Calipari: ‘If you don’t have a post presence, your team is a fraud’

Outside of Bam?

Not yet but we are young and based on the tone of Cal's words he is working on it. All is good

We have guys who can become one in Bam and Humphries ,SKJ as well some . Gabriel is a SF pure and simple on offense but on D he is PF.

With Bam, Humphries and SKJ, we'll be fine as the season and players progress.

I would say KYtotheCore is our best presence when it comes to posting....it seems like that guy is posting about 20 new threads a day!!!

Other than Bam? Right now, unfortunately, I'm gonna have to say no. Humphries still needs to get over the hump...he's working on it, he'll get better.
I would like to see Edrice stay around the lane on D a little more instead of switching off and guarding people out by the 3 pt. line. He needs to stay around the goal...block out & rebound. The team has enough height to present issues for every team they face. I'd rather see the Cats get beat from 3 (the guards should be quick enough to defend against that), instead of the way they got beat by UCLA. From inside & outside!

You've got as much of a "post presence" as just about anyone in college basketball. Bam will likely end up a PF in the NBA, but, on the college level, he's far more than adequate. There just aren't that many high quality prototype big men around...and with all of the early entries to the pros, the supply is even less. How many college teams do you see going with guys who are 6'7", 210 playing center? I've not been all that impressed with Humphries, but, he's 7' and 250 and that's a luxury in a back-up few teams have...So, I'd say you're ahead of most...

NO, To me it's alarming that we don't have better guys in that area of the floor. I mean Cal is recruiting to such a high level that we don't have a guy that we can throw the ball in and get a basket or 2 guys. Bam may turn out ok but I don't think he is going to remind anyone of KAT, AD, Cousins. I mean we are really the same team as last year, lack of rebounding and a guy you can throw it inside and get a foul or score. Bryant or Meeks type, Giles comes back and that is their guy.

Considering 3of our 4 guards who play struggle shooting the ball....the half court offense needs to be built around throwing the ball in the post to Bam.
He will get the other teams bigs in foul trouble and they won't be able to contest our guards drives to the basket.

We're not even close to the same team as we were last year down there.

Bam's averaging 12 and 8. He's one rebound away from three straight double-doubles. He's never played that position in his life. "He's going to be fine" has become a cliché, but he's going to be fine.
