I read several articles on Napier last night and I'd do whatever it took to get him. He seems like a guy that will only take a P5 job if he gets full buy in from the administration.
Speaking of Napier. Check this out.

I read Billy turned down 3 SEC jobs. He would have control over his staff at Nebraska. As much as I hate to say this, the old saying defense wins championships is no longer true. I have to say I am surprised at how Frost has turned out for you guys, I thought he was homerun hire and would have Nebraska competing with tOSU for the conference championship annually.
But imo of Monken, a good coach but he doesn't beat good teams with his system. Malzahn won't let his OC call plays and he can't coach QBs worth a lick. Freeze is an offensive guru and QB developer, if you can get passed his ethical and moral issues he is one of the top coaches anywhere. Chadwell comes with some recruiting baggage, might not be a good option right now with rumors of things Frost did. I know Napier personally, I was one of his HS coaches. Very smart, goal driven, but he has turned down 2 SEC jobs to stay with the Cajuns. I know for a fact part of it was he was not going to have full control of his staff and 1 was a major rebuilding job.
I can see the headlines now... "Nebraska moving from Frost to Freeze"I read Billy turned down 3 SEC jobs. He would have control over his staff at Nebraska.
I'm sure Billy ideally would prefer an SEC job. Still gotta ask though and have him on the list.
Chadwell's baggage isn't that bad.
Freeze, there wouldn't be a better hire out there besides the well known big names. There is no way Freeze stays at Liberty past this season and I suspect he will never be allowed back into the SEC. So Nebraska could strike here and hire a damn good coach.
We will see how things go.

Better resources didn't work when Nebraska hired Mike Riley, so most likely it wouldn't make Whitingham any better either. But think Whitingham could be like Mack Brown and sell out to win before his career is over. Get him resources and gave an understanding of staff expectations and recruit/transfer philosophy necessary to win
I added Gus Malzahn. Won a conference title in two different conferences and coached for a national championship ( a real one, not fake UCF stuff).
Yes, I know Frost beat him, but you we know now that was due to Milton.
Gus would bring option concepts back to Nebraska. I don't see why he would want to stay at UCF vs going back to the P5 level.

Frankly, where is the fit to Lincoln. Reminds me a coach who went to Ames, then left Ames for Auburn.
Tom Allen was born and raised in Indiana.
Nebraska needs to find a coach, when the time comes that can fit and bring an appropriate identity to Lincoln.
Gus, really?

These coaches brought an identity to their new job, despite not being a native son:
Bob Devaney accomplished that at Nebraska.
Hayden Fry, Barry Alvarez and to a lesser extent PJ Fleck, all brought that to their respective Big Ten programs..
Bret Bielema is a native of Illinois.
Who in the coaching ranks could accomplish this and be successful in Lincoln, when the time comes?
I was never high on Frank Solich, Bo Pelini or Scott Frost for various reasons.
Bill Callahan and Mike Riley were fall backs, it seemed, when ADs couldn't get their #1 targets. Wasn't that the case.
Scott Frost and his staff need to step up and finish September strong.
Chris Klieman opened at home in 2020 and lost 35-31 to Arkansas State 35-31 last year. The next game at Oklahoma was a 38-35 win, as a +27 underdog.
So, can Scott Frost beat Fordham and Buffalo, then be like K-State, in Norman?
Not likely, but Oklahoma lost to a 4-6 team in 2020.
They have lost two straight to the Wildcats.
Nebraska needs to flush this loss and play better. As some have mentioned, don't self-destruct, and play with lack of awareness and discipline, Illinois likely loses.
5-6 plays cost Nebraska dearly.
I actually loved Billy’s offense…offense? Anyway…he was actually good looking back. His downfall was definitely Cosgrove. Good lord he could put up points and make it look pretty….until he got enamored with Keller the video gamer QB. We really had something there. His schemes made frosts look like grade school stuffFrankly, where is the fit to Lincoln. Reminds me a coach who went to Ames, then left Ames for Auburn.

Coastal Carolina offensive plays against Hugh Freeze last season
Scored triple the points this one has….in every game. And this is supposedly an offensive geniusThat offense failed a lot against good teams.
Frost had a much better resumé than Chadwell when we hired him. What makes people think Chadwell would be able to get it done here when Frost couldn't even deliver one winning season?
We have to find someone that can recruit. Why would top recruits be interested in coming to cold Nebraska to play for a Sun Belt Conference coach?

