  1. The SAVE act is an 80-20 issue but I don't think Trump should be using it as leverage over he shutdown.
  2. You're totally mischaracterizing the offer made by democrats. If that's all they wanted they would have passed the original house bill.

You're lying

1. VOTER ID is an 80/20 issue, the SAVE ACT is not
2. I just showed you what was in the bill they agreed to last night that Trump vetoed, your opinion of what they wanted is irrelevant.

Why do all Trumpers lie about everything? Are you ashamed of the truth?

This could be helpful to you acutely, with respect to your current lines of argumentation, and as to your overall MAGAtdom.

Glub, glub, mothereffer.

Wrong. Voter Id is a 80-20 issue. Only 30% of Americans support the save act. Stop spreading misinformation.

If voter ID is a 80-20 issue, why do democrats oppose it? It’s long been vehemently opposed independent of the save act. Honest question.
Because no tangible voter fraud exists. Every single time there’s some big investigation nothing is found. Most voter fraud is committed by republicans. It’s not a problem. It’s an imaginary boogey man invented by the GOP to try to disenfranchise voters, as they understand that their policies are not popular so the only way to win elections is to either lie, commit fraud, or reduce the amount of people who vote

If not doesn’t exist, yet is wildly popular, why oppose it? Popular with voters and no impact to voters. I really don’t get it.

Because making photo ID required and other so-called “anti-voter fraud” measures does nothing for voter fraud. It simply makes it harder to vote and restricts voting access.

If voter fraud was a huge issue then democrats would be on board with implementing laws to limit it. But it’s not an issue.

Serious question, why are you so immature? Surely you can see you're the only poster who acts like a school-age mean girl, no?
Well if anyone knows what a school-age girl acts like, it would be you, Dpic. It’s the disgusting Dem in you.
My turn to ask a question…
Did you march any political protests this past weekend — {insert “Laughies

In this world of totally factual news....I'm always surprised how people jump on to whatever facts are laid out on the internet - as long as they support their individual biases...

well, since this is the accepted standard..I've got one for you...I read that the person arrested not only couldn't prove her citizenship (apparently because she isn't one - according to reports), she has a deportation order from 2019 and is in the country illegally in spite of that order.

Let's look at this positively, after the hand wringing on the Sunday news shows, we've gone a full day without ICE agents killing any American citizens as predicted but our house minority leader. Of course that doesn't mean a dozen or so won't be shot and killed today.

I'm not worried about getting shot by an ICE agent at the airport. I realize that some people will consider me quite naive.

FWIW Jeffries also said that republicans cut Medicaid but reality is they just required able bodied working age people without dependents to work 20 hrs per week. He said tens of millions would lose insurance coverage if enhanced covid subsidies weren't extended. The reality is that 1.4 million fewer people are getting insurance through the exchange and many of them are getting coverage elsewhere.

you don't mean democrats (or republicans) would stretch reality in their statements?

  • The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act would require all American citizens registering to vote or updating their registration information to present documentary proof of citizenship in person. For the vast majority of Americans, this would be a passport or birth certificate.
  • Government-issued driver’s licenses—including REAL IDs—as well as military or tribal IDs do not satisfy the bill’s requirements.
  • The legislation would invert the responsibility to verify a person’s eligibility and citizenship status from election officials and the government onto every single American citizen, making citizens convince the government that they’re eligible to exercise their right to vote.
  • The SAVE Act would change the way all citizens register to vote upon enactment. It would upend online voter registration, make it impossible to mail in a registration application, and eliminate voter registration drives.

- Approximately 146 million American citizens do not possess a valid passport—for context, 153 million Americans voted in the 2024 presidential general election.
-84 percent of women who marry change their surname, meaning as many as 69 million American women do not have a birth certificate with their legal name on it and thereby could not use their birth certificate to prove citizenship. The SAVE Act makes no mention of being able to show a marriage certificate or change-of-name documentation

Even small changes such as moving into an apartment building, moving down the block, or changing party affiliation are considered voter registration updates. Under the SAVE Act, Americans would have to go in person to their election office and present original or certified documentation to make any voter registration change.

This would make civic participation much more difficult for tens of millions of citizens every election cycle and would outright disenfranchise millions more. The policies of the SAVE Act would also be in addition to state voter ID laws that require voters to show identification at the polls:

Our media is horrible. They're at the point where they identify the political bias of their readers/viewers and slant their reporting in that direction. It's nearly impossible to find a media source with non biased reporting.

  1. The passport argument is a red herring. It's just one way to prove citizenship.
  2. Everybody has a birth certificate and it's relatively easy to get a replacement if you lost it (online at vital records office).

Tell us the other ways. Also, tell us how those ways work if the Second Reich is successful in eliminating birthright citizenship?

Assuming you were able to convince someone (at gunpoint, I'm assuming) to marry you and change their name, how would your wife, who is Mary Smith on her birth certificate, prove she's a US citizen if her name is now Mary deDipsh!t?

Consider how many hillbillies (aka red state residents) the requirement of proof of citizenship would disenfranchise. Few of them have traveled outside the confines of the rural backwater in which they reside, so they have no passport. And if a certified copy of their birth certificate is required, that word "certified" is certain to trip them up.

Neither argument that you have made here is accurate. Not everybody has a birth certificate. Not everyone is born in a hospital.

Heard a senator on squawk box this morning say that they are going to do a straight up or down vote only on voter ID this week. I imagine that will be well supported by the Dems if it’s the other things in the Save act they don’t like?
I thought they already had a vote solely on voter ID and the Dems blocked it...
