How come the reactive have to act like such ********? Do you think it is a genetic condition? Where is the evil dr?Definition of reactive vs supportive fans. My biggest complaint of Rupp-UK fans.

It's not the same as it used to be. Not even close. Just people who don't care and don't bring it. I can't decide what sucked worse? Our defense, the refs, or the Rupp Retires.
To be fair to the fans, there was really nothing to cheer for past the 10 minute mark in the first.
Would've helped if they quit knitting and reading books long enough to get off they're asses and cheer. It's not a social event.
K bro thanks. Appreciate the input.

The real avid fan has been priced out by UK Athletic Dept. The ticket office had many upper level tickets priced at $112.00 a pop. The seats in the upper arena stink. Why leave your 55" Ultra 4K TV for a $112 ticket.UCLA earned this win, and they rightfully won the game. I'm also not going over react. While losing is frustrating, we will be fine. But...unless tv didn't reflect the noise correctly, the crowd didn't treat this like a big game, and when we needed the noise in the last 10 minutes....nothing. Reactive cheering the whole game.
Faaaaaar the fansCrowd blew it.

To hell with you and your Rupp Retirees comment. Minimal turnovers meant minimal transition. Very few dunks and lots of missed shots! Not to mention our defense was horrid. So exactly what was there to get the crowd excited about? They played poorly and Cal better bring Humphries along and fast because we need more bulk inside and on the boards.
With all due respect, our fans brought the energy today, but sadly the team didnt. The crowd wanted to rock, but it isnt going to happen for long when the team is playing crappy and constantly giving up baskets.Well you know, sometimes it's the crowd that can help make and sustain that run, instead of just responding to it after it happens.
A trend I've recently noticed in comments is the way many BBNers now seem to think the crowd's job is simply to be reactive, in essence: if you players please us, we'll respond, if you don't, we won't. There used to be more of a view that the crowd should be pro-active, in terms of trying to motivate the team when down, disrupt the opponent when up, etc., instead of just waiting for something to respond to. It's been a subtle yet quite noticeable shift in recent years.
So true;. There was this little white headed lady dressed in blue who was sitting four rows up from the floor. She didn't get our of her seat one time to get a rebound or dunk the ball on a fast break. Why was she even at the game.Crowd blew it.

I was driving in the first half and listening to the game and it sounded real loud?UCLA earned this win, and they rightfully won the game. I'm also not going over react. Same here. I was there and it was incredibly loud for all the good stuff and when we tried to rally. UCLA did what they had to do to shut us up whenever it seemed as if we might turn the corner. But my ears were ringing when I left.********. I was at the game and the crowd was great. I was worried for Doug Shows' life a couple of times. You can blame a lot of things for the game but don't blame the crowd.
Sorry, but this strikes me as horseshit excuse-making. The crowd sure didn't appear "muted" when I watched that IU game a few nights ago. And it sure doesn't appear muted when I watch games at schools like Kansas, Duke or Michigan State either. Apparently the networks only like to do this muting thing when its at UK or UNC, the two schools that are notorious for giving all the good seats to the wine and cheese set and not the students.
I agree with the OP, I was a bit disappointed by what I saw of the crowd. An undefeated top 10 ranked UCLA opponent, UCLA's first ever trip to Rupp Arena--I thought for a matchup like that our fans would get mega-hyped up. But (although I admit I wasn't there), didn't really appear much the case on TV.
