Yes and no. I can't forget how great his run was here his first 6 years. It was incredible. So many incredible moments and players.

But he hasn't adapted to the way things have changed. And this year was more stubbornness then anything. His love affair with Boston and Askew. His questionable handling of Allen. His crap substitution patterns.

I don't like this Cal. He treated Allen wrongly all year. Anything was better then Boston and Askew. Took him that damn long to put Mintz at point?

Put Kentucky thru two terrible years and I no longer love Calipari. The shine has wore off and his antics are old now.

Win next year or Get out. Should apologize to all of BBN for this disgrace of a season.
I’ll go on record to say he will not win much next year. Will we make the tournament? Sure. Will we have an impressive team that earns a high seed? No.

And I promise you the same dudes who support and slurp him now will still be singing his praises, referencing 2009-2015 and saying “we’ve improved!”

There are many reasons this season to be distasteful of John Calipari but you can’t argue with the facts and the John Calipari defense regime literally glosses over and refuses to accept actual facts. They idolize and support him for different reasons which is more pitiful in some ways.

Again, I’m sure they are okay enough guys but they’re very NPC like. Many are these days unfortunately. Some don’t know any better.

I support him. I'm not going to be devastated if he left like I would've been 5 years ago, but I still don't want him to leave. One or two dicey hires and we're all of a sudden Indiana.

Then again, politics mean less to me than most people on here apparently. He could hire the MyPillow loon as an assistant, say the election was stolen like other psychopaths and I wouldn't care. Or he could do the opposite end of the spectrum, whatever that is. Announce he's transitioning to a woman during the offseason. Doesn't matter to me.

I don't care about none of that ****. Just win games and another title. Period.

I want Cal as our coach, he will turn this around. I understand the slump and every reason behind it. This season has taught me that you never know what’s going on in practices. You don’t know who’s doing what, and how they are playing. Quit making assumptions and blaming Cal for everything. This team might have quit on him but I know Minks and Jackson bought in and became better players. Even Toppin showed upside and got better. Everyone posting about how Cal can’t put a team together? You all were posting before the season hyping this team up.
Cal, himself, was talking in press conferences hyping this team up. Was lobbying for the NCAA to have a season, because he had a REALLY GOOD TEAM. He said that multiple different times. Don’t put all that BS on the fans. Cal, is that you?!

He also said just yesterday that he was proud of the team because they never quit, they never gave up. Again, his words, not mine. Keep drinking that Cal Kool Aid, though.

We know he can coach, he just needs to get off his high horse and get back to scratching and clawing to be the best coach.

The results are interesting so far. Only 48% say yes.

I imagine if I did this poll even just a year ago it wouldve been 80+ percent saying yes.

Dont think it can be denied that he has lost a relatively good chunk of the fan base.

I’m not sure it would’ve been that high. My “Cal is Trending Down” thread from last year that was inexplicably closed after tons of pages, indicated that more than 20% of the fan base saw the writing on the wall.

Also, speaking to this poll, I believe a handful of the yes votes are duplicates. Cal’s dingleberries have multiple handles.

When the inmates run the asylum, it’s time for a change. He’s got a huge heart and he really does want to transform the lives of these kids. But this isn’t a social service. If that’s what he wants to do, turn in the keys and go work at Social Services. One and done isn’t the only way to change the lives of these guys. Three or four years of college wouldn’t be a bad thing.

EXCELLENT POST!

Obviously don’t like the record this year but what I cannot get over his oft repeated statement that this is a players first program. No Cal, you work for the University of Kentucky and while it is nice to see former players succeed in the NBA, your job is to coach the players on the roster to be the best team in a given year. What about extolling the virtues of staying 4 years, enjoying some of the best times in your life, and earning a degree. Not many talk about the players that leave and never sniff the NBA so at 21 or so years old they face the harsh realities of life. This is not entirely Cal’s fault as many 18-19 year olds make decisions contrary to the advice given them but he has created this culture! So a long-winded explanation as to why I want him gone. He wants to end generational poverty - go coach in the G league.

