I think AVG might even be a little generous. Mills might be a good power runner if he gets a bit of a crease, but there just aren't any creases to be had behind this line, and he has shown little ability to make people miss, bounce to the outside, etc, IMO. WR gives us more options behind this line (even if he didn't exceed Mills' yards per carry avg).

Wasn't he the one who missed the block that resulted in Vedral being sacked which resulted in a game changing fumble?

I mean, it might have been him, but Vedral sort of ran right into that guy and then acted like he had never been tackled before in his life. I know Vedral is sort of a sacred cow to some Husker fans but he did about everything wrong possible on that play.

It looked like a TMart play.

He was, but I'm pretty sure he carried it a couple times after that. Which made me wonder if he was hurt.

Mills has a great attitude and a solid power running skillset. Bad timing for this team. If we were rolling with the speed spread, he wouldve been the perfect counter punch. We should just switch to a ball-control offense the rest of the year and try to keep the opposition's points down, Mills would probably do a bit better

From what I saw, Mills was set to receive a pass and he had linemen lined up to block for him. That' why Vedral looked to be underhanding the ball when the defender got to him. It looked like some good yardage was to be had if Vedral dumps that ball off to Mills.

As for Mills and why he doesn't get more touches, his vision is awful. It's flat out horrendous.

You get him with an obvious lane and a straight line to run in, he can get some things done. You need him to see and feel cutbacks, forget it.

That said, trying to run Wan'dale inside repeatedly is not the answer. Kid was literally getting picked up and slammed multiple times yesterday. I love Wan'dale, he's an amazing player and he's got the best skillset and heart of anyone on that offense. But 170 lbs vs 300 lbs...you only get to do that so many times before kid gets hurt.

I agree. His vision is really bad. He'd be a stud if he had any vision, but he doesn't. He just isn't a fit in this scheme. It'll be interesting to see what we have with Rahmir now that he should be able to get some snaps upcoming.

I remember Ahman running into people all the time because his "timing" was all wrong in the option. He would get the ball and just sprint into the back somebody. There is a tempo to being running back that takes time in different offenses. And trust. Remember that our oline was awful, then bad, now kind of bad...you have to trust your guys to actually get to the 2nd level and get the blocks if you are going to be patient...WR has a natural ability to put his foot in the ground and go, from zero to top speed which makes these things seem easier for him.

What happened to this great strength and conditioning program Scott never shuts up about? We are just as slow weak and injured as we were when Riley was here.

they don't want mills to get into a rythem running he ball, so it's just one carry here or there., it's like that denver fb, where they don't want to really use him so they are fresh for the pros

The best thing about Mills is that it seems like he actually gives a f***. Hard work pays off eventually. I think he’s the type of guy who needs multiple touches, make the defense tackle that guy continuously for 4 quarters and see what happens.

Mills averages 4.52 yards a carry. WI's star RB averages 5.7 yards a carry. Is it realistic that Mills could average more yards per carry than WI's star RB next year? Yes.

Mills started slow but he is getting things going at a higher level, plays hard, and cares. He is NOT a problem on the offense now that he is getting a feel for the offense.

Wandale averages 4.2 yards per carry.

The difference between the two is the homerun threat.

Wandale is a lethal threat in the passing game, averaging 12.3 yards per catch for 407 yards. The only stat that needs to get better in his passing reception game are the amount of TD's he has. He needs to get into the endzone more often in the passing game.

Get 3 deep with Wandale type of production out of the Duck R to go with a deep passing threat and the inside run game and this offense will destroy defenses weekly.

Zero touches in the second half for Mills. Was he hurt too?

Scott Frost has no idea what he is doing when calling plays. He needs an OC. How many times do we run sideways and get tackled for losses on 3rd or 4th and 1. Happens all the time under Scott Frost. It happened last Saturday. Get a Physical Full Back and get some Physical offensive Linemen and knock someone out of the way for a yard like we use to do.

He hasn't been good at identifying the weaknesses on the offense and adjusting his offense to that. However he was a great playcaller at UCF when he had the players to run the offense.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on that one.
