I know I beat a dead horse about it but the stupid weave is beyond infuriating. It literally accomplishes nothing other than running down the shot clock.

To DA's point though, most of those were from defense; not offense. In fact when those teams (even 96) struggled, it was because the other team valued the ball and didn't give us plenty of easy turnovers

Completely different era of basketabll. That 96 team was amazing, but that was a different time. Talent level outside of P5 schools was nonexistent, AAU ball didn’t exist, just really another world. So if you were serious about basketball you went to a P5 school. Now that doesn’t happen. Players go just about anywhere. So Talent level on these big name school rosters was stout. When you watched a P5 game, it was entertaining. Now talent is widely spread out. High value players sometimes skip college altogether. We can all ***** and moan about it but those days of college ball aren’t ever coming back and not a thing we can do about it.

I love DA, and he’s not completely wrong here, but he’s not completely right either.

UK shot 58% for the night. And 43% from the arc. When’s the last time you can recall any team shooting that high of a percentage for a game? We couldn’t miss.

LSU also scored 97 points. 55 points in the second half. Heck we scored another 40. Nobody played defense after halftime. Fun game. But just a different time.

I certainly don’t think Cal watches much YouTube.

There seems like a lot of jealousy amongst the the Pitino players towards Calipari and it’s been there from the day Calipari was hired.
I'm guessing they all know how much those two hate each other and 1) are taking Pitino's side and b) know they won't be getting a good job on the KY bench while Calipari is here. Some of them probably post on this board, lmao.

Lol. Just looked back at stats again. We shot 33 FTs that game. LSU **** 38. 71 FTs. Good grief. Sec hasn’t changed much.

UK also had 23 TOs. LlSU has 31. Woof.

The way you trash our history in order to prop up a 9 and 16 season is sad. Cal has made changes and this year is better but you need to stop trashing our history.

I’d say he sees the ship sinking and it pisses him off like those of us that see exactly what he’s venting about.
I get what’s he saying. But that was nearly thirty years ago too. The game is complete different in a lot of ways.

Funny how the guys that actually graduated from the university are more invested in its success.
We’ve had plenty of our Cal players come back and finish their degrees. John Wall amongst them. And I believe Boogie too.

Pitino vs. Calipari isn't a fair comparison when one is at UK and the other was at Louisville. Might as well compare Cal to Pitino when Cal was at UMass and Pitino at UK. It's apples and oranges, but you already knew that.

HAHAHA! But But But Pitino can take lemons and make Orange Juice..........say the Cal haters. What a dumb attempt to piss on Cal. You guys are a joke.

Post up another idiotic Cindy Crawford meme.

The 96 team would have boat raced that team.
i don’t know about boat raced. They couldn’t boat race a less talented cal coached umass team. Cals always kind of had pitino’s number too. coaches can be mismatches for each other due to style and system. Cal’s deliberate approach with the type of talent he has just works against pitino.

But i do think in the end the 96 team did more things really well than 2015. It’s unlikely the 96 team faced a team with the size of 2015 however.

That made you laugh out loud? That's strange. I like Calipari and Pitino.

You live in a world where the two are mutually exclusive, which is a weirdo-type world.

96 had a senior two guard, a junior point guard, a senior power forward a senior center and a sophomore small forward. If the 2015 team would have stayed together for two or three years they may have been as good. People seem to forget that players used to stay in school and get much better than they are now. I know we're not going back to that but the games changed mainly by that. Ron Mercer barely got off the bench in 96. DA was coming off the bench. That is a really good team.

Cal's record since 2016 is Kryptonite to anyone willing to look objectively at the downward trend.

You're not willing, so there's that.

This reminds me of the final years of the Tubby era. The fanbase was divided, with 1 group acting as if UK basketball couldn't get any better. I was a part of the group that said he needed to go, but I'm not quite there yet with Cal. I don't think he wins another title here, however. The man is just too stuck in his ways.

Pitino stomped UMass in the Final Four.

Did you miss that memo?
So 1-1 yet Pitino is worlds better. How many more NBA players did Pitino have over Cal that season, since y’all will use that metric to excuse Cal kicking Pitino’s *** while here.

some of y’all would beg Pitino to pee in your mouth and bend you over at an Italian restaurant.

I always like to compare guys like Anthony Davis and MKG to Peyton Siva and Russ Smith and call it a draw from a talent advantage, too.
And yet the final difference was seven points. Rick had a very good team that year and Cal outcoached him.

We always here how UofL is still a top tier job in college basketabll, but then make excuses for Rick when he couldn’t draw talent there. Which is it?

Note, I’m not taking a shot at either coach. I’m saying Cal was simply better while Rick was there. The two games Cal did lose was by a total of…..checks notes….6 big points.

Cal owned Pitino while he was there and out coached him.
