UK got the person they needed most in Sarr. Williams would have been a luxury, not a necessity. With that being said, I'd rather see the minutes go to Brooks and the young guys anyways.

From earlier reports Cal DID in fact back out of this young man's recruitment, but whatever. He would have been a luxury for us and would have been fighting for minutes, IMO.
Yes, of course I would have liked to have had the kid, he's a terrific 3 point shooter if nothing else, but I firmly believe we will be just fine even if Cal doesn't add another player, although I WOULD like to see him add a true 5 to back up Sarr.
I wish the young man the best, but I think he would have been better off at Arky or Baylor than with Penny, but that's again JMO.

How in the world would you know that he wanted guaranteed minutes ? Mabe he just wanted to go to Memphis instead of Kentucky.

IMHO Memphis was the only one that didn't back out, if the truth was told. Concerns about playing time don't work in your favor at UK. The other two option were waiting on players decisions or had other transfers coming in. He and his handlers back themselves into a corner, now they're trying to save face. Cal has better options on the way, just wait and see.
Guarantee you Penny asked him to say that or Willams ego might have led him to.

I’d say with certainty, Food-Stamp had him say that.
He’s not as good as Brooks in November, and he won’t be as good as Jackson in March.
I never understood how he fit beyond insurance and some added experience to the roster. If this gives Brooks more motivation- the inside knowledge that Cal is trusting him - then I’m all for it.

I’m thrilled it wasn’t Baylor....if there draft guys come back to school they will be an elite team and Memphis will struggle to make the tournament.
And just like that, no one ever heard from deandre Williams again.
