Do we take Cal for granted?

We got a 6 seed this season.
Season's not over, but the seed happens from time to time to every blue blood. Since 2016 we've had seeds of 4, 2, 5, 2, likely a 2 or 3, the 9-16 year, 2, and 6. Seems fine to me.

I’m not praising him I’m just pointing it out.

I don’t think that argument holds true. Clearly we’ve learned that it isn’t all about talent in college basketball, you can have all the talent/potential in the world but it doesn’t mean you can win 6 games in a row in March. Duke had 3 top 10 recruits this year and lost in the 2nd round. They also didn’t make a final four with 3 top 5 recruits the Zion year. That’s just two of countless examples.
You are free to give Cal all the praise that you can possibly provide. As for me, he has overstayed his welcome.

“9-16 happens, 1st round losses happen, 6 seeds happen”

Eventually you have to stop shrugging your shoulders and saying “it happens.”

You just listed the longest streak in the history of the program without a 1 seed. Sure, seems fine to me!

I respect your opinion. Again I’m not praising him. I want him here next year to see one last run with the recruiting class and if we can’t get it done Im ready to move on.

He should be paid in ebb and flow. If he was, I bet winning every game would become extremely important. There would be no more talk about March is what matters.
Ebb and flow for Ky is sweet 16’s, not the nightmare seasons Cal has logged of late

I think for the past 3 seasons fans have wanted Cal to get one more season. If things don't pan out next season, it will be one more season. Enough is enough!!

Since John Calipari took over Kentucky (2009-10), including the win over Providence on Friday, here are the most NCAA Tournament wins by program:

32 - Kentucky
32 - Kansas
31 - Duke
29 - North Carolina
28 - Gonzaga
24 - Michigan
23 - Villanova
Here comes the agenda from the newb account.

I do think if we don’t get it done this year or next the fanbase will be a lot more unified in wanting him gone. There will still be people who want him to stay but I think it’ll be a large majority ready to move on.

Honestly to me even looking at post 15, the good seasons haven't been the issue. While we haven't reached a final four, we had those type of teams in 17, 19 and last season. You keep putting together teams like that and you will reach final fours and maybe grab another title.

The issue IMO is all the other seasons tho. It's the lack of consistency. The best way to win a title is to be consistently good.

Even pre 15, we weren't really "consistent". We had great runs as a 4 seed and 8 seed which saved those seasons.

UK fans want consistency IMO. They want multiple years in a row of being 1s and 2s. Because that's how you win titles

Would it shock me if we had a very good season next year? No. But there has to be some consistency with it all.

Were you one who said it was time for Tubby to go? Don’t know.

Tubby’s teams and recruiting were ebb and flow and unfortunately he lost the fan base during his last ebb. He had Draymond Green committed to join Meeks and PPat and was about to go back into a flow period but it was too late.

It’s too late for Cal as well. Hopefully he’s like a dying patient who rallies right before he succumbs.
I want on here back then

The problem is most of those were from 2009-15 and I loved having Cal during that time. He was hungry.

Since losing to Wisconsin, he hasn’t been the same. To use Cal’s words against him, they broke his spirit.
Exactly what you said. Calipari DOMINATED in his first 6 seasons, has been pretty mediocre at best in the last 6-7 years. What are the numbers for the last 6-7 years?

The money doesn't ebb and flow, he is rich and is family is set for life, he has a contract that is difficult to buy out, and he loves to be right and will not change...because he doesn't have too and their is nothing short of making him richer that can be done about it. He doesn't get the best of the best anymore which is what he set the tournament wins with. I dont dislike him and hope he turns it around and sails off into the sunset on top of the College basketball world, but he has become complacent and it is something most humans would do under similar circumstances but it has adversely affected the Kentucky basketball program. When he came I hoped he would coach here until they had to roll him out in a wheelchair and I did not put stock in the "its a 10 year job" talk but I am believing now there may be something to that.
Money doesn’t matter when you don’t need it

We've been in a downward trend since 2015. 4 final fours, 2 title games from 09-15. 0 since. Ebb and flow though. Right.
It’s not like you can avoid down times. It is a lot easier for me though since I’m not overly invested.
