Just seems like an unnecessary battle to fight. Such a small part of Mississippi's issues. We are fighting over our spending, we need to figuring out our INCOME problem, or at least some other areas of bigger spending.
Bolivar County has six districts.. There are actually 141 school districts with 141 Superintendents that are members of the Mississippi Association of School Superintendents. But I think there are 10 or so districts with superintendents that are not members.
I don't agree with that 3 million figure obviously (I know you explained it in the other post). That's a little ridiculous, plus there's no guarantee what you spend it on is going to be a net positive. And....you take away a solid job from the community, one that lives/pays taxes/etc. Using the rest of his known life as justification that somehow you could make a lump sum payment of 3 million dollars is kind crazy. Am I seeing this wrong? There is real money wasted in education. Again, each superintendent you elminate is on the order of $3 to $4M worth of money. THat's not insignificant to most of the small counties in Mississippi, especially when you are talking about giving up essentially nothing to get it.
How do I get on the birthday shout out list?
^^^^This All Day^^^^ need career development , Vo-Tech and Life Skills after the 8th grade... High School is basically a waste of time in even good schools now.Biggest issue is not having access to higher math, writing, and sciences in the smaller schools and forcing kids to do 13 years when some would be better off in trade schools or higher learning earlier.
We as a state and country waste tons of money educating to the lowest common denominator. Need more individual testing g and placement for all the kids.
I'll give a little when it comes to some very small districts that are just awful, they can certainly benefit from being absorbed into another, better district.

And who's to say those jobs are not needed and "duplicated"?
We all agree with this (unless you are a globalist liberal). If consolidation achieves this, I could get on board. But unfortunately, to-date, all consolidation is basically pushed only to save money, and results are bigger classrooms and less teachers.^^^^This All Day^^^^ need career development , Vo-Tech and Life Skills after the 8th grade... You said contracts weren’t addressed. I assumed you meant teachers haven’t been issued contracts for next year. Are you meaning whether or not they will continue to get paid the remainder of the year? If so, that’s even worse. MDE assured us within the first week that we would be getting paid for the remainder of the year regardless of shay happens.
