Was great and perfect timing for the flyover. One of the best ever. I’m sure way better than what will happen during the halftime show.
He made it big in the country genre, got his start in a bluegrass band, and sings and sounds like a blues singer. And never changed his sound.
I don’t know if guys like him fit any specific genre.

I don’t think I’d ever heard him sing before. Actually, I know I hadn’t. But he was excellent. That was high quality. I’ll probably give him a listen now. Old country sound. Dudes legit.

Don’t get me wrong..Miss Whitney had a spectacular voice and she made some great music. But I was not impressed with her version of the Anthem

Watched Chris kill it and then promptly turned off the TV. The Super Bowl is as bloated and self-congratulatory as the Oscars these days.
You should guess classic rock, blues, and modern blues-rock.
I flipped channels. The show America's Got Talent was on. There was this 13 year old girl ventriliquist who could also sing. It was amazing. She won the show in her home country of Romania. Glad I changed the channel.
Turned the channel as soon as the 1st half ended. Watching Americas funniest Videos.

His version seemed a little overworked. Not my taste. Jennifer Hudson was the best.
Not a fan of the Star Spangled Banner and wish the anthem were something else. My dad would always tear up over "The Battle Hymn of the Republic." I envy the English and "Jerusalem." Such a gorgeous song.

Apparently the English have 2 anthems and the choice is determined by who wants to do it. The "other" song is NOT "God Save the [Queen|King]." It's "Thou Art the Ruler of the Minds of All People." Which I have never even heard of. The English sang "Jerusalem" during the Millennium celebrations.
"Jerusalem" has a beautiful tune and a comprehensible lyric -- a poem by William Blake. Ours has an unsingable tune and a run-on sentence by Francis Scott Key.

I’m not sure he’s “country” music. That dude is so bluesy, jazzy, Southern rocky, and countryish. End of the day, he’s just damned good.