You’re one of the biggest babies on this board. Like I said, we need to get you a pacifier and a bouncy seat. Maybe then you won’t be so cranky. ******* cry baby.

About a notch or two below average coaching skills. Isn’t landing the best talent anymore, recruits are realizing they can go to anywhere & be a lottery pick or g league.
Cal needs top tier talent to do well & that’s got him 1 title here now just think with out it.

I think his time has come and gone. He has managed to divide the fan base to the lowest point in my memory. Tubby and Billy Clyde never managed to turn the fans off like Calipari has.

Plus I detest his style of basketball. There is no way he is going to change that so I say let him go.

This is a PERFECTLY apt observation. Particularly the part about "... a notch or two below average coaching skills." He had the greatest assembly of talent ever gathered on one college basketball team, in 2014-15, and his below-average coaching skills finally got even that team beat in the FF semis by Wisconsin. Q.E.D.

That team was #1 in the country and the bench alone was a top 10 team in the country.

First off, it’s “you’re”. I’m not “following” you, moron. I don’t follow anyone on here. I just see the dumb **** you post. Then, I call you on it. Pretty simple concept.

My swinger wife?! LOL Furthest thing from a swinger, but okay. You really need to stop bringing my wife into these conversations. You and your cry baby, millennial mindset.

Like I said, I get it. You’re a Cal nut hugger because that’s all you know. You’re not a Kentucky fan, you’re a Cal fan. There’s many just like you.

Well you did go the poll on a “fan” board after a terrible season. And yes still won. Not the results you thought you would get. So spin it anyway you can to fit your agenda.

With all of the Fire Cal posts during this entire season and the nonstop drivel from so called fans on this board, I would think the No votes would be higher. I voted Yes and will again next week when another hopeful Fire Cal poll pops up. With a general public poll the differences would be much greater.

I do too and understand the frustration. I think Cal needs to change and build us a team. He very well may never do so but I also still trust he can give us a better shot than most of these coaches. Can’t help but respect him for bringing us back and memories of teams he put together that I loved. I remember the hopelessness of wondering if we will ever find a coach that could turn it all around. He did it then and I believe he can do it again for some reason.

Im indifferent on Cal, he has some things I don’t approve of for sure but I’m willing to give him a chance. Having said that, I am a UK program supporter not a Cal supporter. If he benefits the program great, if he doesn’t then time to go.

If Cal truely wants to change kids lives why isn’t he helping the 3 and 4 year players that probably won’t ever sniff the NBA without his help. Most of the OAD will make it to the league regardless. They may go higher in the lottery with his help but they will probably still make it. Cal is missing a great opportunity to help kids that would never make without his help by flushing the 3 and 4 year players, IMO.

For me personally, If I truly thought Cal would change, and I mean real changes, then I would be all for Cal staying. If he became the motivated, hungry Cal that came to Lexington 12 years ago. Imo, that Cal is a monster nobody wants to face.

If he would stop pimping for the NBA and start soley being about UK. I just don't see that ever happening. He thinks his purpose is social agendas now.

I hope I am wrong because Cal fit UK like no one since Rupp at first. he's here until he doesn't wanna be. So all I can hope for is him changing. My hope is very low.

Nothing is going to change until Calipari aligns his objectives with the University of Kentucky's objectives and I don't see that happening. All you have to do is read De'arron Fox's interview in January 2021:

“Cal couldn’t give a damn about winning college basketball games. If he’s getting guys who he knows he can end up developing into NBA players, you’re automatically going to win 30 games a year just from that alone."

Take that statement from Fox and then look at the Dontaie Allen situation this year with the number of minutes Askew and Boston were playing. When you're sitting the bench watching teammates on the court getting exposed game after game like Askew/Boston were and you are getting a few minutes of playing time like Allen did, then it's only a matter of time until the coach loses his team. Isn't it Cal who is always preaching that you aren't guaranteed any minutes and that you have to earn your playing time? I think Fletcher saw it happening early in the season and reacted like any 18 year old would.
