The concept of campus police is ridiculous and a grand waste of taxpayer money in my opinion. Campus security is more fitting. I've had two connections with the UNL version and both cases were little big man episodes. Once I was stopped by them and was detained for some time. Another pseudo cop came blazing up and parked cocked at an angle to impede any other traffic. He turned his red and blue lights on and talked with the original fake cop for ten minutes while I waited in the car. Eventually they come up and ask do I know why I was stopped to which I answered no. They said I changed lanes in the middle of an intersection. I had no choice, the lane ended abruptly at an intersection and there is no way to avoid it. Thug life.
Eventually all this fanfare led to a warning which I associate to something out of a cereal box. Their ' tickets' mean nothing to me.
These clowns should handle a sexual assault accusation? Good lord I hope not.

If all you got from my post is that campus police needed to be involved, that is your problem.

I didnt get anything from you. I didnt quote or refer to anything you said. My post has nothing to do with you.
And by the way, wth? I posted this and was immediately notified that there was a response. I mean seconds after it was up. You are on the job.

I was the only person to bring up campus police in a post and did so in a reply to you. Of course you were replying to me. Just admit it and move on.

As far as the timing, I was on here, had just posted something in this thread and your post showed up at the same time so I responded. It isn’t that weird at all.

I will take this reply as an admission to the fact that you were indeed replying to my campus police reference.

Just don't reply back too fast. What is the required time needed to pass by before a response can be posted?

I shouldn't tell you Tuco but you really don't occupy my mind. You're just another poster among hundreds. However, I promise to pay more attention. Maybe you need a schtik. I do like to read King Kong's posts simply because its such a broken record of hilarity. He is so happy he was 'right' about Harburg. In reality nearly every other qb quit, and what's left is simply unplayable.
Maybe latch yourself onto a player and try to claim some brilliance.

Bravo.
Your claiming to be right of something imaginary because you misquoted me.

Dude, you literally called me out for replying too fast to a post of yours. So to sit here and write that you weren't replying to me about the the campus police comment is disingenuous at best.

I didn't imply that I occupied your mind. Clearly I am on your mind a little though because you are taking time to address me in a post. Thanks for that, my heart is full.

Why you are mentioning and appear to be calling out @king_kong_ in a post you are addressing to me. That is sort of an indication that some posters do occupy your mind.

Baylor paid out millions because the AD and the coach purposely hid crimes from the school’s judicial affairs department.

It only becomes a potential lawsuit when you attempt to hide things from the people whose job it is to investigate these complaints.

Here is a link to a very current article for your reading pleasure, you will see that Baylor’s issues and the reasons for the lawsuits come from how they handled situations on their campus.

I think he's referring to one specific case. I don't remember all the details, but there was one player in particular who had done the same things at another school and Briles took him anyway. I think when it all came crumbling down, Briles tried to claim they had no idea about the player's past, and the former school came out and called BS and that Briles was specifically warned. That one situation was a really big part of the problem for Baylor. Not sure if it necessarily resulted in a lawsuit any different from the rest on its own, but it definitely played a huge role in the totality of evidence against them. That was the worst of the bunch from what I remember.

That changes nothing in my opinion. Baylor was still sued because of how they handled the situations on their campus.

Edited because of premature postjaculation

No one can claim that Baylor paid out millions simply because the recruited and signed a player who had a criminal record at a previous school. The paid out millions because the head coach lied about knowing about the transgressions. They were sued because there were multiple players on the team raping and pillaging, drinking and driving etc and the head coach and other members of his staff were hiding these crimes. The AD aided in hiding the crimes. For crying out loud, if they had just handled the first situation quickly and correctly, it would have probably gone away. Briles, McCaw and their staffs allowed this to perpetuate with their cover ups. That is why they were sued and paid out millions. Not because one player with a criminal record was allowed to play football at Baylor.

The player he may be referring to transferred from Boise St. He was arrested at Baylor for sexual assault. Peterson at Boise did say that Briles knew everything about he player, but that none of the instances involved domestic violence or sexual assault. In fact that particular player never played a down at Baylor. So all of the stuff they are still being sued for involved several players before and after that dude showed up on campus.

Correct. At least that's my recollection of it all. It would probably only technically be a legal liability if it became some kind of systemic issue like Baylor's and this added to the evidence. That said, it would certainly not be a good look if something were to happen again. Big risk for sure, whether there's a direct specific legal risk or not.

This campus police reference thing seems really important to you. So if you want a certificate or something I'd be glad to make one up for you. It doesn't mean a thing to me.

To those unbothered by the thought of letting a woman beater into the university and allowing him the privilege (not a right) to play football, there is a more practical consideration: with his track record, should he beat up a woman here in Lincoln, the university can and will be sued for huge money because it knowingly brought in an abuser to the community.

Does this go for every student on campus or just the football players? These players are a microcosm of society. My guess he would be one of many students who has or are dealing with a similar situation. Does this same energy go to others also? Or do we pretend they don't exist? Just my thought and it remains the same. In most cases I think guys deserve second chances. Be it UNL or other places. In society in general. Maybe I'm naive just my thoughts tho.

the university knowingly allows predatory credit card companies to peddle to their students

unwitting financial double penetration (ridiculous uni costs + instant debt/credit score mangling)

without football, the university would serve zero purpose

The difference being that playing football and getting a free education in return is a privilege. At least that's what I think he was trying to say.

Well I guess we simply can agree to disagree. Nothing is "free" about the education these guys are getting. Football is a year round sport now and these guys put the work in. They are finally being compensated financially and imo it was a long time coming. But I guess I understand why some think the way they do. I guess I just disagree.

Barney Fifes. A buddy and me were stopped by a fat slob campus cop while walking back from the bar. He demanded ID and all kind of info. I refused. He made a made a move to physically detain me. Little big man indeed. I ditched him. He was gasping for air within a few seconds of the chase so I taunted him. I guess they carry tasers nowadays.

Their "free" education comes with needing to keep their grades up, taking a certain amount of classes and after doing their classes and work for classes....they put in

3-5 hours per day during the week. They are locked in a hotel room Friday night, if the game on Saturday is a night game, their entire Saturday is spent at the stadium and it brings in money to the school.

If you are worried about women on campus, well, studies show 1/5 (maybe 1/4) will be assaulted, which is insane and super high, which I guess means there should be zero guys on campus at all.

That argument is not really logical. If a high school student gets a DUI, is later accepted into a college and has an alcohol-related accident on campus, is the college liable?

I worked for the UNL Police as a student dorm guard in the early 80s. The UNL police officers are commissioned by the Governor and the Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. So in the pecking order, UNL cops are below State Troopers, but have more authority than the Lancaster County Sheriffs and the Lincoln Police.

Trey Palmer was a transfer from LSU, not a juco. Unless he got to LSU via juco.
This is true but not relevant to the specific comment to which I was responding, "highly rated recruits that transfer because they had a problem at a previous school usually are busts"

Well if his argument was D1 transfers don’t work out then that’s patently false. Literally 100s of examples of successful transfers. I thought this was a juco thing…
