It's been said the staff is really high on Williams, and wants him badly. Regardless of what year or other players.
I have seen some teams have 2-3 guys redshirt in the same year so I can't imagine that counts against your 13. Didn't FL have at least 2-3 guys sit out a year ago? He's still on scholarship, even as he sits out, I believe
I'm pretty sure the plan is for Toppin to sit out regardless right? So actually that would be 3 open. Everything I read made it sound like he wanted to sit out and that was the plan.

Well, actually he isn't really a redshirt he's a sit-out transfer. So does that count against the schools total the year he sits out? Like with Hauser at Mich St last year? Because some teams have 3+ guys transfer in that have to sit out each year like TT. I don't see how they would have enough schollys to play if those count against the sit-out year.Yes, they do

Man, I don't see how some teams do what they do then. TT lives off transfers. So we have 11 guys for 2020 and 9 that can for sure play. That's why I really think Cal should try to add 2 more especially if one is the Frank kid that's 100+ because he isn't bringing much next year and if Sarr doesn't get freed we could still be screwed. If we are taking him I hope it's Williams too. Losing Sarr would still hurt extremely bad, but having at least one center in the Freshman and Williams who could play in small-ball would be better than what we have now for options.I should not have labeled him a red shirt; but Ineligible transfers definitely tie up scholarships
He has always operated this way early in the year he is going to give Whitney, Skal, Hami a longer leash because of their potential but as we get into January and February the rotation shortens and the play style turns to looking to get our most efficient scorers the ball. Next year if Boston or Clarke where to struggle early they will probably have a longer leash than anyone else on the team.Cal switched this year and went with the best 5 when he switched to the 3 guard lineup over the Freshman. That makes me think Cal is done with appearing Freshman who might quit or transfer anyway. He gave Whitney and Juzang plenty of minutes and support and it didn't work out for **** so maybe he's ready to roll with the best he has like last year.
Everybody knows how difficult it is for us to get guys that can shoot the ball. This guy appears to be one of the best shooters in college basketball. We probably don't have anybody on the current roster that can out shoot him. He would help open up more space for the bigs and stretch the floor for his teammates. We won't have a Quickley this season but this guy could probably help ease that loss. I think we need him and think he would make us better. Outside shooting is the unknown left with the guys we will have.I'd love to have him, but where's he fit?
Doesn't make any sense to transfer and come off the bench/fight for minutes.
So you think we should get Williams in case Sarr isn’t able to play immediately? You realize Williams has to get a waiver to be eligible immediately too right? I’m not following your logic.Man, I don't see how some teams do what they do then. TT lives off transfers. So we have 11 guys for 2020 and 9 that can for sure play. I really wish the Sarr thing could be ruled on and done in the next 3-4 weeks so we don't get screwed. Or add a guy like Maker or Cisse if available so we have a top guy if we lose Sarr. Anyone know how long it takes to get a ruling from the NCAA on a case like Sarr's or will try drag this out until we can't replace him if he isn't given the go-ahead?
Maybe Ware/Jackson don't scare him and he sees himself and Brooks battling for minutes at the 3/4.
Plus, Mulder and Dodson both picked Kentucky knowing we had guys like Miller/Liggins (Dodson) and Briscoe/Matthews (Mulder) and maybe Murray on the way. I know they were JC guys, but it's the same issue.
It worked out pretty well in 2015, before Poythress went down. That team runs the table fairly easy if he doesn’t get injured IMO. Shuttling 5 in and out was one of that team’s biggest strengths. I guess it just all depends on your personnel. No don’t say it....it’s silly to substitute 4-5 guys at a time. Florida State has consistently played a rotation of 9-11 guys the last couple years and won a lot and they don’t substitute in mass like a hockey game.
Williams will probably have to sit out and then play the next two years. He is already better than Boston and Clarke and would be great if he could play next year but Cal has his 5 star pets and he will play them to make sure they get to the nba. If Williams could play next year we would be dynamite.
I think Williams has an even better shot at the waiver than does Sarr. Evansville, of course, had the head coaching change mid season. Not only that, but Williams missed half the season last year with an injury as well.So you think we should get Williams in case Sarr isn’t able to play immediately? Williams is good, without a doubt. I don’t believe he’s better than Clarke and Boston now. He’s not better than them now, and probably will never be better than them. What’s your beef with these two guys? Earlier you stated one of them wouldn’t start. That’s just insane.Williams will probably have to sit out and then play the next two years. That’s a pretty bold statement my man, if Williams is that good why doesn’t he just stay in the draft. I want him to come to UK but I would think he would challenge Brooks at the 4 spot!Williams will probably have to sit out and then play the next two years. You evidently don't know basketball.Williams will probably have to sit out and then play the next two years. I understand what you’re saying. I just think those two freshmen are special. Best wing duo since AD/Mercer IMO. I could be wrong, though. I have been before. Just ask my wife, she’ll tell ya. [laughing]Cow town no beef at all,but Williams is talented , experienced and bigger than those two freshmen that are unproven. I like the idea of size and experience and talent. The 2 freshmen will be fine.

