Cal has such an aversion to it. The OOB plays drives me just as well. Even on full court press he won’t stagger the guards and have them pick and roll to the ball. He just has them run to try and get position.

But having said all of that, I still love Cal. He is a perfect fit for UK and I believe he will right the ship. I still strongly remember the BCG and even the latter Tubby years. I think Cal has been to an extent a product of his own initial success. No one could’ve expected the run he had the first five years. The last five have certainly been a downward trajectory, but in all fairness, there was really no other way to go. Those first years were unmatched by any other coach.

He will get it corrected. If anything else, his ego and competitor nature will insure that IMO. At least that’s my hope. Honestly, anyone calling for Cal to leave has no legit option for a replacement that is even in the same stratosphere as Cal. That’s the truth.

Tweaks only. I believe that an Extra year of ball at UK is better than the NBA D League to improve continuity. Also have to admit that the money that BBall is bringing into the school has been put to good use. The new dorms, new science building and other facilities are great for the university. While football is emerging under Stoops, UKS contribution to the SEC through BBAll and Cal has brought in a lot to the University. The SEC Network loves Cal. Sports money may stay with sports but is still part of UKs financial picture. UK has done a ton to upgrade many aspects of the school. Now Cal's salary and down side of big time sports, there is that but still more positives than negatives. Beating Louisville will be nice.

Agree!! Make some tweaks to the offensive side of the ball. Maybe make a staff change or two to address that. I can live with the NBA talk to a degree but NBA draft nights are NOT the greatest days in UK b-ball history.

No.

Make some damn changes, hire an offense coordinator. Stop making the same mistakes.

He said he would never recruit a kid who can't shoot again. but here we are with a team full of guys who can't shoot.

Run a damn offense. Weaving till someone gets a lane isn't a good offense. Athleticism alone isn't going to win you games anymore.

Dude is just extremely stubborn, and that's lost us games. There's been many games in Cal's tenure that could gave ended differently if he would have just swallowed his pride and called a timeout or ran a damn zone. Something, anything differently.

Voted no, but I’m annoyed with him.

1. Half court offense is atrocious, tweak it.
2. Recruit the best pure shooters in every class please.
3. Stop saying the same things after every season and games. The excuses he uses are his fault.

At this point, I don’t want him gone. BUT, I don’t think the UK basketball program would fall apart without him like some folks think it would.

No, this is dumb...But, I do think he needs to shakeup the assistants. Keep KP and dump the rest, bring in a hot shot recruiter and an offensive guru. Cal is almost loyal to a fault with his assistants.

Is the same movie every year. Probably mid January towards the end of January this team will be totally different. Happens every single year.

Are there 3 other coaches we could feasibly get right now? Who would you pursue and why?

Out of 72 votes so far, 66 say no they don’t want Cal gone.

You’d have thought by some of the posts this week every one of us who have voiced concerns wanted him gone by the responses we got here.

Usually no one will say I want him gone. Other than the typical 3 or 4 posters.
This post has had a lot of (likes) backers. I always suspected there were a lot more posters hidden behind “i just want him better”

I guess we’ll see, usually I’m pretty optimistic teams will pull it together. But, very hard to win with zero inside game and I don’t believe in Nick or EJ. This reminds me of the Ulis/Murray year. Those two guards were way ahead of Hagans/Maxey/Quickley and didn’t make it out of the first weekend.

He could lose six games in a row and I still would want him as my coach. He just finds a way to get it done. Already stacked for next year with skilled players that can create baskets off the dribble.

It started with something about Cal caring more about putting players in NBA and Cal needs to be replaced.

Yeah, that isn't very specific.

Can't find it.

I could have thread starter on ignore.

4 votes yes so far. Own up to it. I’d like to see who voted yes.
I made the votes private so posters may actually vote what they want without repercussion...
Full disclosure I voted yes... just to get the ball rolling. But, I changed to NO.
Every coach can be better... but, I don’t think there’s anyone else that could do BETTER at this time.
However, once the nba changes in a couple of years...we may need a change also.

Fill the roster.

No reason a program like Kentucky shouldn't have enough players to practice.
I am ambivalent about that. If we had 3 more 3 stars on scholarship we would have 1 open spot to fill and what if only Hagans and another guy goes pro, 3 scholarships. 3 guys are going to have to be Creaned
