That’s very true, but they actually played the part early in the season. Comparing them to Duke is apples to oranges. Kansas fell off the elite tier as soon as they lost their big man. Still good, but nowhere near the upper echelon. They ended about where you would have figured. No real threat.
Duke had tons of talent, obviously, and was more than capable of winning it all. Say anything different and you’re kidding yourself. But, as we have learned many times, being capable of winning it all and actually winning it all are two different things. Luckily, they flamed out and left ESPN heartbroken. Should have lost a round earlier too which would have made it even sweeter. Still doesn’t take away from the talent they had. They were a threat.