I agree wholeheartedly, brother. Will make a fantastic sixth man. He’s extremely versatile.Williams will be a reserve for us if he comes here, IMHO.
I am expecting him to play about 20mpg as a reserve at the 3 and 4. That is assuming both Sarr and Williams get waivers.
You know I love ya BBD, but I gotta give that one a big old “NOPE”.He is already better than Boston and Clarke.

Where are you seeing this if I might ask??Looks like UK is not landing Anselem now lol. Hoping for Williams. What are chances Williams gets a waiver? I’m not familiar with his situation.
Don’t forget about Allen. Fletcher too. I know that makes ten, but still. We have a killer 8-man rotation with Sarr and Williams eligible.
Good mix. Four experienced players (Brooks, Mintz, Sarr, Williams) and four very talented Freshmen (Clarke, Boston, Askew, and Jackson or Ware).
Hope it works out for us.
I don’t disagree. I was simply pointing out he was saying if Sarr isn’t going to be eligible he’d rather have Williams than Anselem. I was simply saying it makes no sense to get another guy who has to get a waiver as insurance for a guy who needs a waiver. Possibly not being cleared. I agree with your points.I think Williams has an even better shot at the waiver than does Sarr. Evansville, of course, had the head coaching change mid season. Not only that, but Williams missed half the season last year with an injury as well.
Someone posted on twitter his top 4 and UK was no longer listed.Where are you seeing this if I might ask??
We have a 9 man rotation regardless if Williams or Sarr are eligible. We have a killer 8-man rotation with Sarr and Williams eligible.

Sounds like Williams is gonna be the guy! I’m sure that’s who Keion’s dad was referring tooSomeone posted on twitter his top 4 and UK was no longer listed.
I think Anselems coaches are talking out the both sides of their mouths. First they say he’s a project and needs two or three years to develop, and then tell another sports writer that Frank isn’t coming if UK lands a big man

Very good news as SDSU is a team who was in on Frank Anselem. Looks like it’s down to 4 with Syracuse, Hall, Arkansas, and WKU. https://t.co/7HYKUleAwa
— SHU MBB Coverage(@pirates_mbb) May 7, 2020

Yep, don't understand the logic of those who seem to think Sarr will get a waive bu that Williams will not.I think Williams has an even better shot at the waiver than does Sarr. Evansville, of course, had the head coaching change mid season. Not only that, but Williams missed half the season last year with an injury as well.
Oh I knew what you meant. I was just stating my opinion on the matter. No worries.I don’t disagree. I was simply pointing out he was saying if Sarr isn’t going to be eligible he’d rather have Williams than Anselem. Now I think so . Man we are going to be insane next season. Will be interesting to see how Cal works the minutes at the 4 next season. The only down side to Williams coming as it is 2x the number of numskulls fretting over whether he will play next season or not . All you gotta do is read what Cal says once he signs. When Toppin signed it was all about him getting better and maybe sitting out next season. When Sarr did it was all about him being the missing piece this season and I suspect Williams will have the similar stuff said. Cal isn't bringing Sarr or Williams in for anything but 2020.Sounds like Williams is gonna be the guy! I’m sure that’s who Keion’s dad was referring too