Top recruits? Which ones? Frost and his frat buddy staff fck up recruits for the most part. At least offensively. I'd have to think about the defensive side, but some of those seem to pan out and some three stars there even seem to contribute.Frost had a much better resumé than Chadwell when we hired him. What makes people think Chadwell would be able to get it done here when Frost couldn't even deliver one winning season?
We have to find someone that can recruit. Why would top recruits be interested in coming to cold Nebraska to play for a Sun Belt Conference coach?
No.Tom Herman should get a look. He was turning it around at Texas last season before the boosters showed him the door. He can recruit Texas and runs an offense that is attractive to skill recruits. I hate to say it but, young skilled people are not longing for the days of four yards and a cloud of dust.
Look, I loved the option game and the power I formation but those days are long gone. I believe Herman can recruit talent and has learned from his Texas days. Time will tell.
Chadwell's resume:
79-52 overall record
4 conference titles, with 3 in different conferences
2 seasons went undefeated in conference play
11 years as a head coach and only 44 years old
Frost's resume as a head coach prior to Nebraska
2 seasons as a head coach
19-7 and never won a game until Milton started. Milton is what made Frost look good now that we have the evidence to look back and see what the real reality was.
Chadwell's resume as a head coach is far superior to Frost's.
1: More seasoned
2: Won conference titles in more than one conference
3: Consistently shows up as one of the top rushing offenses in the country the last 3 years
4: Younger than Frost
5: More seasons undefeated in conference play
Look, many of us, myself included, were wrong about Scott Frost. It happens in life. None of us are perfect. When you know the result, it's time to cut ties and go with something different.
They have been playing football for like 15 years or so. It's a young program with no history and he rose through the ranks of a D2 coach to now coaching at the FBS level. Same path that the Notre Dame head coach took. Not every coach takes the same path to a P5 head coaching job.Chadwell won two conference titles at the FCS level, and one in the Sun Belt Conference. He's spent most of his career at the D-II and FCS levels, he's never coached in a Power 5 Conference even as an assistant. He lost to Liberty in a bowl game, and never made it past the FCS Quarterfinals.
Frost had an undefeated season, won the AAC Conference, beat Auburn in a BCS Bowl Game, had the #1 offense in the country, had been an Offensive Coordinator for a major program that made the National Championship game, and had coached under and played for some of the best coaches in the game.
If a guy with Frost's pedigree can't win here or recruit here at a high level, I don't know why people think a guy who has never coached at a higher level than the Sun Belt Conference will be able to compete against the top coaches in the Big Ten, and out-recruit them.
I didn't say anything about our current offense, but let's not revise history here thinking Cally set the world on fire.Scored triple the points this one has….in every game. And this is supposedly an offensive genius
Speaking of Napier. Check this out.
I think we have a puncher's chance to upset Buffalo. Depending on how many turnovers AM has early.Nebraska will never upset anyone. Not with this staff,Mark it down
It can work. Gus used variations of it for years in the SEC West.I think the main question will be can it work in the big against bigger and faster defense. I certainly like the offense, better get a QB that can run it.
Somehow made Peddy State relevant again and good enough for Saban, but you're right, prob dont want himPlease don't curse me with Bill O'Brien again. He and Jack Easterby literally ruined my Texans fandom.
Saban failed in the NFL.Somehow made Peddy State relevant again and good enough for Saban, but you're right, prob dont want him
His side did well yesterday despite no help in time of possession and mistakes from the O & special teams.Chinander.
Let's be honest. What's he started with and what he's able to put on the field now are vastly different products. I have a feeling he's going to be a pretty good head coach before it's all said and done.
Almost think that’s how Frost viewed this job. Thought he could cruise and being a hometown guy have no expectations.Thank you!
People just don't seem to get it. Making crazy bank at a job with no expectations is a dream for these guys.
So if you are making X dollars at Minny, where you can basically go .500, why leave?
Some jobs are dream jobs because there are no expectations.
video of Jamey Chadwell's option principles in his rushing attack
He might be the guy Nebraska needs.
Tom Allen is a heck of a coach. No way we could poach a Big10 coach though.Have we mentioned the guy at Indiana.
